Thanks for the feedback on our case, which is slightly irregular because of when we moved to the borough. My child did sit the banding test for Kingsdale but not Harris which probably explains why we didn't get a place despite our proximity. Not sure how we missed that banding test though Southwark was providing the schools with an incorrect address for us for a time. HOwever we stand a good chance of getting a place at Harris as our older child's there so we're not too concerned at this stage.

Seems like we were the lucky 7% who didn't get any of our choices including Kingsdale, Charter and Harris Girls. Offered Peckham Academy instead.

Thanks for the replies. We are in the process of moving to an address near Goose Green from abroad so it's an in-year admission. I won't have time to visit schools before Christmas but at least wanted to get general impressions of local schools to have something to put on the admission form and to narrow my search in the new year. Judging from the replies, it seems that all the local schools are good so I have nothing to worry about.

Most important is probably a friendly, supportive atmosphere, good pupil relationships and good quality teaching that stimulates a love of learning.

We are moving to East Dulwich and I'm wondering which primary schools posters would recommend and why. Thanks

Thanks for the replies. If kids aren't offered their first choice such as Charter, where do they end up? Do they still stand a chance of getting into their second choice if it was another popular school like Harris Academy?

We'll be moving to Crystal Palace Road/Goose Green area shortly with our two girls who are fast approaching secondary school age. Which secondary schools are most popular with families in that area?
