Thankyou Rich and Sue this was not the Duke formally Duke of Edinburgh or Man of Kent. It would probably be originally a beer house. I am sure it was there up to the 60's, there has been a bit of demolition opposite Ayres may have been there or a few shops down going towards Evelina road but it was between Gordon rd and Kimberley Ave but not as far as kimberley I remember it, had a couple of beer barrels against the wall for tables or decoration. And two long benches where you dumped your kids, whilst having a drink, It was not a pub that encouraged you to go at night it was more of an old man or thirsty shoppers place. Cannot find it at all on any the pub sites, it was painted white flat fronted.

I would like to ask to all you good people when I was a kid, there was a pub on nunhead lane with a couple of benches outside roughley opposite Ayres the bakers, It was a flat fronted pub, nothing special, Not the pyrotechnists or the Nuns head or tyrrell The crown comes to mind, but not that, My husband as a boy spent many, Saturday afternoons perched on one of the benches whilst his mum and dad had a drink. He is 70, now, and we cannot find the name of this pub anywhere, not on dead pubs. We are racking our brains Any memories anyone? thankyou

in the 60's lordship lane was a gentle street with small shops and a couple of larger ones I am sure there was a woolworths, maybe I am mistaken, used to walk the length of it most evenings and it was quiet after 6 oclock, there used to be a chemist selling loads of lovely fancy makeup a large shoe shop roughly opposite post office.

You have spelt @#$%& wrong too many letters

I know this is going off the thread somewhat, They say the warm weather drys virus out so it dies on surfaces, in the sun. So possibly will slow transmission, for example postman touching your gate, and your letter etc. Whats worrying me, in the summer this will die back just like seasonal flu, And peoples attitudes, especially the young, no masks, or face coverings, gay abandon, riots. high street open, we are all back to normal It will just bounce back when weather changes, We may be back in lockdown come October

Southwark Recycling Centre - is it open?
lameduck replied to dimjim79's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
if you go online southwark recycling devon road, you fill small form in, giving vehicle number plate, what items you intend to bring, and print off permit. then you get an hour slot, in about 10 days. Plus you need ID to prove you reside in borough -
Chances are if you disturb where they are often few times a day whatever, they will naturally re locate. had a big boy live in one of my garages for sometime, as we never went in for months, soon as we found him, we were in there every day, he soon went.

Why cant joggers keep to the park, on the grass last night , we go out late as to avoid others as we are in the elderley bracket. female jogger top of Ivydale cheltenham junction, forced us two out in the road to avoid. I dont mind walking in the road, dont bother me, but she came at us so fast, we actually were more worried meeting her and we never really checked the road

Yes I am, know a bit of local, not as much as i would like too intersted at moment to know where farm house was on the rye.

Cannot understand people limited to one or two drinks when pubs open. what difference how much you or many you drink. You can catch this touching door handles, getting within touching distance. within in seconds of meeting somebody with this. Am I missing something? I suppose we will have to learn to live carefully, till hopefully we find a vaccination

Why are garden parties with members from different households allowed???
lameduck replied to aloevera's topic in The Lounge
The problem is if you nip out for a coffee or icecream you are risking becoming ill, And possibly the poor buggers who may have to treat you in hospital. Go out if it is essential, but you are also putting others at risk if you become ill. We must learn to respect others, We have had too many deaths -

lameduck replied to aloevera's topic in The Lounge
They have done too little too late, We should have locked down sooner, This is going to have serious repercussions for years to come, and the longer this goes on, it is going to get worse. If everybody respected others, stayed at home, not socialised outside of house went out when necessary only, and social distanced. We all may be able to enjoy our summer and the rest of our lives. -
Lots of people just dont seem to care treating it like a bloody holiday, I have been looking at worldometers and wonder if we are all, keeping apart how come we having 4000 plus new cases every day, I go out for a walk late at night, and avoid everybody like the plague. It is obvious that I am a pensioner, and as a pensioner it is likley that I am vulnerable. But people of all ages dont avoid me. I was forced on to the road about 20 times walking around peckham rye by joggers, one night. I have had 6 weeks at home now, have not been to a shop, quick walks late at night, When are these jerks going to realise, the longer we mess about, the longer this will last, and more poor people are going to die

There is a jigsaw program on the computer it is called brainsbreaker if you google brainsbreaker it should come up, costs very little when I done it about 10 yr ago cost me about ?15. life time one payment, they send you puzzles they call them canned, you download, for a bit extra, but the beauty of this is if you punch up a picture of anything you like on the computer, lets say eastbourne pier you have the facility to turn it into a jigsaw, how many pieces you want. these cost nothing, So you dont really need to download any of the canned ones. Only thing you need a fair size screen or monitor, i have a desk top and a large telly as a monitor also you are never bit short and you cant upset it

Volunteer Appeal on behalf of Kristal Pharmacy
lameduck replied to Thunderblue600's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
That is a thriving big shop surely in this time of need, they can stretch to a days money, for these volunteers, who are possibly risking getting themselves sick -
possibly one of the safest walks to be had when walking around there about 3 weeks back noticed a lot of graves 1918-20 not military, civilian, wondered how many of those, lots were youngsters 20-40 died of the spanish flu pandemic

Coronavirus Cases London Boroughs Southwark is worst
lameduck replied to DulwichFox's topic in The Lounge
I dont believe the statistics I think it is much higher. I wonder, How many people have the illness. That have done exactly what the government says. Self Isolate, stay at home dont call 111, unless your symptoms are severe. Lets put it that way if I awoke with a sore throat cough, I would see how I go etc. I am self isolating as old, not ill makes you wonder
