  1. As a former pizza delivery driver the first thing I was told was you either come back with the pizza or the money, so I doubt it! Well done to the OP for helping him. rahrahrah Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Blimey, tough gig delivering pizzas. > Out of interest did he leave you some pizza?
  2. Jeremy, pretty sure that's Ali Baba (juice stall formerly in the alley off rye lane) opening up a juice/cocktail bar. http://www.babaworld.co.uk/vacancies/ Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Nigello Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > A new pizzeria, brought to you by the Peddler > > people, will be opening in a fortnight on > > Bellenden Road > > Oh good... hadn't heard any news for a while so > wasn't sure if that was still going ahead. 3. To be honest, not sure you'll find what you're looking for on LL. Brickhouse is usually pretty reliable and French House (not sure what time it's open) can be good too. As mentioned previously if you're willing to venture slightly further afield, Old Spike in Peckham and St David's in Forest Hill are both excellent.
  4. Thanks Saffron, good suggestion.
  5. Hi, Hoping to get some thoughts on how others dealt with this problem. My wife is currently on maternity leave, but after the summer will be back at work. We've found a nursery that we like for both our children closer to home (we recently moved and our son is currently at a different one),but it's going to be difficult to get them there and in to work on time. Neither of us work in jobs where the employer can be flexible with start times. We'd need someone to help us 3 days a week to come and help kid the kids ready at 7am then drop them off at nursery. Would be an hour to an hour and a half each day. Are there nannies that do this type of work?
  6. Collecting and have quite a few swaps. During the World Cup the Old Nun's Head had a swap night and it was great, with plenty of people although maybe more interest with the World Cup ones. If there's enough interest, perhaps we could organise another one somewhere?
  7. See the bottom of the 'traffic jam' thread from yesterday. Probably the same thing.
  8. Another recommendation for Elliot. He recently built and painted some alcove shelving in our place and we are extremely happy. Several people have commented on how great they look when coming over. He's a pleasure to deal with and we're very happy that we've found him. He's honest, hard working, reasonable and a real perfectionist. We've already booked him in for some more work in a few months. We've dealt with a lot of tradesman from the forum the last few years as we've moved house twice and Elliot was the best we've used. Happy to send through some photos if anyone is interested. 9. Anyone know of any places that have stock of the vaccine locally?
  10. Anyone know of anyone in the area? Have a couch to donate that won't fit in our car. Thanks, Adam
  11. Jeremy, Few months have passed now, but we've taken the plunge and really glad we have, so thanks for the adivce. We were able to sell our 2 bed flat in ED and buy a 3 bed house in Crofton Park (with some additional funds), and so far it seems great. There's some really good pubs/bars/cafes and as you said Honor Oak and Brockley are also on your doorstep. Hard to explain, but the people around seem very friendly too. When you go into a cafe or pub or pharmacy and the staff seem to know their customers. Didn't see that much in ED. I'd say go for it.
  12. Also from Melbourne and living in ED. Grew up not far from the bayside suburbs you mentioned (in Ormond) and think it's a great place to live. If we do go back, the places you mention are probably the areas we'll be looking in too. Only negative is the transport into city can be a bit tedious from those areas if you or hubby are working centrally. The Sandringham line is notorius for delays and cancellations. Although, this is going back a few years to when I lived there, so maybe things have improved. If you have any questions before or after your trip, happy to help.
  13. Agreed, get rid of the pub. It's a joke entering/exiting the station during peak hours and opening up another entrance would make a huge difference. edcam Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Jeremy Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > > > > Getting rid of a the pub would be a complete > waste > > of a good space. > > > Have you not used the station lately? 14. [email protected] This one should work. I've always found it easier to get him on phone or text though as not sure he checks his email during the day.
  15. Anyone have thoughts of Crofton Park? Similar to several others on this thread, we've been priced out of ED so looking at other areas. Found a place we love, but never spent much time around there, so don't know what it's like.
  16. Another recommendation for Steve. Fixed our dishwasher and washing machine earlier in the week. Came on time, didn't charge the earth and was a nice guy to have around. Will be using him again should he be needed.
  17. Food pretty good and as Mrs Jeremy says very reasonably priced. Atmosphere, service and cocktails all excellent!
  18. We've been looking for something similar, really surprised there's nothing in the area considering how many buggies you see around!
  19. Nando's, Wahaca, Carluccio's are all great shouts for that location! I could see all of them thriving with the cinema so close.
  20. Bit harsh BNG, there's been quite a few street food vendors who have made a very successful transition. Meat Liquor, Burger Bear, Pizza Pilgrims etc......
  21. Do we know what purpose the scaffolding is serving? Seems to have been up for ages with very little work going on. Similarly in that little strip, what is happening at the old french place? There seemed to be a lot of activity a few months ago, but that seems to have stopped.
  22. Just to confirm this was spot on. Left it last night and gone this morning with the brown bin collection. Thanks again, much appreciated. 23. Thanks for the tips guys, really appreciate it!!
  24. Hi, looking for some advice. Always had a fake tree in the past, but the Mrs got excited this year and bought a fairly large real one. Any tips on where/how to dispose of it locally? I don't have a saw to cut it up to put in the brown bin. Thanks
  25. Thanks, appreciate that. indiepanda Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > TFL currently says: > > RYE LANE, SE15: Bus routes 12, 37, 63, 78, 197, > 343, 363 and P12 are subject to diversion and > delays in both directions on Rye Lane, SE15 due to > emergency roadworks.
