  1. Would have been useful to have warnings of this work on the S Circular. This is my route to work & had no idea why traffic was so bad the last 2 days - properly signposted warnings could have allowed me to make adjustments to my route rather than add to the congestion 😡 (Driving is required for work before anyone suggests public transport - would rather be on bus/train looking at Socail Media!).

My friend thoughts exactly Molly - this is final part of my journey home to Nunhead and have been surprised in last few weeks how slow & jammed Sydenham Rise can get & have equally ended Up going down to Overhill Road to get home 😩 not great when there's 2x childcare to collect from!
  3. Was going to suggest the Delauney too - got a fantastic '40's feel and while not been in with kids myself, have seen lots of families in there...they do a fab afternoon tea 😆
  4. Wouldn't take temperanceb very seriously - think she's a bit advertising a website to get your essays written by someone else!
  5. Saw The Snail & the Whale during its Edinburgh run - was utterly mesmerising! Boing looks amazing too - we're so lucky in this area for theatre!
  6. There's been a nationwide shortage of the BCG vaccine over the last 18mths-2yrs. Has been intermittent supply, thus some have/some haven't had the vaccine, and due to this am guessing that different areas have different ways of ensuring those most vulnerable get the immunisation (ie- under 3mths). There are forum users stretched over 3 different local authorities which likely causes differences in what is happening. The BCG programme is organised via public health, which now comes under local authority control (thanks gov'ts cutting & changing - all at huge costs - of NHS services), thus, no point calling GP as they don't have anything to do with it. The nationwide shortage would include supplies to private providers as well and with one vial being enough for 10-12 babies (but needing to be used within a few hours) it's rarely given privately. Far from skipping over HV's, would say they are the key liaison point regarding the immunisation and (when it is in stock & often at short notice)they run the BCG clinics. It has been hugely frustrating for the HV teams as well as the has been v poor/inconsistent info from further up the chain. It's unclear why there suddenly was the shortage. Interestingly, now that I've qualified as a HV, I'm now working a bit further out and it isn't offered as a universal immunisation... Weird not having to explain about it & why it isn't available at the moment.
  7. As suggested above, discuss with the school or look through the previous newsletters on the website - there have been very clear communications with parents regarding the situation, but guess this might not have been received by new parents. Sign up to Parentmail asap, and come along to the Parent Forum meeting on 4th Oct at 7pm where it will no doubt be discussed.
  8. We have used sitters and have a regular lady we use from there who we love!
  9. We used Prestige and were v happy with them and the results 😊http://www.prestigebuild.net
  10. The road closure could've been dependent on the condition of the person injured - awaiting news from the hospital as to if they were likely to survive or not as this changes the nature of the investigation. Having spent 10yr+ working in a local A&E I know it was often the first and repeated query of accompanying police & often wouldn't be clear for a few hours.
  11. Your inbox is full!! Just wanted to say your parking the other day looked absolutely fine ;-)
  12. As above really - friend has just had a baby & needs to borrow a pump (ideally medela or similar - is electric not hand!). Thanks in advance!!

In your daughter's red book should be details of other local clinics you can attend and the contact details for your HV team - am surprised & saddened the GP surgery has t directed you to this. Due to gov't cuts to the public health budget which is held by the LA's (HV's not seen as frontline NHS staff so not protected from cuts) there are lots of changes afoot with local child health clinics/HV provision - having has the trust making me sign a document confirming I'd work for them for 2yrs after qualifying, I've had to find a job in another trust as they are actually looking to reduce HV numbers so not employing any students qualifying this year. Want to be clear though that I & many of my colleagues do not blame the LA - we are v aware this is due to the austerity measures at national level.
  14. Cat Food Cakes (made by Cat not for Cats!) is a new business in Crofton Park making amazing cakes https://www.instagram.com/p/BE9a44zL688/?taken-by=catfoodcakes
  15. Were there not changes to the regulations following the fatal fire in the block of flats in Camberwell? Utterly terrible situation & hope that appropriate support is offered by those at fault. Am aghast that such newly built flats were so poorly made.
  16. Glad to see you posting Belle - was hoping you'd find this 👍🏻😉
  17. I went (having win a free pass) with my friend and our daughters(both 5yo) and was really, really impressed. Everything was available and well staffed, several activities work together to create a bit of drama (several times an hour!) and having been certain we wouldn't use the whole 4hrs we were surprised to leave feeling we could have stayed longer. As the girls were going into activities on their own it gave my friend and I the best chance to catch up we've had since before the girls were mobile, and they came out having only spent 4 kidzo saw most activities paid them! We went mid afternoon on a Saturday and were surprised how short queues were (think 1/2hr was longest wait - but lots to see & watch while queueing. Unsure if take an under 5yo (in terms of value for money) but definitely plan to return at some point.
  18. Have PM'd you a bit more info xx
  19. Have you d/w your HV? Even if you feel a strong tie in with your cycle, wouldn't want to exclude PND and there should be rapid assessment pathways available with you having an infant under 1yr - even if it turned out not to be PND, you shouldn't be having to endure feeling like this on a monthly basis at such a vulnerable time to you & your child xx
  20. Yes, which is why the savings made to future health/social care budgets via early intervention is so important, also, given the investment of tax payers money into building HV numbers, it seems daft to be cutting back before the benefits pay off (might as well put money in a bond and then loose a load of it paying early payout fees), when a bit of patience would pay huge dividends.
  21. Saw this & thought should share: http://www.communitypractitioner.com/news/guys-and-st-thomas-reduces-number-of-posts-of-health-visitors-and-school-nurses Wiith the ongoing battles with junior doctors & SAT's/threatened academisation of schools, this might not seem such a big thing, but this comes within a year of a 5yr project to increase HV numbers by 5000, and at a time when the importance of early intervention/perinatal and infant mental health have huge evidence bases (http://www.1001criticaldays.co.uk if interested). While its LA's that are shouldering the decision making, pretty certain it's the cuts to the public health budgets from central government that force their hand.
  22. Found popping my phone into a sports sock/cut down sock prevents sweaty phone issues when tucking into my sports bra! Love the bra ring idea, but annoyingly mine is crop top style so no ring clip 😕
  23. Definitely an induction hob - wasn't sure I'd cope w/o gas, but am completely evangelical now!! Don't think there's such a thing as too much storage especially pan drawers!
  24. My neighbour goes (?year 9 now) and another friends daughter goes & bo seem to be doing well - it's several years off for my daughter, but it's on my radar as somewhere I'll be seriously considering.
  25. We've just completed a side return project, but are end of terrace. Our next door neighbours were very supportive and lovely regarding the work, good lines of communication already existed. However, we had to spend a considerable amount on a party wall survey for the party wall we built out to which runs along the bottom of the garden of a house on the row perpendicular to us. We also agreed to make right any paving/damage done to the bottom of the garden during the build. We had to apply for planning permission, but are over in Nunhead ?slightly bigger footprint than ED house we couldn't do it under PD. It was during the planning permission consultation that this neighbour raised all the concerns and we had to agree to the surveyor to be able to do the project (the neighbour then disputed the award the surveyor he chose - all very confusing but thankfully completed now!). Would suggest opening friendly lines of communication with your neighbours/being welcome to attempts from them would be most important in co-operative and considerate working.
