Living in an urban area there is always going to be noise from other people going about their lives. We all just need to show consideration by not gardening / playing music / using building and diy tools too early or late. The odd night of music or people in a garden until 1am is not ideal but unless you can live somewhere in isolation where you can control the noise for miles around you its going to happen. As long as its considerate - and music at 6.45pm on a Saturday doesn?t sound inconsiderate - then live and let live. Covid has meant more people working at home and that?s likely to continue so if you can keep noise to a minimum during the day. There will always be some unavoidable noise and noise is more noticeable in the summer as we have windows open. There will be those who work shifts or have children who need to sleep but we can?t all know about that. My dad worked shifts and slept during the day - we always said he could sleep through anything but he had to. Children need to learn to sleep with some background noise growing up round here or they are going to struggle to sleep as they get older. Think do you need to make that noise at that time? How would you feel if that noise was going on at that time? If you have children yes they need to run around and let off steam but could you stop off at a park / playground on the way back from school and let them do it there rather than in the garden when you get home? Anyone got any tips on noise that can be annoying and when to keep it down. Its not always going to be possible but maybe there is something someone wouldn?t consider an issue but someone else might and it could be avoided / minimised.

A bit later than others but I've jut seen my first swifts over Green Dale Fields, East Dulwich.

It?s probably just closed as hand car washes are among the businesses not allowed to open under the current Covid rules

Caff? Nero on Lordship Lane accept them again and you get a bonus stamp on the loyalty card in the app

I think not. The order specifies the vehicles allowed https://www.southwark.gov.uk/assets/attach/22829/LSP-Dulwich-trial-Phase-2-notice-dated-15-Oct-2020-.pdf at 2(a). Can you leave the car at home or return outside the restricted hours? Have you registered for the consultation on the review. If you register until 10 May 2021 and you will be advised when the consultation is issued. Register at https://consultations.southwark.gov.uk/environment-leisure/dulwich-review-registration-form/ You will still be able to respond to the consultation if you don?t register but this will make sure you are aware its been issued and can point out the impact on residents.

For those about to have their second dose. I know of someone (40?s with underlying health conditions) who suffered side effects for a few days with the first dose of AZ. He?s just had his second dose and had a bad headache for 4 hours but no further side effects. Side effects with second dose much less as hoped. The side effects of the vaccine would be much less than how you?d feel with Covid from what I?ve heard from those who have had it. Even a bad reaction to the first dose was nothing compared to Covid.

Although this will not change anything about penalties already issued you can register for the consultation on the review until 10 May 2021 and you will be advised when the consultation is issued. If you are heading out for the first time this weekend be kind to those serving you. As said they also have families / have been affected by restrictions. We?ve all seen reports of queues / places taking more than they normally would. That means people who haven?t worked for a while are working hard and adjusting to new Covid measures. Hats off to them, I know moving less during lockdown means I?m not going to be up for walking round all day as I did before. If you are asked to queue / wear a mask / socially distance do it politely. You won?t be the only one the member of staff has to remind. If you are working today keep smiling. Something someone told me for interviews might help - have something that makes you smile. Put a picture as the Home Screen on your phone? Look at pictures / videos in your break. If you?ve no time for that smile behind your mask - apparently smiling releases chemicals that make us happy. Have a good day and stay safe.

If you know of anyone eligible but who has not yet had their vaccine or with concerns there will be a pop up vaccination centre at the Albrighton Community Centre, Albrighton Road this Monday (19th) from 12-4. The aim is to create a space for people to feel comfortable popping in and having a chat with doctors about any concerns or questions they might have regarding vaccines before deciding whether to have one. Anyone in one of the eligible groups who has not had the vaccine can go along.

Hope your first day goes ok and most people are ok.

Reopening is a step in the right direction but there is still some way to go. Support local businesses but bear in mind they have been closed for months and have rules to follow. If you?ve booked to sit outside a pub or restaurant wrap up well and don?t just not turn up. They will be counting on that custom. When you go to some of the things reopening today please be kind to staff - it could well be their first day back at work in a long time and things will be different for them too. If things take longer be patient - in order to open they have to follow guidelines and things may take longer but they are for everyone?s safety. The government mantra has changed to Hands / Face / Space / Fresh air. Lets all do our bit so the next stage of reopening can take place in May as planned. It?s inevitable cases will rise as more people meet but hopefully following the rules for a few more months will mean further opening up can go ahead.

Good to be aware of to help with a choice on benefits versus risks. No medicine, and the vaccine is no different, gives 100% cover to everyone. The advice is to continue to socially distance and other methods of reducing transmission even after getting vaccinated. Things we wouldn?t normally hear about are out there in relation to the Covid vaccine but at the end of the day you need to weigh up the risks for you. If you have medical conditions and are concerned then ask a doctor about your specific circumstances. If the guidance changes there is nothing to stop you carrying on with extra precautions. I?ve seen something that the risk of bloodclots is the same as a long haul flight. Another risk related to one vaccine is the same as taking a car journey. How many of us would question doing either of those? The risks of catching Covid, getting severely ill or long Covid and other problems that are coming to light are higher. Re the piece posted as the OP said ?(I stress preliminary)?, it has not been peer reviewed and it was done in America where medical standards are different to the UK. Even if it was a peer reviewed document it would be too technical for me.

If you didn?t get a flyer you can register for the LTN review here https://consultations.southwark.gov.uk/environment-leisure/dulwich-review-registration-form/ They say the want to hear from everyone in the areas. Registering will mean you?ll be notified when the consultation opens and of updates.

Good luck to them. @Pugwash. Good advice to speak to them. The Cherry Tree on Grove Vale has a garden but from memory of signs I have seen inside it closed at 10pm. Obviously this was before the pandemic when people could come inside. I think it was a condition of the licence. Might be worth raising your concerns with your local Councillor and asking the council what their advice to businesses / local residents is. There are going to be various businesses and communities around the Borough affected by reopening and associated impacts. We all need to adjust to the changes. I?d anticipate more noise - it?s unavoidable 200 people create more noise than 20. There will only be so much staff can do and as Nigello said people generally don?t want bad outcomes.

If anyone isn?t already using the Zoe app do have a look. Its easy to report your health and they use it to do medical research. The results of research on the data is shared on the app and their website. They list 20 symptoms of Covid and there is a Symptom Series where they are giving more detail on the symptoms that might be experienced. This is being added to over time. https://covid.joinzoe.com/post/the-20-symptoms-of-covid-19-to-watch-out-for If you are an app user and have one of the symptoms listed - not just the official 3 you can get a test from them. The data from the results informs further research. The data you input goes into their scientific studies and they update according to the data available. Before I went for my vaccine I checked out the webinar they did and they?d updated the information they previously published as they now had more data on the vaccines as more had been given.

We didn?t get the general invite but got a text from Tessa Jowell saying we would get a text from Improving Health Ltd that we could book online. This came through and the online booking offered Tessa Jowell or the Lister. My husband?s text was a little later than mine. Came through yesterday evening offering slots on Saturday and Sunday. I also know of someone who goes to another local surgery and was offered and booked Guys? but cancelled that and booked Tessa Jowell when a text came through from her surgery a couple of days later.

I was here but don?t really remember so great to have this Cafes and restaurants Tart is now a Georgian restaurant / food shop? Not sure of the details It doesn?t list Tandoori Nights. According to an article in the Dulwich Diverter celebrating 25 years in East Dulwich it opened 1993 and reopened after a fire in April 2019. Whether it will open again remains to be seen.

Increased graffiti during lockdowns?

Nigello great idea for businesses to contact the council. Now they?ve got a date to work towards for reopening they are going to want to do everything they can to encourage trade when they can open again. Hopefully schools being back and relaxation of the rules (if case numbers allow) will mean those putting the graffiti up have other things to do as the days get longer. -
Assault on East Dulwich Road Opposite Goose Green Playground
AylwardS replied to Jan42's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
This has been reported - JAN42 I hope you are ok. If something happens that seems too trivial to report to the police I?ve just seen you can report harassment as a crime online. The police definition of what?s a crime had some things I?ve not thought would count just as the OP didn?t realise this was assault at first. If you don?t need immediate help and 999 isn?t an option maybe report on https://www.police.uk/pu/contact-the-police/report-a-crime-incident/ so the police get. a picture of what?s happening in the area. A one-off incident to you might be more of a bigger picture you can?t know about. Let something good come out of the focus on harassment of women that recent events have brought up. -
There is another thread that?s just been started about a man exposing himself to young girls in the park. Unfortunately there are people who threaten and attack others but they are a minority. Its just that their actions upset others. If you know of anyone who might go to the park and be approached by this man a couple of things I was once told at a self defence class years ago which have stuck with me might be worth them thinking about - if they can. Shout out ?Help officer? - the article about the man exposing himself to girls says police patrols have been increased so there could well be one around. If nothing else the distraction could give them time to get away / to somewhere with more people. Ask someone for help but identify them - lady in the blue coat. People find it harder to ignore if you are clearly speaking to them and they are unlikely to know the name of the person they can see in the park.
