Shy is good sometimes..

have done it last summer and it was a disaster... Dust, rough conditions, bathroom etc it s hell! surely your builders are better than mine but as much as you can plan on an house renovation there will be plenty of things coming up once they start working with delays and temporary caos.. If You can You better find an alternative solution on airb&b or also on this forum; I have hosted a young family of 3, 3 years ago, while I was on vacation and it did work for both of us. Now...my house it s on the small side for a bigger family like you but surely especially in the summer you can find temporary accommodations... Furthermore i suggest You to put everything needs to be done and a time SCHEDULE on papers.. My work suppose to take 6 weeks but it ended up being 13 weeks... all the best!!

I m thinking to remortgage my first and only house in order to invest in a second propriety. My broker does it very simple in theory to remortgage the house, cash in some equity in order to use it as deposit for a second house.. He (my broker) doesn t say much though about taxes I might need to pay on the equity i cash in.. Do i need to pay taxes on my remortgage once i cash in the equity money??? thanx

Hi everyone and thank You in advance for your advice and suggestions I own a flat in a house. It s a top floor and there are, including mine, 5 flats in the house We have a management company that runs the building and all works that it needs. Management company is done and run by 2 flats owners in the building(none of the 5 lives in here, they are abroad or somewhere in the uk countryside). They are not professionals but have been in charge long time as cheaper than a professional company. Anyway this management company has a registered name etc and the 2 people in charge get paid (although less than other companies) for their time Since i moved in my flat I have had a leak from the roof into my second bedroom which I rent from time to time to help me out with bills. I rent it through AirB&B or spareroom.co.uk but this leak of water has always been an issue with tenants. It goes from the roof to my ceiling and than down the wall to the floor (it s a wooden floor)passing by 2 electricity plugs... Many tenants especially in the winter, although very happy with me and the house, have been complaining about humidity in their room as for the water..some of them just pointed it out..some of them asked for a reduction in price and some of them decided not to stay in the room anymore I have been calling, mailing, texting etc etc the management company a serious number of time over the two years i have been here. They have always been slow (in the best case) with answering and even much slower taking action. Once, 5/6 months ago, finally they sent me a builder to check my problem out. He said it was a 2/3 days work and he knew where the problem was. We agreed for a day (after a couple of months) and the builder came along to fix it. he worked 2hrs on the roof and went away saying problem was fixed (not in 2/3 days but in 2/3 hrs)...and that was the end of the summer.. straight away with first rains I have had same problems again and even my tenant at present is complaining about that humidity.. I have been trying and trying and trying and ..trying to speak with management company but, when they answer to me, they just try to gain time but they do NOTHING about it.I pay nearly ?200 pcm towards this company and I am very very frustrated WHAT SHALL I DO???I m thinking to leave the matter in a solicitor hands as this "doing nothing" about my problem has cost me money (with tenants) and lots of time trying to reach them by phone or email..!! I ll be happy to leave this problem to a solicitor...if nobody has a better idea...but than I don t know any good solicitor here in ED! Any ideas?? Does any of you can suggest a good and fair solicitor around ED?? I have pics of the damage as proof, track of all the mails and texts, and can easily get back to some tenants asking them to sign a declaration on why they have left the room.. Thanx very much for Your help

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
vito replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi there, We (and i mean people living in ED at the border with nunhead- underhill rd dunstans rd etc..) are experiencing very heavy prob with flickering electricity We have called UK POWER NETWORK but they say there is nothing they can do or that they are not aware of any prob down here. Doesn t matter who s calling they always say that the person calling has been the only one reporting the prob but...i know for sure a few people has called them.. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1241440 They also sent a technician over in my case and they say problem is due to my old electric system but some people around here have had the place re wired but...with no results.. anything we could do? -
I understand.... so even getting the place re wired and updated won t guarantee me an improvement on this matter... I don t understand than.. Anyway for whoever feels like contacting them (UK POWER NETWORK) on 08007838838 my call ref numbers is 124280J the more the better... thanx
-
Also Anna, i wanted to ask You.. is your consume unit and the whole electric system old?? i had a technician sent over from uk power network and he said problem was my consume unit as too old as we are experiencing the same problem but only in one area (nunhead/east dulwich)i don t believe that only in this area we have old consume units and outside this area everybody has new consume units ...if you see what i mean..this has for sure to do with them! ANYWAY I HAVE JUST BEEN ON THE PHONE, ONCE AGAIN, THAT S MY THIRD TIME, WITH UK POWER NETWORK AND THEY SAY I AM THE ONLY CALL THEY HAVE RECEIVED ABOUT FLICKERING LIGHTS...SO THEY WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT AS IT S ONLY ME AND THEY BELIEVE IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH MY SYSTEM....BUT ONLY CAUSE I AM THE ONLY ONE COMPLAINING ABOUT IT... Once again i have called uk power network on 08007838838 pls do the same if you are experiencing the same prob... thanx
-
Hi Anna I understand the situation and agree with You: we need to put pressure on them! who are You calling? who s Them?? i am calling UK power Network on 0800 783 8838 let me know if that s correct.. thanx
-
Think She might be busy dealing with her probs already... Any better idea? I have booked an electrician for next week but wouldn t want to spend any money on that if it is, as it seems to be, something related to a whole area.. I have called my supplier and it s not up to them they say Called uk power network, they came along quickly, but...not up to them so...who else??
-
Who s Louisa now?
-
so...who do we need to call?? any guess?
-
hi there i am also having lots of probs with flickering lights.. has been like that for the past few months have called uk power network and they sent a technician over few days ago..he says my consume unit is old and needs to be replaced... I don t believe it much as i know lots of people having probs and now all of you too.. I am in underhill road near dunstans road in SE22 and prob is not only my flat but also other people around me.. i am calling an electrician and see what he says.. pls keep me posted happy new year everybody Vito
