Look out for the pin stripes, cigar and fat bonus cheque...

Like will it fall to the left of the right!?

It was Come Dine With Me. And the food was amazing :)

I've been fully in control of my car on all roads around ED. I just takes a different driving technique. However, I've been avoiding use of the Vespa until recently, as it's a completely different ball game with 2 wheels! I actually find it great fun when the roads are a little slippy, but it obviously requires greater awareness. It's a good way to increase your skills and understand about how your car handles.

So, correction - 2x single on Oyster ARE indeed better value than a return ticket, so it's thumbs up from me afterall :)
-
Well spotted, my bad. Yes, I agree.
-
Not necessarily. What do you need it for?
-
Not according to the TfL Oyster website: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/tickets/faresandtickets/farefinder/current/Default.aspx Enter Peckham Rye to London Bridge. The single fares displayed are ?3.20 and ?2.80.
-
So unless you're only going to use a single or you normally would travel to the cap price of a travel card on one day, the whole this is a complete con! And now people simply buying the odd return ticket are paying more. Good value? Me thinks not. It just seems to have made tickets more expensive in return for lessening queues which will also save TfL in staffing costs.
-
A single to zone 1 is ?3.20 peak, ?2.80 off-peak. A return is only ?4.30, so for 2x peak and off-peak singles you'll pay ?2.20 and ?1.30 MORE respectively. I will stick to the Vespa I think. Much cheaper!!

Toilet building on Peckham Rye Common

Some practical ideas: 1) The site could be used as a free bike hire station. Isn't this going to happen in zone one now? I'm not really up-to-date on what Boris has suggested or signed-off, but this would be an idea bike station IMO. 2) It would also be nice to have and outdoor water fountain for runners. Appreciate this would not consume the entire site, but with plumbing already in place, it would be good to make use of this. Or just install a water feature/fountain with additional drinking facilities. 3) Use it as a small enterprise building such that small businesses can showcase their goods/services. Offer this on a rotation basis where a small business can 'win' a one-month lease of the space. Each business much pitch for this space each month and a committee will vote for the winning business to take up the space. This would be a great little location for something unique like this and would also be a great little bit of PR for the local areas, as it's not something I've ever heard of before. 4) Outdoor theatre. A small stage area. There are so many possibilities... -
Yep, that's right. The daily travelcard cap will be in place. *** So in short, don't use Oyster PAYG if you simply require a return train fair. It will be cheaper to buy a paper return ticket. ***

Is the place for sale/up for lease?

They are a complete joke. They allow traffic flow in only one direction at a time, so they are at least 50% less efficient than the previous permanent lights. And absolutely no work has begun! I ignored them this morning and just turned left when there was oncoming traffic. I'm not going to be late for work just because some guy couldn't be bothered to install a filter light and program them up properly.

She didn't think to look under a car after she dropped it!? How odd.
-
Another thing worth pointing out is that you will always be charged for single tickets. I occasionally travel from Peckham Rye to London Bridge return, but using PAYG will be more expensive than simply buying a paper return ticket. Due to the infrequency of my journey, it's never worth me buying a travelcard. So the new Oyster PAYG activation is pointless for me, as the system will not 'cap' for a return journey fare. It will always charge for TWO single tickets.

Agree, the Oakhust/Kelmore Grove lighting is horrific. I preferred the softer yellowish lighting that the previous lamps offered. The whole place is lit up like a high street now. Why can't we get the nice lantern style lighting that's offered in Chelsea/ & Knightsbridge for example? How much light to people need anyway!?

1 fight in 6 years of living in ED. Hardly a statistical anomaly.

Do people think Greendale is safe in the evening?

Is this some secret club I've missed out on? A Masons for the Masses perhaps? -
I can't believe no one has mentioned Kebab and Wine, open till 5am(!) Liquorish / Adventure are open till around 2am over the weekend (the former was starting to veer towards club territory a few years ago, but they seem to favour a more serene trade of late). A few people have mentioned Funky Monkey in Camberwell, but I've not been for years. Clapham is always a good night out. Infernos is basically a student union club for graduates. It's a cheese factory, if that's your thing. SO.UK is nice - small venue, but good crowd in there. Whitehouse is great if you're into house music. Ingido is a great late night condensation-on-the-wall type haunt, if you're really desperate for somewhere to go late (till ~4/5am). In Brixton you have Plan B. I used to go a lot until someone was allegedly shot in there on my birthday party! The blood in the toilets at the end of the night were not particularly a pleasant sight for my guests! However, if that doesn't put you off, it can be good fun. If you're more into west-end style clubs, then there are now realms of them. The new Chinawhite sucks though, but what did one expect!?

Probably those new street lamps they are installing. Did you find it again?

I run a completely unrelated forum, but I could possibly open up a special section on there for EDF goers as a temporary stopping place, but I'm not sure my servers would cope! Probably best to stick with the other local forums for the next couple of weeks. Suggest a place is decided upon... Mark/Admin - Completely with you on wanting to close down completely for a few weeks. My site is also not for profit and it can take its toll. For those talking about making it read-only, it's really not that simple! Since it would have not been properly tested before, it could open up all sorts of issues. Have a well deserved break!

are you waiting for a royal mail parcel?
