  1. I hear what you're all saying but I want to go out this year as have had babysitting offer (for the whole night, so a lie in too) so I feel I must take advantage.....
  2. Yes I know there is a certain amount of apathy about New Year's Eve but just wondered if anyone who has been to either or both of the above venues could give their views? All I really want is a good dance and nice atmosphere...though I do go to The Bishop sometimes I find it a bit too young (am in late thirties)and esp at weekend a bit of a 'meat market.' But at the same time am worried that The Rye might be full of smug marrieds (sorry if generalising!) so any views from people who have actually attended would be great. Thanks
  3. Thanks so much!
  4. I've gone to the relevant Southwark website and can see all the info about what to do but cannot locate the actual form to fill in online - I know I'm being really thick, can anyone point me in the right direction? thanks
  5. Tulsie - thank you! Am going to sound really thick here but there seem to be three positions for the switches on the paw - 1, 0 and X - is 1 the only one that turns it on and if so which is off??!!! Sorry she got gone of those kiddie cameras too and I can't work out how to use that either but she is mastering it very quickly! Many thanks and if I have no joy I will pop round when you return and photocopy! Cheers, EMC
  6. Hi there I got this all singing/all dancing cat half price at work for my little girl - the only thing is that it's come without instructions so I can't fathom out many of the things the cat is supposed to be able to do - if anyone has the instructions could I photocopy? (as I didn't buy it 'in store' there's no customer services to call) Many thnaks
  7. Hi there Hello all I'm working on an item for a morning TV show and am looking to speak to parents who are buying their child (5-10 years old) a mobile for Christmas - due to safety issues, because all their friends have got one etc, etc. This is in relation to a report that comes out in the New Year which explores childrens' media use and purchasing. If you think you might be able to help please PM me and I can tell you more. Many thanks EMC
  8. 9. A friend of mine just texted me - she saw it advertised by the post office on Lordship Lane..think you're right Daizie, bound to be populated by lots of lovely women and very few men...
  10. I never go there for a drink let alone a speed dating event - any other East D singles thinking of attending?
  11. It's for an xmas present. I've looked at Top Shop, Next and Gap don't seem to do mail order (and can't seem to get into their website either) Any suggestions about where else to look for this?
  12. when the strikes are on? Specifically Perth and Sydney? I'm looking to talk to families who were hoping to fly to Oz for Christmas with friends and family but are now concerned that they may not be able to get there. Pls PM me for more info. Thanks

It seems a bit much > to me. As a single mum I think it is highly inappropriate - different if the children are in bed but they're around and being introduced, in whatever way, I just think it's wrong...kids of split up parents have enough do deal with without being introduced to someone who may or may not be around for a while...I'd only introduce if felt relationship was very serious. A single dad did the same to me (I was a single mum too by then, and he got his two little sons out of their beds to introduce me) and it really put me off.
  14. Hello, I'm writing a piece for a women's magazine about how, if you split up from your partner in your mid/late thirties (or even later) you may miss out on having that second/third/fourth baby that you envisaged as part of your future if you don't meet a new partner 'in time'. While of course I know I am extremely lucky to have my daughter when so many people struggle to have just one child as I get older it's increasingly playing on my mind that my chance to have more children is decreasing as time goes by. The piece I'm writing is personal but I would like to include other people's experiences in the piece so if you would like to know more please PM me. Many thanks EMC
  15. Anyone know if they're putting on their usual black tie thing this year and if you've been before, is it any good? Thanks
  16. I want to take my Dad away for his 70th birthday in January and he fancies Dorset, an area I don't know at all - so, any suggestions on parts of Dorset and also if you have stayed anywhere lovely (self catering cottages I mean, not hotels? There will be four adults, two toddlers and one newborn baby. Any info greatly appreciated.

  18. Thanks for replies - I found someone in the end!
  19. Hi there I'm looking to have a chat with mums and dads whose parents help with childcare (while parents working) on a regular basis for an item about this on a morning TV show - my mum cares for my little girl one day a week but it wouldn't be appropriate for me to appear on a show I work for! Soooo...... You would all need to be happy to be filmed probably tomorrow and maybe live on Thurs morning - so if you fancy your fifteen mins of fame do get in touch. Cheers, Emma 07958 583690

  21. One of my friends series produced/directed it - it's his voice you hear asking the questions! Am v proud of him.
  22. Well, that would be telling...all I'm saying is that realistically people want to see what what people look like, however shallow that may seem.
  23. Put your pic up...I did and have been on a few dates..
  24. Yes - am answering the original question the thread asked.
