  1. I completely agree with your comments SFC22. Rye cars. and any other cab firm, should explain any possible extra charges up front when an original return booking is made and not suddenly appraise passengers of these additions via a driver later. I fully sympathise with your feelings when suddenly confronted with additional charges after such a long journey with 2 young children in your sole charge. Once again, some people are too busy nit-picking to read what an original poster has written and what advice they are passing on.
  2. I would guess the "fun" has already started heartblock! Apathy appears to have gone out the window and people are taking action, on whichever side, and not just in GB but in other EU countries too.
  3. I notice that no-one has commented on - "FTSE continues recovery in aftermath of Brexit shock 24/06/2016 - 16:09 The FTSE 100 recovered from the initial shock of Britain's decision to leave the European Union to end 3.15% lower at 6,138.69 which, to add context, is higher than last Friday's close." So much for Financial repurcussions !!! It would seem that the more people quote and bemoan possible dire consequences, the more they are likely to happen. A self-fulfilling prophecy, perhaps. As for the EU, if you listen to the Leaders of the main Countries, they are all saying that they agree that the whole set-up needs a good re-think. Whether we eventually stay in or come out I think the threat of BREXIT has given the EU a good shake-up and made it start to look at itself and that can only be good for all concerned.
  4. What is the point of a Low Emission Zone when car manufacturers can and do find ways around "muddying" the true figures? Recent and on-going events have shown that to-date the only benefit of testing cars was to the Manufacturers, who increased the cost of cars, and to the testers, who increased the price of the MOT tests. For every scheme that local or national government comes up with, someone always finds a way around it and the only losers are, as usual, the public!!!
  5. Phone found near Elsie Road SE22 @ 4.40 pm. Name Nafisa Ekeolere or Pele Abike shows pm me.
  6. Just a heads up to avoid Herne Hill if driving. A cyclist is down at the lights with police and ambulance in attendance and the traffic is backed up in all directions.
  7. Just a note to the wise, in case you were not aware: In Southwark any Disabled Badge holder may park in: ?Any disabled bay (please observe time limits shown on the sign in short-stay disabled bays) ?Pay and display bays - free of charge and without time limit ?Shared use (permit holders or pay and display) - free of charge and without time limit ?Waiting restrictions (single or double yellow lines) - for up to three hours, providing the clock card is displayed which is set to your time of arrival This may help you in the future to get nearer to your Mum's house when trying to deliver her home.
  8. Simple answer - YES !
  9. I agree that his presence could have been quite innocent - just wanting to relax and enjoy kids at play. At the same time it was definitely wrong to be smoking and drinking in the playground and anyone doing this should be made aware of how inappropriate these acts are within the confines of a kid's playground.
  10. Always ensure that when loaning items to anyone that you take the time and effort to deliver it to their address rather than have them pick up from yours. Then at least you will know where they live when it comes time for the return of the borrowed item.
  11. How did he manage 37 patients in 4 hours Steveo? At the standard 10 minute slot per patient (and ignoring the fact that one hardly ever gets to see a Dr at the actual booked time) that makes 6 patients per hour for 4 hours - a total of 24 patients max. Your GP seems to have fitted 9 patients into each hour!!!
  12. We always have a supply of fruit, satsumas, small apples, etc on the side for anyone that has any allergies. At least the kids collect something.
  13. Can anyone explain to me this new advertising ploy of either selling or giving items "to a good home"? Do sellers actually inspect/assess prospective buyers' properties before handing over goods?
  14. What a lovely tribute to the obviously beloved head of a grand dynasty
  15. Just a note to say that most schools in the area close at 3.30pm and time will be needed to get to them!
  16. If you read their proposals, YES they have declared war on drivers. They want to restrict car ownership/use/parking all round, get more people walking or bike-riding and even discourage people from riding on buses. Which is all very well for the fit amongst the population but the rest of us who can barely hobble to the bus stop are going to be F***** good and proper.
  17. I don't know if people realise it yet but as well as Lambeth closing almost all the through routes from Coldharbour Lane to Camberwell new Road (apart from down Denmark Street to the roundabout and right into Flodden Road) , the TFL super-highway works are closing the road A202 from the Oval to Vauxhall from 20th September to 1st October. I saw the signs up on Thursday evening but I have not seen any postings re alternative routes!
  18. These sound like the same group of 30 to 40 Bike & Quad riders who surrounded me whilst driving down Lordship lane from Hornimans to the Barry road lights on Saturday at about 5pm. They were riding everywhere. On the pavements and on both sides of the road. Doing rear wheelies and revving like mad. It was pretty hairy being amongst them. At least half of them were wearing jackets with "Bike Life TV" on the back. I was so glad when they turned off into Barry Road.
  19. to First Mate - I applaud you stating that "Parks are precious community assets and should be open to all the public at all times. The Friends of Peckham Rye should not be painted as obstructive and anti-child, they seek only to preserve the park as an amenity for all." why then should pupils attending any Harris school immediately adjacent to the park be the only ones prevented from the use of it? As far as I am aware, all schools, whatever their background, generally make some use of nearby public parks. Certainly when Waverley Girls School stood on the Boys Academy site, the Girls were often taken over to the park for Art and Gym classes, weather permitting. I know this as my daughter attended the school.
  20. YES, I've just tried to sign up for the over-60's. OK till it got to the Fusion - personal Details page then it told me a) my post code wasn't valid so I typed in my full address then b) my home tel no wasn't valid, even though I tried every combination of spacing/dashes. So using same phone I rang Fusion Dulwich and they said they will look into it but in the meantime could I come in and complete forms in the centre? So there you are.

    Crab Apples

omg - how I remember my gran's crab apple jelly - haven't thought about it for years. Wish I'd paid more attention when she was making it but I was only about 4 at the time.
  22. This sounds like a great project but probably like many others, this is the first I've heard of it. I suspect that only those people who turn up to local arts & crafts shows, local exhibitions and street or park festivals, (which I don't) are even aware of it. This probably accounts for the fact that the people shown in the video are not an accurate representation of the diverse mix we have in Peckham but only the fraction of those that were aware of the event and available to be filmed. The more publicity this project gets and the more people pass the word amongst their friends and contacts, then the more people from diverse backgrounds will turn out in support of it as it really will be a wonderful asset for Peckham, Queens Road and their residents. Updated to say that I've just spotted and read the other post in this section on The Coal Line and I don't know how I missed it last November but I'm glad I've seen it now.
  23. Thank you for informing us about this new application. I have already sent a response to it.
  24. This was part of the Bellenden renewal scheme paid for with money from the EEC, not Southwark funded in any way. They only oversaw the work in the area.
