  1. The road and horse track are usually empty, so it's fine to let your dog run around there off the lead. At the weekends however, especially when the sun's out, it fills up with with people cycling, promenading, picnicking etc. So if you're walking your dog, you need to exercise a bit more caution. My dog's good at avoiding bikes, but a menace with picnics.
  2. It is confusing. The signs are ambiguous. But I'm pretty sure the road and horse track are off lead. I've always thought the inner fields around the playground and bowling green are OK too. Plus the large road through the middle of the park. But i'm not entirely sure.
  3. Dogs are allowed off the lead on the road and horse track aren't they? Most areas inside the track (although not all) require your dog to go on the lead. When the sun brings lots of cyclists out though it is pretty crowded on the road and you need to exercise more control over your dog than you would normally
  4. As a man (biological and otherwise!) I find it terribly depressing that biological men are aggressively telling women what a woman is. And with that demeaning their whole world of experience and the oppression that comes with it. I'm sure being a trans woman has a whole world of oppression that comes with it too. But it's not the experience that women have. Plus the biology matters. It's the source opf the sh1t that women have had heaped upon them over hundreds of years.
  5. Yes, proper neo-Nazis this lot. Not to be tolerated.
  6. Main roads are pretty clear. Cycled in today no problem, sticking to the main roads (Horniman to Fleet Street). Saw about 15 cyclists on my entire journey. Probably because the cycle lanes are full of ice, snow and slush.
  7. Cycling down Forest Hill Road through Peckham down to Peckham Library was treacherous this morning. Compacted snow and ice. Worst I've experienced for a decade in London. No sign of gritting. And then the roads north of the library to OKR and through to Blackfriars were alright. Probably down to intensity of use by buses and other vehicles than any gritting. Cycle lanes up Blackfriars Road over the bridge and up Farringdon were full of snow and ice.
  8. I don't suppose the funds Southwark will (presumably) make off the event will be hypothecated for the benefit of the park will they?
  9. It may well be a sonic fox deterrent one of your neighbours has in the their garden.
  10. Someone was mugged on their bike and reported it on this Forum. Pretty where the photo is taken from what I recall. Those extant lights are repro by the way. Not sure better lighting is a waste of money necessarily.
  11. A few years I had cause to work with Southwark on replacing lights in a small park. The then extant lights were of similar design to the faux Victorian lights pictured here. They had though become unstable and the light they cast was poor and had, perhaps, contributed to some nasty criminal episodes in the park. So Southwark replaced them with modern lights. They were uglier. But the light they cast was much better and did make people feel more secure walking through the park at night.
  12. Probably in response to the muggings that have happened on that stretch. They cast better light one hopes.
  13. The cyclist was filtering to the left of static traffic.
  14. Dreadful. It's usually parked cars you look out for. This one appeared to be static in a queue at the lights. so the cyclist, who was filtering down the side of the traffic, was hit from the right.
  15. A cyclist was sent flying by a passenger door opening outside Harris Boys ED just after 8am this morning. Hats off the teachers and others outside the school who helped him. I hope you're OK if you happen to read this. If you need a witness, I was about 15metres behind you.
  16. So what happened then. Anyone know?
  17. I was in the queue when the Police let the store open. Carnage.
  18. Makes sense. I let a bit of pressure out too, so from 100psi to 90 on the back, 85 front. What you lose in speed you make up in grip.
  19. Are people using wet lube yet?
  20. I cycle commute and have done for fifteen years. the segregated paths have made a big difference. But I've seen quite a few spills on them: usually cyclists hitting pedestrians who the new layouts seem to have confused.
  21. ?A cash flow issue? doesn?t quite get to the heart of the problem.
  22. Yes, it?s a remembrance ceremony
  23. The Lane Ward group is campaigning to have the bridge re-opened. The Lane Ward covers a large part of the area where the traffic has been re-directed. So Lyndhurst Grove in particular.
