  1. I always try to get a mobile number so I can confirm a collection, I've been giving a lot of free stuff away on here recently. However more than 50% just don't reply to messages or turn up, the people that do though are usually great but it has really put me off. I've even had nasty messages from someone after saving something for them and then them vanishing for days on end, not replying to messages until I tell them I've had to give it to someone else. It just isn't worth it.
  2. Are you referring to the two big areas of grass on the inside of the path? It's an odd one there, it's not specifically central around the pond or the cafe and the signs aren't nearby (though we have already noted that the signs aren't particularly well placed). It's probably quite hard to keep dogs that are off lead on the path, just next to those greens, off them. If they are indeed dogs on leads areas then they would be better off with a fence or a row of planting to separate them.
  3. The signs have a big 5 in a circle with the wording I think for cyclists to give way to pedestrians. There have been a few accidents with cyclists speeding round so I suppose it's to make it clear it's not a road as such. Most cyclists there use common sense and slow down when people are about, it's the odd few that do as they please, just like the serial not picking up dog poo culprits and the litterers etc. No idea how they expect to enforce it but most likely it will be other people shouting at speeding cyclists to slow down and directing them to the signs.
  4. In Dulwich Park, dogs aren't allowed in the children's play areas or the tennis courts, they are fenced off so quite easy to stop if the gates are shut. They can be off lead on the grass outside the play areas though but not on the designated sports pitches when games are on. They are meant to be on a lead around the pond, in the American gardens and outside the cafe too and aren't allowed on the bridge by the pond. I agree the signs are misleading as they're dotted about on the outside track and half way round the main road. The byelaws are the the best thing to follow. There are new 5mph signs now at College road and Court Lane entrances for cyclists.
  5. I think I saw them yesterday on Desenfans road, if I see them again I'll report it
  6. Hi there The cat I saw didn't have the shaved patch so can't be yours and I thought after posting that my sighting was probably before your cat went missing. If I do see him again though, I will check for the patch. I hope he comes home.
  7. Really glad he came home! esme
  8. ps, he wasn't very big so may not be your cat. Not compared to my cats anyway.
  9. could this be him? I've been away for a week and a half but a little black cat was hanging around Court Lane and Desenfans road around 2 weeks ago. I thought he was Pippy who was missing at the time but he's now home and just wondering if it's your cat instead? He certainly looks very similar. I haven't seen him since I got back on saturday but will keep my eyes open if you think it could have been him. Very friendly, play biting etc and trying to get in my house. I didn't let him as I have two dogs and two big male bengals and didn't want to freak him out! e
  10. I've only noticed them recently too, circling around the garden at night. I'm in Court Lane.

    Dogs in Bags

She is recovering thanks but will need to be wheeled around for the next 6 weeks. It does look rather ridiculous but is actually a great solution to still being able to walk the very mobile rescue mutt that we also have. Dashies have short legs and long walks can be hard for them so bags are also a great idea. Not so much for mine as she's one of the larger ones at 12kgs. They have become more popular recently as they're great dogs so I can see why lots have them, but I wouldn't have another, not now I know how much they can suffer. They suffer from something called ivdd along with other chondrodystrophic breeds (beagles, bassets etc). It's really painful for them and unbelievably expensive surgery. Supervet at just under 6k for ours.... On a lighter note, some people carry the very small ones in bags to sneak them into places, not just dachshunds though, many small breeds.

    Dogs in Bags

Dachshunds are dogs so if dogs are carried in bags, wouldn't dachshunds be included? They tend to suffer from back injuries so highly likely you will see one being carried. My own has just had spinal surgery and is travelling around in a pram. Problem with that Sue?
  13. Thank you, he came home this morning :)
  14. My male Bengal Hobbes has been missing since Saturday morning from Court Lane SE21. If anyone spots him, please message me. Thank you.
  15. That's great news
  16. He was microchipped and now home
  17. pic from twitter
  18. He looks black and tan. I'll try to grab the twitter pic and attach here for you if I can. Will keep my eyes open, I have a female that looks just the same!
  19. Has anyone lost a ginger cat that's missing its tail? Very friendly, very hungry but desperately thin. Will try to get to a vet tomorrow but please let me know if anyone recognises him/her. Currently on Court Lane SE21.
  20. The charter have sent an email saying there were 2 attempted abductions. Copy and paste We have been advised of two attempted abductions of younger children near local schools. We are advising that, if possible, you ask your children to walk to and from school in pairs or small groups. Please also remind them that if they see anything suspicious then the police should be called on 999 or they should let school staff know as soon as they come into school.
  21. Grants Shoes, could never afford them!
  22. pop up clothes shop
  23. We use Sunrise in Purley for mother in law who has dementia. The care and facilities are great but it is expensive. She currently makes use of all the trips available so we are finding it worthwhile at the moment.
  24. parking is for members only in the car park, there is free parking outside. The barriers are broken but due to be fixed, once they are working then you can only get in by swiping your membership card.
