  1. ..the kind staff at M&S have got it safely for you.
  2. Just wanted to say that - like many of us - I?m trying to reduce my household waste and karavan have been fab with refilling my soap/washing up liquid/detergent bottles. They?ll refill any bottle that has a measurement on it, so it doesn?t need to be in an ecover bottle.
  3. Just a plea to everyone to be extra careful when using the crossing by the station. I don?t know what it is about those lights but there seems to be frequent erratic behaviour by drivers there. As I crossed with my children this morning we waited for the red light and the green man and were very nearly hit by a car that sped up coming down the hill and went through the red light. We were shaken but thankfully unhurt. I always, always tell my children to check that the road is clear even when the green man first appears but at that crossing more than most it seems particularly necessary.
  4. Thanks everyone. I will investigate further!
  5. Looking for a bit of advice... We live in a terraced house and over the winter months have had some water leaking down an inside wall. The house has a Loft extension that has a pitched roof at the back so it?s a bit difficult to access the roof and see where the problem is coming from. We?ve been quoted ?1000 to have someone put scaffolding up to look at what the problem is, ie completely separate to any work that we would actually have done on the roof. This seems a bit absurd to me, so I was just wondering if anyone else has had similar experience of roof work done and could offer any advice? Thanks Naomi
  6. Nicola Watson also excellent for us - feel free to pm me for more info...
  7. Thanks so much for this - what you do is greatly appreciated by those of us who use the path every day. I'm currently heavily pregnant so not able to do any gardening but will keep in touch with this thread when am less incapacitated. Thanks again
  8. Someone having a snooze in The Gardens today while I went to the dentist - had their engine on when I arrived and still on half an hour later. I wish I'd been more courageous and asked them to switch it off!
  9. Anyone know what's happening to the house on the corner of Copleston Road and Oglander Rd? Pretty serious scaffolding and looks as though it's maybe being converted from a home into something else?
  10. Hi all, I was wondering if there is a regular 10k run somewhere locally? I've heard rumours about a weekly one in Dulwich park but can't find anything definite online. Does anyone know? Thanks!
  11. Hello, This evening I tripped and fell near ED station while carrying my baby in her car seat. (She's fine). I was immediately helped by several concerned passers by, and I just wanted to say that I'm really grateful. I was a bit too shocked to say so at the time. Was really nice to feel like we live in an area full of people looking out for one another. Thanks.
  12. Last time I used QRP station I was told that the lift could only function if there was somebody on duty in the ticket office. I hope these planned closures don't mean we will lose the lift too.
  13. Is the offer for SE22 residents? I am practically your neighbour but just over the border into SE15!
  14. The burger deal on a Tuesday is nice - burger plus chips and a beer for ?10...
  15. If they are wipe clean plastic ones, the Evelina children's hospital is always looking for donations...
  16. Thank you very much everyone. It seems perhaps that we try and work out some sort of routine and then see if getting her off to sleep at the same time every day (using whatever means possible!) is the way forward. She does seem far too young to be left to cry so will start with the sling and hi from there. It's encouraging to hear success stories from other people!
  17. Hello, I'm looking for advice regarding our second little one who fights sleep night and day. She screams and screams until she eventually crashes out exhausted leaning us all exhausted. She is only seven weeks old so I know it's early to think about a routine and I don't want to leave her to cry but I feel I'm being cruel by not facilitating her need for sleep. Am doing all the usual things - swaddling, creating a good sleeping environment - but nothing seems to be working. If I feed her to sleep she wakes up shortly afterwards so that doesn't seem like an option either. Id welcome any encouragement from people who've experienced something similar!
  18. Thanks all. Point taken about my choice of where I live etc etc, I do just think that this much noise starting at 6.45 or before is not ideal!
  19. Just wondering if it's completely necessary or acceptable for the timber yard near East Dulwich station to start using their vehicles before 8am with the incredibly loud "stand clear, vehicle reversing" sound that their machines use. Are they not subject to the same noise rules as other builders etc?!
  20. Thanks so much for getting in touch. Was hoping to find something to start in the next few weeks, so would love to hear of recommendations for a class that would be able to start a little sooner...
  21. Hi there, Just wondered if anyone had any recommendations for pregnancy Pilates (not yoga). Am expecting my second little one and found Pilates so useful last time! My lovely teacher, Luisa, is off on maternity leave herself at the moment so am on the lookout for someone new. Thanks!
  22. Just want to sing the praises of the new coffee place on Grove Vale. The coffee and cakes are delicious, lots of lovely lunch options and really friendly staff. Much nicer than the rival chain across the road! Their croissants and pan au chocolats are yummy too.
  23. One of my favourite parenthood mantras is "if it's not a problem for you, it's not a problem". If youre ok with them falling asleep on you now, just go with it. I worried about this putting down awake so much - now my five month old doesn't want to fall asleep on me at all anymore and I miss the sleepy cuddles! Your little one will def come through this when they are ready so I reckon don't put yourself under too much pressure.
  24. Sorry to add myself to the cancellation list, but my husband has managed to give me his tummy bug and I don't want to pass it on :( I'd be very keen to come to the next one though! Nx
  25. Hello, I'm new to this thread and am expecting my first on May 2nd! Would love to meet up with other mums out there! I'm able to be around for coffee next Wednesday morning too. Thanks Naomi xx
