  1. I don't have a problem with full width speed humps although the Dunstans Road ones do seem to be a bit excessive. The divided ones are far worse and driving around it is obvious that they are not all built to the same spec. How many times do you see one with the scrapes from sump plugs scarring the top surface ? If you are forced by the flow of traffic to straddle one you would have to slow to a walking pace to avoid damage. Don't believe me ? Look at Colyton Rd, Honor Oak Rd or Consort Rd to name a few. The effect of "out of spec" humps is often compounded by subsidence in the road near the hump which compresses the suspension before you drive over it. Even worse is the way they entice people to drive straddling the central hump rather than over the one on their side of the road. I'm sick of people playing chicken driving towards me in the middle of the road.
  2. Rename it Moron junction because it seems to attract that type of driver. Either the chancer or the totally inept. From many years driving through it seems they are the ones most likely to cause an accident.
  3. A boys school in East Dulwich is absolutely needed as, I'm sure, any parent who has tried to get their son into a decent secondary school will agree. It may not be ideal but we have been without for too long. It was being talked about when my son first entered high school and he only has 1 year of sixth form left ! The arguments I've heard against the project seem to stem from NIMBY type arguments from people who live adjacent to it and will most probably cop out of any real attempt to improve the schools in the area by either going private or moving out to the country anyway. Call me cynical but I've witnessed it before in schools in the area. The loudest mouths often turn out to be those with the least social commitment. But what do they care ? In the near future they'll be sipping wine in their country cottage talking about the edgy times they spent living on the border of Peckham. And ......how many of you were outraged that the old factory site on the other side of the park got passed and developed into a landmark (?) block of flats that didn't even comply with the guidelines at the time ? Should have built a school.
  4. So that's the tacti. Forget about extending the congestion charge zone. Just keep developing flats on the sites of all petrol stations like they've been doing in recent years and you won't be able to buy fuel within the M25. THEN YOU'LL HAVE TO GET ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT.
