  1. Peckham Vision do seem deeply reactionary at times. I can't recall the last housing development they supported. But I do think they have a point here. 20 stories is out of proportion to the rest of the area. Other than some of the horrific housing blocks that went up in the sixties. The Aylesham is a dump. So development is welcome. But keep the height down and the views across Peckham as they are.
  2. 2-0 to The Hamlet. 2000 crowd.
  3. 21k is an irrelevance to front line services. Do you object to the Council planting bulbs in local parks? Or should that go into the social services budget.
  4. Interestingly, 54% of people (me among them) supported the Iraq War as Parliament was having its debate. So perhaps he has a point about the dangers of leaping into something without having full knowledge of the potential consequences.
  5. That may well be the case. Some people cycle like dickheads up the canal path too, which is very dangerous. But people are going so slowly over the crossing that it doesn't appear to me to be dangerous to pedestrians. Peckham as a whole needs a cycling audit. The bit between the library and the top of Peckham Rye Park is awful. Ill thought out cycle paths, crappy road-surfaces, demented costermongers. It's the least favourite bit of my journey to work.

None of your business. Although I don't. It appears it's not CGS anyway. In which case the money should be going towards finding a cure for cancer.
  7. I go across that junction around ten times a week for the last couple of years and I have never seen an accident between a pedestrian and cyclist. I've seen plenty on the cycle lane heading up Peckham Rye.
  8. The budget for CGS is ring-fenced and can't be shifted into social care budgets.
  9. Sorry to hear that. What kind of lock was it?
  10. I tend to cut that corner heading south. Impossible to do anything other than that most times.
  11. Really? Bugger.
  12. 5-2. Wembley a mere two games away.
  13. Pretty much every-time I use that lane in the evening a pedestrian walks in front of me. So I crawl up it. It's too indistinct, too narrow and the surface is dreadful. Peckham Rye is a nightmare to cycle down generally.
  14. Thanks. That's very useful. So is this a tactical switch by the developer from a position of strength or weakness do you think? It suggests to me they would rather take their chances with the PI than Southwark.
  15. Thanks. That's good news. I'm an experienced and robust cyclist. But that surface is quite dangerous: lots of pot holes, undulations and tram tracks heading down the hill.
  16. Cllr Hamvas Any plans for the road on the east/Nunhead side of the Rye to be re-surfaced? The surface is in very bad shape and not good for cycling.
  17. That's very good news. The road surface on that stretch is dreadful.
  18. Southwark are taking too long to make a decision. This is meant to expedite presumably. I think we'd all like to see a decision.
  19. Players, coaches.
  20. 2-2, replay Tuesday. Mass brawl at the end.
  21. Yes, I suppose so. I hope the Police give this incident the priority it requires. And nail the bastards, pour encourager les autres.
  22. Solidarity to your partner mitchcoker. Pleased you got the bike back. Odd that they got rid of the bike
