  1. Must say, they have done a thorough looking job of repairing the damage done to the park. I'm mildly antipathetic to the Gala Festival. But it has been better organised this year.
  2. Grass?
  3. This Tweet from the dead man's niece gives a fuller picture. Suggests the Police and Council encouraged some pubs to close.
  4. It's pretty busy at 7:30. Lots of Dog Walkers and runners. And then school kids and commuters from just before eight.
  5. Lots of dogs locally have been ill like this, my own among them. Puking a bit, and then off food and lethargic. It's not bad though. Give it four days, and the dog will be back to normal.
  6. There's a lot of conflation in the campaign with infilling on estates (which it seems to me is problematic unless residents are on board and compensated) and other developments. So I absolutely get why eg Brenchley residents were up in arms. But then the some of the same campaigners (eg XR Southwark) also seem to be campaigning against building anywhere else, including on what seems to me to be a brown field site near Burgess Park. There are other areas such as "Peckham Green" where the choice is between keeping a seldom used grassed over area which once contained lots of housing, and building around 100 council homes. There is potential there for a new small park, which people would no doubt use. But then in the middle of a severe housing crisis the goal of around 100 new council homes is perhaps more needed. Lots of bad faith on all sides. And the Leo Pollak incident undermined trust in Southwark horribly.
  7. Heard it second hand through the street WhatsApp. Seemed entirely legit. And I believe police informed. But know no more than that.
  8. Two more attacks on Wood Vale yesterday apparently. Sounds like the same person.
  9. FHGP is pretty poor. It strikes me they have way more people on their books than they offer a decent service to. The nurses are excellent in my experience though. But their admin is a disaster zone. Same with most GPs. This bit of the NHS needs dismantling top to bottom and reforming.
  10. Someone was found hanging in the woods. Still alive I understand but in a bad way.
  11. I'm early fifties, but on the flu jab list (mildly asthmatic). I'd read that wouldn't get you in group 6. But I've just been invited for a jab at the TJC via my GP. So am guessing they are using the list in Southwark.
  12. A ban on dogs off leads would be cruel and unnecessary.
  13. Dogs are not only allowed off the lead on the perimeter path. That's a misreading of the signs.
