Are you going to declare war on your neighbours? Don't think I would like you living near me

If you are going to lose 12 parking spaces for 3 cars there is something wrong with the planning regulations. If Cllrs are anti car pro bike you don't have a chance of common sense being applied

Constant rubbish at Holmes Place, Oakhurst Grove
Charles Notice replied to Peckham Park's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Coming back this evening a dumped fridge on a pavement which was graffiti free on my outward journey now had graffiti all over it. Where do these people come from? There is a vast difference from a pleasing, not to all, picture to mindless shit upon a wall or dumped rubbish. -
Constant rubbish at Holmes Place, Oakhurst Grove
Charles Notice replied to Peckham Park's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
On my daily walk it seems that the whole area both ED and Peckham is under siege from a new generation of graffiti idiots and dumped rubbish. Still if they should ever get caught what do you think will happen? They will not go out of their way to solve. Seems we are going back to the bad old times. -

Gets more interesting with every post. Let's tug at the yummy mummy heart strings even more. What else is lurking in the background

At least they have a shop in Goose Green, which will benefit from extra foot fall and increased sales if this shop decides to close. So their costs as a chain for want of a better word will decrease resulting in greater profits. Landlords provide the facilities to trade which one can accept or decline.

Why would there be a rent increase when they only just opened? Surely they would have a fixed rent for a set period? -
No. 42 bus route extension consultation
Charles Notice replied to BrandNewGuy's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Loop through Sainsburys would make a lot of sense for elderly shoppers and a bus hub -
And the children, the young customers of Just Williams, are so heartbroken by the closure of their beloved toyshop, that they are going to stage a protest on Saturday 30th January. Dylan, six, said: ?I feel sad because Just Williams is my favourite toy shop and I like it in its old place.? Jemima, 11, said: ?I don?t want Just Williams to go. It?s magic, and I just love buying my toys from there and seeing all the other kids there as well.? What next?

My grandfather always said you can tell what kind a person is from his shoes -
Thank you for your reply however could you respond to the message below which you seem to have missed. How will it make the area easier to walk? will people not use pavements any more and how will removing a small one way system and replacing it with two way traffic make it a more pleasant area? How will it encourage non cyclists to cycle they still have to ride on busy inner london roads. You state that there has been number of reported crashes around the area of proposed changes. Would you please list them and what types of accidents they are if its not too much trouble Regards

"The one-way system when I've walked through the area appeared to me to encourage speeding making it harder to cross the road especially with children. Sorry I assumed this was obvious to anyone walking in the area." As I live in the area of the one way system I would have thought as a resident I would have a better idea of the system than you who only walks through the area and who has well known fixed views on certain subjects. What appears to you to be correct is not always the case. Melbourne Grove springs to mind and your view. Please when commenting please do not do so under Liberal Democrat Councillor for East Dulwich Ward. You do not represent Lane Ward so please if you wish to comment do so as an ordinary person. So please drop the above

"Re: Closure of Melbourne Grove to through traffic - new petitionjectio Posted by ed_pete 23 December, 2015 20:51" Usual rhetoric without evidence. However I am glad that Charles has highlighted the consultation on the changes to Bellenden Road / Holly Grove etc for which I will start a separate thread. And if ed_pete had not kindly put up this thread who would have known about the consultation?
-
Why? I only found out about this consultation by chance. I am not enrolled with Peckham vision etc. I did ask Southwark to keep me informed but they never did about future consultations after the last fiasco. Experience has shown that if you are not in the loop you have no chance of commenting. Local and I want change mob will always push their own views and if it meets Southwarks requirements they will use that push it through. Having been involved with Authorities I know the most vocal and pushy minority will always push it through if it meets the ruling parties requirements. I suspect the vast majority of local residents know zip about this consultation. Even though this effects the local area no local Cllrs has put their head above the parapet to comment Nothing strange in that they are Labour. It will be interesting to see the figures relating to people voted. Was you contacted about this?
-
Unfortunately we local residents will not have a say in this as local knowledge will be brushed aside in favour of new residents fear of moving traffic. All that is needed is for the junctions to be looked at particularly the Bellenden cross over with both Chadwick Roads as three roads converge. If you are stuck in lower Chadwick Road you will put your foot down to get across. As mentioned earlier patience and common sense seems to be lacking in this new generation. Never had these problems before.

If its of any interest Codfellas in Bellenden Road has reopened after a refit and now has tables and chairs to eat in. Always very good. Not just takeaway anymore

I oppose these plans as I feel that the current road system works very well. In my opinion I do not find the gyratory uncomfortable or intimidating when I walk, cycle or drive. If the current setup is used correctly it is 100% safe. Modifying the crossing the points would be be useful at Holly Grove/Bellenden, Bellenden/Chadwick Road although if used correctly they work well I do not find the speeds too high, unfortunately the cycle brigade would find speeds too high even if traffic was stationary. As many have asked on this please produce figures to support any accidents that render this system dangerous. There have been no accidents in my memory going back to 1989 when it was set up. I dare anyone car or cyclist to try and speed on Lyndhurst Way with all the speed bumps and parked traffic as to blockages on Bellenden Road outside the shops this is more to do with selfishness than anything. Patience and common sense seems to be lacking in some drivers and cyclist these days. The road system works and it appears some people want to introduce the chaos that Loughborough Junction produced to satisfy their own personal wishes not the local area requirement. If Southwark is so keen to grab this money on offer please find something that really needs it not destroy something that works and has worked for very long time. I cannot believe the stretch that is proposed to be closed has the highest speeds in the area, still have they produced any figures to support this, dates speeds etc etc. Perhaps I have been walking round it with my eyes closed all these years. If it works leave it. Basically this remodeling has only appeared since Bellenden Road became Bellenden Village It is still the same road it has always been. I walked round it a moment ago it was like a ghost town. Doubt if Southwark would use such a period to ramp there stats.

Hi Tiddles They are doing this all over. The latest is Bellenden Village.LOL, they are consulting on getting rid of the one way system that has been in existence since 1989. Tried and tested and works. No accidents except the odd minor scrape in all that time. Apparently newcomers deem it to be dangerous. Closing roads, moving bus stops yellow lines etc etc. Apparently there is a grant Southwark can get its hands on. Townley Road anybody. It would appear that unless traffic is stationary it is speeding. All crossing points and junctions work but we must have change. As Southwark is requesting replies to the consultation by email it has I feel already been decided. Real local knowledge is and will be ignored. How many local residents have the time to look at and respond to this kind of consultation or even know about it. Change for the sake of change buy the few
