  1. I was wondering if any parents out there have their kids swimming at the Flip N Turn Swim School? If so, I'd be keen to ask a few q's as I'd like to pop my LO name down on the wait list. Thanks in advance.....
  2. No Snowboarder.....i have in the past asked about follow on schools from Ducks. But I haven't asked about the girls there. Just a hunch I am nervous about.....
  3. Thanks Minder. I'm still awaiting any other responses.......
  4. If so, did you feel that: A) she was nurtured as much as the boys in her class? B) where did she go on to, if you're ok passing on the info? C) was the 7+ a smooth transition? D) do you have any regrets? (i.e. did you at all consider any neighbouring schools that take until 11, such as Oakfield, HH or Rosemead ?) Many thanks in advance.....
  5. Mr Graham Barker at the Portland: outstanding.
  6. Our daughter has been on the wait list for LGC for a while and been accepted (she's under the age of 4). I've also been hearing very good things about CP Gym Club and saw it was awarded London's Club of the Year in 2012. Granted, our L.O is very young and her learning will be basic movement classes but given the signs that she has already shown, plus her parents' jobs and athletic history, I think she may well enjoy and thrive at Gymnastics (not being arrogant; just a hopeful assumption on how well I know her. Has anyone had experience of both? Heard better of either? Tips? Pointers? Are they as good as each other or do you feel that one excels over the other? If it is much of a muchness, I will stick with LGC but I'd be interested to hear if CP's training is stronger. Many advanced thanks....
  7. What pre-prep / early years school (nursery) was your little one at and did you privately tutor to prep for the Reception entrance assessment? Thank you in advance for any responses. Dave
  8. Hi, Re my partner's post: re: DUCKS to Alleyn's at 5+ Mrs Bionic_Dave here jumping on the forum with 5mins to spare. I was wondering if there were any private school teachers who use this forum and, if so, might you be interested in messaging me because I would be very keen to speak to a teacher within the private system about the pros and cons of the 5+, 7+ and 11+. I really am at my wits end trying to make decisions between schools. Schools that we have whittled it down to are: a Montessori pre school from age of 2.5 (to 5yrs); St Dunstan's, Rosemead, Ducks and we loved Alleyns, though aware entry at 5+ is almost impossible. I have a plethora of questions and would very much like to sit down and talk to someone savvy if the system but someone non bias. My partner and I also have a lot of questions re: Rosemead. Our Little One is down to start there soon and we v much liked the school but....there seems to be a lot of negativity online about it. Thanks in advance.
  9. * We have a little one (LO) due to start at Ducks this Sept (rising 3). * LO has the potential to stay there til age of 7 but we are keen for LO to try for Alleyn's reception entry. * I anticipate that Ducks don't prepare their pupils for the 5+ entrance/assessment because they gear them up for the 7+ and (for the boys), the 11+. * Has anyone out there got or heard of success stories of LO's moving from Ducks to Alleyn's reception? Any tips? Any advice? And (warnings!) re Ducks? (We liked it a lot but we are new to the area so we might be missing out on other hidden gems). * Other options for us are Townsend Montessori in F.Hill and Rosemead. HH and Oakfield aren't options for us as we weren't keen on them. Thanks in advance. :-)
