You'll find parking around NCR and the surrounding streets v.busy on Friday as the Mosque on NCR will be in full swing. I know that's not the technical term.
I've seen Dr Feelgood play the Newlands as a 15 year old, how on earth did I get in? Also the Blockheads and Elvis Costello played, sadly did not see. Can anyone confirm Dire Straights did a gig there in their early days? Slightly off topic about the same time I saw The Sensational Alex Harvey Band supported by The Troggs at the Empire Ballroom, broke the heel off my platform boot!
Anyone gonna mention Mr Covers.. Joe Cocker With a Little Help from My Friends Beatles While you see a chance Stevie Winwood First We Take Manhattan Leonard Cohen All fine by me
As Siduhe mentioned it's the probably the bugger at the Horniman. We're on Underhill near Melford and subject to wind direction hear him most mornings. Chicken Merengo anyone?
GBK and BBC are owned by Clapham House Group. They buy proven small chains and roll them out. Where can you direct me to GBK not doing so well? CHG are rolling them out at a fair lick, I'd say it's their most successful brand. Tootsies on the other hand............

I cannot find a reference to it.
like it or loath it BMC has been in the vanguard of ED gentrification for at least 20 years. I did hear the guy who laid the mosaic has a house in the Bellenden area with very similar embelishments and is going to leave it to the NT. I shit you not! PS I'm not a shareholder in BMC. PPS I'm not Mel. As an aside has anyone pointed this thread out to BMC, maybe they'll act upon the comments and pull the staff into line.
I would add, be careful what you wish for. A Saturday ban on traffic is usually the thin end of the wedge towards resident permit parking only and that could kill off NCR. Lots of people drive to NCR/LL on Saturday and if permits were introduced I think this might kill off some shops. Typo edit
Info from 85 year old NCR resident (not me!) In the 50's the street market on North Cross Road went from the Palmerston to the Uplands Tavern, both sides of the street!
True, wasn't exactly thinking of the odd day trip more like a long week end, which is where Mrs. E and I will be next week end. Note for burglars: Master Eccentric will be in residence all week end so don't bother.

Hi KateW try Hope and Greenwood on NCR they have the best organic butterscotch ice cream in the world (IMHO)
We're on Underhill and have a subsidence claim going through. The guy who did our schedule of repairs last week said he had 5 properties on Underhill at present.
