  1. I agree. I feel so lucky to have found this nursery. It’s very nurturing but I’ve also been amazed at the phonics etc they do - it’s far superior to what I’ve experienced at other nurseries in the area
  2. Sorry, no, the cat I saw has markings
  3. Does Zaza have any markings or is she cream all over?
  4. None of those jobs seem urgent/necessary as opposed to stuff you would like to do, so you could take your time/save up if necessary and stagger the work. If you like the house, can afford it and it's in a good location I would go for it.
  5. It took me over three months to get an appointment with the nurse after they cancelled twice on the day of the appointment, when I had already booked time off work. Really hope they have improved... I've always had good care from the GPs, it just seems way too busy.
  6. Of course its reasonable to keep your cats in all the time Alex K & KidKruger - was in no way trying to suggest that it wasn't. I'm sorry if my post was misinterpreted.
  7. Well if you take that view, you should never let your cat out at all in case they get run over by a car. I think all cat owners need to come to their own decisions on what they feel comfortable doing.
  8. Cinnabar - I agree 100% with your post. My cat means the world to me, but I think it would be cruel to keep him in all the time because he is so happy when he's outside. At the moment the balance I've struck is to keep him in at night (even though he's not happy at all about this, because he particularly likes going out at night.) There has to be a quality of life argument here too - my cat would be so unhappy being cooped up inside all day that I don't think that would be fair.
  9. Thankyou so much for all this information. I had heard about the cats killed in Croydon but didn't realise it was a danger here too. Let me know if you need any help delivering leaflets.
  10. Horrific. Does anyone know if this is happening at night or during the day?
  11. Similar thing happened to me - thought it was very weird, the guy seemed surprised when I opened the door and then asked me questions about the windows at the back of my house & whether we had a conservatory. It felt suspicious (like he was knocking to see if someone was inside the house, and scoping out the property)
  12. If Neighbourhood Vets goes I will be devastated... I have a much loved but very poorly rescue kitten and that place has been invaluable to me
  13. Huge understanding for residents in the road. However, surely the fact that there is a high volume of traffic means residents in East Dulwich (including me) find Melbourne Grove vital? People who speed are clearly a problem & very selfish - but would be very sorry to see the majority punished for the actions of minority. As a driver I'm also starting to feel the Council isn't on my side more generally...
  14. I'm indifferent about the merits for and against Iceland, but do worry that a new M&S would take business away from the great independents on Lordship Lane - greengrocer/fishmonger/butcher/deli/baker etc - in a way that Iceland and Co-Op don't... *sigh*
  15. I've had problems with this too. The most effective way of killing them is extreme heat or extreme cold. I emptied every single cupboard and draw and washed all clothes on a high heat. While clothes out, give cupboards/wardrobe serious clean. The items I suspected of harbouring eggs I also put in the freezer after washing on high heat. This takes ages, and is laborious. But it is effective. From then on I used moth balls/strips in wardrobe and cupboards to try and keep them away.
  16. For Washington - there are loads of great free museums and art galleries along the Mall, along with the monuments - definitely worth a visit. If you want shopping/nice restaurants Georgetown is lovely. I would also definitely recommend brunch at the Tabard Inn which is a Washington institution - very cosy with a nice bar area around a fire if you fancy a glass of something beforehand.
  17. Jimbo - I know you weren't saying that - wasn't directed at you!
  18. Er... it's clear that this wasn't just a case of someone walking behind the OP up the street... he overtook her, then continued to follow her (which indicates he slowed down or waited for her) and when she started to walk quickly away he began to run to catch up...
  19. I have adopted a cat from Battersea in the last month. They do welcome visitors. There are about 10-15 cats on the floor that you can look round - they are very sweet and seem happy enough. When I've been in there was one pen of kittens both times, apparently they keep most kittens away from the main visiting floor. I'm not sure if you can go in and handle the cats though, I tend to think that if you can't it might be best to go elsewhere as there isn't a huge amount to see/do. However call up first. Not sure how it is with dogs but with cats handling them is quite important at the rescue centre so they might want volunteers to help out playing with them that could be fun
  20. Hi James, if you're canvassing opinion on the bookies being turned into a house - I would prefer a shop as agree it would encourage more people to go down to the other shops on Upland Road. However, being turned back into housing would be preferable to leaving it empty, as it's been for a while now.
  21. Btw I think it's a shame this has been moved to the lounge as it's clearly a local issue that other pet owners may want i be aware of (similarly to the pellet gun shooter, even if it's animals rather than humans)
  22. That's terrible! I think finding the owner should be a priority as they may have no idea what their cat is up to. You could leave a note around its neck saying "if this is your cat, please call xxx" or maybe try and follow it to see where it lives? The other tactic could be to try and scare it off - maybe a water pistol?
  23. Ths0105 - you're right, James Barber is standing as Lib Dem candidate. It's confirmed on the candidates list on the Lib Dem website
  24. One of them was my other half so I will let him know :-) Thanks for your lovely post and hope your mum is doing ok x
  25. I get the argument, ????. Just saying LLW campaign isn't as simple as some would like to make out.
