About an hour ago, someone attempted to mug my flaTmAte on Chadwick rd but she screamed and they ran off. 3 black youths very little other description she can provide as she's still in shock. The police were called and will make further enquiries tomorrow. One grabbed her phone but she refused to let go and he got scared by the screaming.

When you come out of Peckham Rye Station and turn right. The units on the right hand corner, opposite Il Gardino. THere is a notice outside these premises that they have an alochol license. Google the name on the notice ; )

Qualified are not, they have loyal customers who keep returning and keep their business going. The matter of the mess they leave is a seperate issue that needs to be addressed by the council. Any business that leaves rubbish and a lot of it is food not just hair on Rye Lane has been an issue for years. Even if every business was spotless, that wouldnt change the face of Rye Lane. The businesses would still be the same as long as the same customers keep rolling in.

Cleaning up the outside of the station will make a huge difference, as for the rest of the shops on Rye lane they will slowly change due to demand. Case in point, Ellies Bakehouse and Cafe Viva on Choumert Grove. These two businesses would not look out of place in East Dulwich but they are just off Rye Lane. Also on the corner of Peckham Rye station Im sure some of you have noticed that three units are undergoing building work. From my research this is set to be a bar or cafe bar by the same people who are responsible for Franks in the Summer. If these types of businesses prove to be sucessful, then more will come. To those of you who dont see the need for all the nail salons and hairdressers, I have friends from all different walks of life with different spending power who specifically come to Peckham to get their hair done. The only thing they all have in common is Afro hair. They dont like Rye lane but they all say the haridressers are the best and offer value for money.

Peckham plex is ridiculously cheap, is opposite the train station, is connected by 7 different bus routes and lets not forget the abundance of pound shops close by to stock up on snacks. Olivia Colman and Ken Loach have given talks there and in the summer months there is a a rooftop bar. If you dont want to get the train or bus there, Im pretty sure you could get a taxi and still save on the amount that you would normally pay at a multiplex.

I wouldnt count The Gowlett, the Victoria, the Montpelier, Bar Story as they may stay open til midnight on some evenings but they arent really the same as places in Shoreditch that are open until 3am and beyond. The Bussey building is used for a variety of different nights sporadically. Is the Peckham Palais open every weekend? There must be a reason why no-one has set up a nightclub in Peckham that is open every weekend with regular DJs. I love Peckham, but it has long way to go before it is anything like Shoreditch.

Are there any places in Peckham with a late night license (post 11pm) that have stayed open for more than six months?

I got the train from Peckham Rye at 8.29 this morning and changed at Canada Water to get to Canary Wharf. Changing trains was very fast and I got on the first Jubilee line train that arrived at about 8.40ish. It was much faster and easier than changing at London Bridge. I appreciate there will be days when it is busier but then its just a matter of getting on/off at the right carriage and walking along the platform to a part of the train that isn't as busy.
