The boards are for services provided by the council and/or non-profit groups or state agencies. Private micro businesses are to be congratulated and supported but they are able to advertise their services elsewhere, now more than ever, as part of their business plan. (This also applies to those who insist on plastering lampposts and bus shelters with their advertising, complete with protruding plastic ties at eye height!)

They’re not there to be used by all and sundry for their private businesses (which earn money) — social media, postcards in shop windows, ads on the EDF and free newspapers are the right methods for that. I agree though that these notice boards should be kept in better nick and used as planned, namely to advertise council services etc.

I’ve 2 x cardigans each with small (10p piece) holes that need darning. Where is a good place? I’m unsure as to how much is a fair price, given the small size of the repair. Thanks

Try Mind and St Christopher’s - they generally accept such items, if bagged. There is a large bin at the car park of The Plough but it’s often full (despite my calls to the number provided) and some (on here) have said the organisation has links to certain charities/groups that one may find troubling. (Please do your own research. I cast no aspersions.)

The manager replied and said the hand cycle will be replaced shortly, so that’s good news and well received.

Can’t understand? It’s easy - they’re selfish. entitled and unneighbourly (unless they’ve requested a free pickup, but even then they ought to keep them in the garden or on DYL, etc.).

Trees are great - I plant and raise my own and petition the council to look at damaged specimens and plant more - but they need to be tended to when they’re in non-woodland spaces. I encourage all those who have a strong liking for trees to plant them, grow from seed etc. - much better for all than tapping on keypads.

Why the description of their skin tone? It’s not as if there are likely to be more than one set of two men over the age of 60 playing noughties pop music with accompanying light display of a night on the Rye.

The shops along the road have had nice, new tarmac put down but some imbecile decided to scrawl and scribble wiggly lines around the edges with seemingly indelible white spray paint. What the actual eff?

There is one at the 63/363 northbound bus stop near the Herne Tavern. It was full a few days ago; I reported it.

But why ask us to book ahead? The system benefits the die-hards who hover over their keyboards and snap up the slots (and don’t always show up).

If a family at a time of great grief says “please, no donations” and others - well meaning individuals, no doubt - go against that, I consider that to be antagonising behaviour. Just do as they ask and, if you are inclined, make a donation to a charity of your choice.

The hand-powered cycle is no longer there, which is a big omission because it is a great machine for those with limited leg/foot power. Camberwell also got rid of its hand-bicycle. I have written to the management via the email address on the app/website and CCd my councillor (well, the one of the two who replies). I ask that you do the same - it’s bad when a refurbishment actually turns out worse for some customers!

Shaking the perception that it’s for those two demographic groups — potentially by embracing the ability of rental e-bikes such as Lime and Forest to entice new demographics into cycling — will be key to moving the dial.

Lawless is definitely an exaggeration but petty vexations caused by inconsiderate behaviour is definitely there and police/bus drivers/train crew, etc. (who witness such annoyances more often than most) tend to ignore the louts (of all shapes and sizes) whose low-level but still upsetting actions (swearing, acting out, smoking or vaping, playing loud music or conversations on phones) abound.
