Dulwich Park - Dogs Must be Kept on Short Lead
chuff replied to Sue0103's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The reason I'm not using the outer track at the moment cazfay is that it's been really muddy and I'm not always dressed for just dog walking, a lot of the time I'm on my way to work, walking through and giving the dog a walk too. I use it more in the summer when the ground is dry and the park's busier. -

They probably will yes, but this minority will probably do lots of anti social acts and even other dog owners will dislike others that don't pick up poo! The majority of us are responsible and considerate, even those that don't pay high earners tax! That tax comment was ridiculous btw. What Jah said. There has been no evidence so far that the op was attacked by the dog, or whether it actually touched her. A thoroughly sensationalist post. Tell me uncleglen, what's the solution? -

First mate, it was the sports pitches I meant when talking about inner green areas but not all grassed areas are meant to be used as sports pitches. The grass outside the cafe for instance is probably not dogs on leads but a good idea so they don't run into the cafe area. It states in the Southwark web link that the main road/path is not within the dogs on leads area so why do we keep having this debate about dogs being off lead there? They're allowed to be. As cyclists are allowed to cycle and every other permitted activity in the park can happen there too. I agree the councils signs are confusing though. Firstmate, I agree with you btw, second para not directed at you. -

Just read the link ianr posted a link to. The dogs on leads areas are inside of the tarmac road/path. This includes the area around the cafe, pond, children's playground and inside the tennis courts. It also includes the grass pitches surrounding these areas but not the path and grass outside. -

Maybe if you'd started the exchange with the dog owner with 'I'm scared of dogs' rather than a passive aggressive 'shouldn't your dog be on a lead', you might have met with a better response. Most dog owners would quickly remove their dog and apologise in that situation. The park is a public space, it's not always the experience that we'd want but that's tough really. We choose to use these spaces and we have to muddle along together. I'm confused about the tax issue though? How does that relate to the park? -
My youngest went to the Dulwich Wood Nursery before starting at Dulwich Village Infants, I honestly thought Dulwich Wood was fantastic with my boy who at the time was refusing to speak. They identified this without any prompting from me and let him spend time in a sensory room before asking If i'd like to refer him for speech therapy. I had already put this in place but was impressed with the staff identifying a potential problem. He turned out just to be a stubborn thing and now doesn't stop, but still, they were good. The surroundings of Dulwich Wood and Langbourne aren't the best and it did put me off a bit, but my experience there was all good. We live right by the village schools so it was a natural move once we had a place. I certainly wouldn't discount these schools and well worth a visit. Also i've seen quite a lot of movement in DVIS and Dulwich Hamlet over the years, my eldest son was offered a place half way through reception due to moving to the area. good luck.

You'll need to tell them as if you get an offer, they'll require proof of address in March/April that's current. Otherwise you'll go on to the waiting list then and potentially you could have missed a space that was offered to someone earlier, that lives further than you. I'd wait until you actually get a moving date though, it could take a while to get a buyer and then it's usually about 3 months after until completion. If you want The Charter, you're probably going to have to try to find something as closeby. Good luck.

The post office in Shepherd's is highly unlikely according to those that know (or don't). Looking at the size of the shop and the extended opening hours they have, then I can see how it might be tricky.

Mine are doing the same thing, also with smallish rats. Glad they're doing it, not glad they're dragging them through the cat flap as presents.
-
Oh I'm glad the owner was there and able to deal with it right away. Thanks for letting me know, I hope the cat makes it. My friend said it was awful but the bus was moving so didn't see the outcome, she did say someone was there trying to stop it. I hope your neighbour and her cat recover soon!

Have just been told by someone that observed from a bus, that a grey cat was attacked about ten minutes ago on the grass verge outside maxwell court on dulwich common. If you live closeby and own a grey cat, please check they're ok. Don't have much information I'm afraid apart from one dog was a jack Russell and the other looked like a Hungarian viszla. I hope the cat got away, this isn't meant to fuel any anti dog posts but to hopefully inform someone that might be nearby and able to look for an injured cat or missing theirs.

http://www.baumatic.co.uk/triobl.html I quite like the look of these too, they do pink, red, cream too in the version without the drawers. Again, no idea on quality but the gloss looks nice. I've got mine in the dining room part of my kitchen and it doesn't feel out of place, even though it's a huge hunk of metal :)

can't find a pic online with hatch open, so here's an old, dark one of mine.

http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/home-appliances/refrigeration/american-style/RSH7ZNRS1/XEU?subsubtype=h-series I have this one, the hatch on the main door acts as a mini bar with the bottles in the big shelf behind. You can keep your wine in there and just press for the hatch to flip out and lay flat, put your glass on, fill glass up and then put bottle back without opening door. It doesn't take up any extra space either. Quite handy and right next to the water and ice dispenser.

Also, after owning 3 smeg appliances over the years, including a very pretty fridge freezer in a colour I loved. I have to say the quality isn't great, the fridge freezer always had an ice monster and the door eventually fell off. It also liked to collect mildew in the door seals (yuk). I wouldn't buy smeg again even though they are lovely to look at. Britannia do red and cream american style fridge freezers, can't comment on quality though. http://www.appliancecity.co.uk/products/fridges-and-freezers/american-style-fridge-freezers/filter_mk=britannia Oh and yes LG seem good too. We have also swapped our pioneer tv for a samsung and are rather impressed with that too.

I have a Samsung and despite wanting one of the more expensive brands, am actually really glad I bought it. No trouble so far and it works like a dream. I have a bar hatch opening on mine, which is a great little feature too. But the best part is definitely the price. http://www.appliancesdirect.co.uk/bct/refrigeration/samsung-american-fridge-freezers

yesterday's Aquarius Music Festival

Was a lovely afternoon and thought the kids bands were brilliant. -
Or an ash toner, you might even get one of those in sainsburys.
-
If you can't get a touch of silver shampoo, redken do a really good one that tones the yellow down. They sell it in Harold George in the village, expensive but they're open tomorrow. Don't leave them on for too long though as it will have a green tinge which looks worse than yellow.

Louloulabelle If you want a nice place for a party but decide against the gazebo, the trees in the centre of the American gardens are good for stringing bunting, people don't walk through much of it, there is shade if it's a hot day and enclosed but plenty of space. I've seen and been to many children's parties there.
