  1. No one is allowed to cycle on pavements. Age has nothing to do with it. I cycled on the road to school as a kid and never had any issues. If someone is not confident on a bike, then they should either do a cycling proficiency course (I would recommend), or not cycle at all.
  2. karter - what CF21? No comment. I should add that that it's just what I would do if I could - personally. I wouldn't necessarily recommend anyone follow me!
  3. Well there aren't many junctions on pavements are there!?
  4. A quiet car park at a weekend is where I learned - perhaps a school? Bike in the back of a car or walk with it on the pavement. Or just a quiet residential road.
  5. Haha, think I'd like to try them too. So they come in 12's!?
  6. No, I personally think that trainers with wheels on should be banned. Keep them to homes, gardens and private places. Pavements are for walking on, with exceptions for those that are unable.
  7. "What about rollerskates? Those trainers with wheels in? " The same principle applies. In Central Park, NY they have roller-skating and cycling zones. This is fine. But not on pavements!
  8. How about they allow pedestrians to hand out fines to cyclists who insist on breaking the law by using the pavements? Self-policing is the way forward and will save our tax money! I really feel that bikes should be registered to cycle within London at least. I'm not sure how the number plates would work, but something needs to be done to make cyclists feel more responcible for their actions. I'm very much pro-cycling, but the minority spoil it for everyone else.
  9. A bike is a mode of transport, just like a motorbike or a car. You are not allowed to ride on pavements or through parks. And just because a bike is powered by natural means, doesn't make it exempt. Be thankful that you are unregistered and free from road tax and obey the highway code! Rant over.
  10. Smiler - are you suggesting free taster samples as a means to budget survival!?
  11. "a) Cross roads not at crossing points " Are you serious!?
  12. Pretty disappointing response, but I guess this is still an open case. I've now learned what the wing tips on 737's do though!
  13. I just got the same email after chasing!
  14. I'm already getting emails/calls from friends and ex-colleagues who have been made redundant over the past few weeks. A big US financial house just cut 10-15% of their workforce (3000+ people). Entire teams were cut. This didn't even make the news! My advice - if you're moving UP the property ladder, sell now (if you can) and rent. Put all your money in the Swiss Frank and wait for the bottom of the property market (est 2 years from now). Buy that bigger property after prices have fallen further and the GBP has weakened even further against the CHF.
  15. If the Drum is still open, let's do that!
  16. So how about all international flights to the Thames Estuary then airship everyone into central London? I like the idea of that! How many people can you get on an airship!?
  17. We're at the tip of the iceberg in terms of the impact the credit crunch will have on the real economy. I see what's happened with the banks so far as just the start. I'm usually very optimistic on the economy, but not this time. There will be many more job losses to come in the next year or so. All this will have a further hit on house prices, so I see a further price adjustment (down) in the coming year or two.
  18. I don't think it's a simple case of reducing the number of flights in general. Rather the sensible and fair routing of the flight paths, the altitude, speed and time of day.

It's to save time and failed > attempted deliveries as well as limit the amounts > that postmen/women have to carry. This happens a LOT and really gets my back up. The number of times I have to pop over to Sylvester Road on Saturday morning, but because they either can't be bothered to ring my door bell or bring along the parcel. The ED sorting office really needs a shake-up. The postal service here has be dreadful ever since I moved to ED.
  20. lard - interesting link (the second one). How did you find that and why is it on a nowinnofee website?
  21. I'm personally not saying that they should start reducing flights, but there must be something they can to in terms of staggering flight paths over the London approach. Going through the replay on that website, they all follow pretty much exactly the same path over ED on any given day. I realise that wind is a factor, but 9 flights in 30 minutes all taking the same flight path seems pretty excessive. Why can't they come in on slightly different paths, at least to reduce the frequency in the affected areas. I would like better understand exactly what has changed in the past 5 years. I suspect it's mostly altitude, as I always remember flights going directly over ED. Most of those flights are at around 4000 feet! Seems they are all coming in over the North East/Peckham Rye side of East Dulwich. That explains why it's so noisy for me!
  22. Where is Wishing Well?
  23. I've only ever tasted the Liquorish coffee in a Espresso Martin and those are GREAT!
  24. I'm a fan of Adventure. Whoever said the drinks there are not strong clearly didn't try to Whisky Sour!
  25. Capacity at City increasing 50%, so that's no going to help!
