Wanted - venue for 4th birthday - imagination escapes me
emc replied to EDmummy's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I recently booked the hut/hall thing at the back of The Herne for my daughter's third birthday - It was ?50 to hire, we were allowed to bring our own food and obv grown ups can purchase alcohol from the bar. We hired a kids entertainer who was fab, laid out the food, had dance competitions, pass the parcel in the inside bit then the kids ran wild in play area etc and the parents could relax with their drinks... It was brilliant, but please check that the kitchen bit of the hall is NOT being used to serve food on the day as ours was initially (which we were not informed of) but the manager closed it down after complaints from us and then seeing himself that it was causing smell/smoke, not least being a huge health and safety hazard with a load of three year olds tearing around! -
OK - so just need to hear from Curlykaren, pepperkinski, alibo, dgastra, maria roberts, sarah darcy and sawyerphin - let me know! x

Hi there Just wondered who is still up for this? - from memory I think myself, sarah darcy, sawyerphin and NH mummy were - can you all confirm that you still are. Brum, I'm sorry I've kept changing dates - I think you could make the Sat but not Sun can you confirm? (next time we will get a date good for you too, really sorry) Others interested were: curlykaren, pepperkinski, alibo, fifib, dgastra and Maria Roberts. Let me know if you'd like to come along...I was going to suggest meeting at the cafe on Peckham Rye at 3ish if the weather is good but am open to other suggestions Cheers

Well if you are at home with children (I work part time) and you've had a busy morning and you come back for lunch it's nice to have a bit of light relief while you are tidying, getting kids lunch, etc, etc. And no I don't sit on my arse watching TV all day but in the middle of my often manic day it's a bit of fun in the background. Pls don't do the 'watching TV in the day' snob thing....I catch it for a half and hour maybe before afternoon activities commence. That's all it is.

I too resent the 'past it' comment - I'm nearing 40 and don't feel (or indeed look so am often told) much different to late twenties, early thirties. I've got a big group of girlfriends and we discuss Loose Women type stuff but loads of other stuff too - politics, world events, whatever, along with the usual loose women stuff - kids, sex, how crap men can be, make-up, losing weight, counsel on each other's personal traumas (if needs be!) etc, etc. That's why I like the show, it makes me feel warm and fuzzy and makes me laugh out loud....I work a few floors down from the show at ITV and if there was a job going on it I'd be there like a shot! If you don't like it, bloomin' well turn over or turn off. And yes Carol was married to Chris Evans, but now engaged to toy boy researcher she met on the show - good on her!

God, what a bunch of snobs! - what you have described is often the behaviour of lots of women on a girls night out - whether that's a bunch of perma tanned Essex girls or a bunch of yummy mummies knocking back the vino in Black Cherry. I totally get it and I love it and not really sure why it's a big secret to be 'admitted' to.....lots of my friends love it too, all educated, bright ladies with careers, blah, blah,blah.... And I'm not surprised that you men don't like it and don't get it, you're not expected to.....and according to most blokes, women that are loud and having a good time without you are trampy 'cackling' harlots, etc, etc....maybe they just scare you a little?...Oh who cares, I love watching it if I'm around, makes me laugh and cheers me up.

Ahh, well that makes more sense - wonder again though why this never pops up in coverage tho but I guess he must have offically adopted them from birth etc so he is legally their parent. And I meant to say dual heritage not mixed heritage. daizie Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I read yesterday that Debbie Rowe has said that > they are'nt his. I don't know if anyone else thinks this but I am wondering how Michael Jackson's children can possibly be biologically his as they (look) completely caucasion and don't look in any way mixed race? (or mixed heritage as a friend who has recently had a mixed race baby told me) I know that this can sometimes happen but all three of his children? (first two are the same mother, Debbie Rowe and the third child is from an unknown surrogate mother) No-one ever seems to raise this - at the moment I am working in the newsroom of a TV prog where they are going crazy on the Michael Jackson coverage but no-one else seems to querying this! Is it just me???

I saw a notice in Dulwich Library which I think was about a dads meet up locally - if you call the library am sure they will tell you more info.

Ooo, I will do. You obviously have a wealth of knowledge about the profession...will run any future ideas past you. ta

Dear Blah, re your comment - well this feature has now long gone but as the 'case histories' (as we call them in the trade)in it are identified and pictured you can't really fabricate them. And I'm bloody excellent at my job thanks very much - ta for insightful comments though, much appreciated.

No, not me (though wouldn't mind!) I work on a women's mag and am putting together a piece on love for one of our summer issues and am looking for people who have a great love story to tell with a summer theme to it...e.g you met on holiday/doing something over the summer months, etc, etc..... Please, no advice/abuse from would-be journalist forumites - it's a genuine request and I'm just doing my job! Ta

and you asked Jessie if she was a nice looking woman - come on, looks are important to everyone but of course everyone has a different idea of what's attractive (which is a good thing) But I don't blame you for not posting a pic of yourself on EDF - that's just asking for trouble...... -

No, I won't be there on Friday - people who say that 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder' are usually not that attractive...in my experience. Could be wrong of course.
