Did you ask her why she had children if she barely has enough money to live on for herself? Harsh and perhaps circumstances have changed for her since having kids, but begging surely isn't the solution (people using the guilt trip, especially mentioning children as an excuse, really gets my back up). I've come not to trust any, since so many make up ridiculous stories and expect people to fall for them. Professional beggers can make more money per day than someone on the min wage. It's just not right.

Let's hope they're not cooked in microwave ovens!

I'm not sure if that's implying the truffles are cheap or expensive? I'm guessing that's quite good, no? I've only ever ordered truffles at restaurants.

Massive sale this weekend so I've heard on the rumour-vine.

I definitely wouldn't signing anything. You have no inventive to sign away your rights if they are only offering you state minimum. From friends I've spoken to that have been made redundant, they have always been offered a lawyer on the company. I think most people that push will generally get offered a better pay-off, but I suppose it depends on the circumstances.

You're right, apparently they caught the main people responsible for it. I hear it's down 75% now!

Oh, I remember the days of Pic 'n' Mix and ripping the top of the bag off to save a few pennies! Who'd have though a ?1 bag could also get you all their stores to boot!

Peckhamgatecrasher so did you claim the money for yourself? Technically, I think you would have been entitled to it. Yes, all ATM's will pull back cash that isn't taken. I was saved by that mechanism once also.

Perhaps M&S will now make a come back on Peckham High Street ;)

On the subject of Icelandic banks, I had to wait 1.5 months to get a reasonable sum of cash back from Kaupting Edge. And now I'm waiting for my interest payment! Citigroup will be fine, but there are better banks out there if you did want to change. Personally, I'm with Nationwide, as I'd rather be with a mutual. If you do any amount of travelling, then they are really the best option for reasons already mentioned.

I've had a wallet stolen before, but I've never lost one. However, I've lost both a mobile phone and a bag full of birthday presents in unbooked minicabs and both got returned!

Well I'm still waiting after 3 months for my cuff links from my brother. I suspect also... Clearly there are some problems, but I'm not sure how much can be done about it.

It doesn't make the contract legal though. UK law will always override and the case hasn't been tested yet.

Are we talking about the new themes on gmail - the fact one can now alter the colour scheme to slightly less garish colours?
