    First Dates

I love First Dates, the staff are the icing on the cake as I love watching. The interest they have in the couples & their little asides. The dates leave me with either a feeling warm glow of what early dates with Mr Buggie felt like, or really, really glad that I'm well out of the dating game!
  2. Rest assured that HV teams/public health will have records of all that haven't had the jab & once vaccination is stocked (was due to arrive this month) will be running extra clinics & am sure appointment letters will be sent to all, but this has been a problem for several months & am sure those nearer to 1yr will be targeted first.
  3. Well worth looking at eric.org.uk they've a "We need to talk about poo" campaign running at the moment & engaging with his teachers/ask to have chance to discuss it with the sch nurses - the teachers are bound to be in from beginning of next wk so will be as to grab them before he starts back. Hope all goes well x
  4. Similar to Carrie & Sanity Girl, mild discomfort and bit crampy. Do wonder how much anxiety and fear precipitate pain in this sort of thing and am surprised that the tone would be taken in a feature about it that it is so painful as could be setting up a self-fulfilling-prophecy to those about to have it done... would suggest looking into visualisation and positive thought before local anaesthetic as if (literally) tense, no amount of anasthetic would help.
  5. Would often see children & adults after these sorts of incidents in A&E - to confirm no serious injury, but does also give full report of alleged incident/injuries (even if minor) sustained. Fingers crossed you get answers & hope your daughter is ok x
  6. Oooo, no recommendations, but can you take me in your suitcase?!
  7. I've uncovered a mixed bag of baby/children's clothes tonight which I'd be v happy to pass on too 😊
  8. Unsure if this would help: http://www.eric.org.uk/assets/downloads/136/Children%20who%20will%20only%20poo%20into%20a%20nappy.doc Worth looking on the Eric website (www.eric.org.uk) as +++ info & agree Poo goes to Pooland v good too. Is very normal for kids to get one be dry before clean or vice versa know with daughter I worried I was going to be buying new knickers every week as they were getting thrown away at nursery so frequently, but it clicked - think a bit of help from stickers/chocolate & promise of new magazine/toy helped too!!
  9. Will look at Pretty's window, and so far Montassa it seems we are viewing stuff that LL's/agents are ok to offer 6m contracts on but dependent on what other offers they get. KathrynA - thanks for heads up but dates & location wrong (got childcare/sch in Nunhead so want to stay bit nearer x)
  10. We've got building work starting at end of Aug & are looking for a short term/6m let to enable our builders to crack on & (hopefully) enable us to keep a bit of sanity/some degree of a normal life! Have posted in the residential section, but not any luck yet & wondered if I'd catch a different crowd here. Looking for 2 bedrooms, furnished/semi furnished ideally & our max budget is around ?1450 a month. Any advice on where to look welcome from those who've done this before - beginning to feel a bit stressed that we won't find anything 😣
  11. Had news on a meds newsletter in my (nearby to here)trust, that there should be stock in in Aug
  12. Am sure that those of you on their caseload already are secure as would guess from Sept it wil be new bookings they'll take (it would be daft to be trying to take on ladies close to delivery). Am sure calling them will be the most straightforward route to finding out what to expect.
  13. There was at least one other infant feeding midwife at KCH when I needed help with my daughter nearly 5yrs ago so three is at least one person continuing her work at the trust, but know even when I was working at KCH there would often be recruitment freezes to try & help towards budget cuts (thus the chancellor talking about keeping public pay pretty well frozen means keeping more in work has a hugely hollow ring to it). Claire is a total legend though, had a one-to-one teaching session with her as a newly qualified staff nurse (no one else in the dept could attend) which was amazing (if just a bit daunting!) and the level of care I saw her giving parents was inspirational.
  14. The window is up to 1yr old & as I understand there should be adequate stock in NY then. Believe the shortage is nationwide so unsure anyone else would have supply & can imagine it not being done privately as low demand & wastage issues (one vial contains 10+ doses but has to be used within few hrs thus it's done as clinic format). Know it seems worrying to hear this, but hopefully will be sorted soon.
  15. Won't your surgery register him as an emergency patient?
  16. There are definitely Milk Spots in Lewisham & Greenwich. Think it's standard across the country to offer this sort of community support to mums needing help to breast feed. What the individual funding/use of MW's v's volunteer/peer support/availability of service, I don't know, but am aware it varies.
  17. Would you like to look at the thread here: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,1532959
  18. It's lambethmilkspots (all one word) on FB. Am guessing there'll be clearer explanation tomorrow. It's a worrying precedent given that from Oct all HV/sch nursing services are going to be commissioned by LA & yet this suggests they've been trying to cut corners already. Maybe we should get our local councillors involved?
  19. Pretty sure it's it completed yet.
  20. Anyone else seen this on the Lambeth Milkspots FB page?
  21. Although in this situation, for whatever reason the system didn't work (and this could be that the caller didn't manage to convey the severity of the case - call takers can only make decisions based on the quality of info given). No doubt there will be a case review, and that any changes required will be made. The idea of the set of assessment questions is that nothing is missed & the call taker is able to get all information required - without this important questions/pieces of info could be missed and in a life threatening situation (ie not breathing/cardiac arrest), would not delay the dispatch of an ambulance. It is really important to let them ask the questions and collate all info and does follow the Airway, breathing, circulation model that any emergency triage assessment is based upon. It's often easy to criticise people doing jobs that many wouldn't want to do themselves - the pressure (around 4500 calls a day, abuse they often face and the immense emotional stress - even after my years in A&E I was always appreciative of the care and calming effect LAS crews/call takers had often had on families paving the way for us to take over. 22. I have friends with sons who've read the Phoenix for a few years & really love it - they often have events/workshops which they've attended & enjoyed, often London based so worth looking out for. Love the story behind the comic too (in Simone's link).
  23. Its really confusing - will ask Southwark HV colleagues what they know about the cuts & see if there's any info about it in my area too. Coming so close to the handover of commissioning of services to LA it doesn't set a great precident. Having experienced the service as a Mum myself & seeing the positive effects they have on families in my caseload (as a student HV), I'm really shocked & saddened to hear of these cuts 😔 Afaik (currently) no cuts to the GSTT commissioned Lambeth services, but these are too for most families in this area to easily access.
  24. But confused that Kings are cutting them as its GSTT that run them - no mention on the Lambeth Milkspots FB page (which advertises the Southwark & Lambeth breastfeeding services) that there are to be these cuts. Is there any link to the news the provision is to be cut? Would be useful to see.
  25. Where's Bellenden School moving to? Know Belham Free School'll be opening at the old Bellenden Sch building but hadn't realised the existing Bellenden Sch would be moving too.
