  1. Jules-and-Boo Great idea. I'll probably e walking past later this afternoon and will do. Such a simple suggestion but the local area / wildlife will benefit. It sometimes seems we can make no impact but this shows how even a small act can have an impact.
  2. Having read the reasons for the decision this makes sense. The proposal was for one two hour zone but there was a suggestion that the zone was split in two and the East Dulwich one operated all day due issues that will arise from parking related to the school / health centre. The full day zone was also suggested, according to the reasons for decision, as the option to go with the shorter time was possible without going back to committee. I can see the health centre will cause parking need all day so a two hour zone isn?t going to have the same impact it did in zone Q where commuter parking was the main issue, but will work for the West Peckham Zone which has the same issues. Its not a fix all but it will address the problem raised. You can see the committee papers here http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/ieDecisionDetails.aspx?Id=6916 If you want to respond then you can do that online or by email. The reference is ?TMO1920-025 E Dulwich parking zone?. Responses are to be submitted by 17 October 2019. The TMO is at https://www.southwark.gov.uk/assets/attach/10536/E-Dulwich-area-parking-zone-ED-notice-dated-19-Sept-2019-.pdf The response form can be found at https://forms.southwark.gov.uk/ShowForm.asp?fm_fid=1081 or emails can be sent to [email protected]
  3. Following the posts on here about the planning application moving and only showing comments until 13 August I rechecked and comments from 4 - 24 August are on the old portal and comments from 25 August on the new so it would appear all the comments have been lodged. I have however sent an email to [email protected] and copied in the Councillors for the area (Peter John, Leader of the Council [email protected] and Sarah King [email protected]) about a discrepancy regarding the number of comments in the two portals and asking for confirmation all comments will be taken into account. In case it is of interest this is what I found on the portals when I went in The two portals show differing numbers of comments on the application and although I understand this will change the numbers don?t make sense. I looked at the old planning portal this morning and it showed 400 Comments (Objections 120, Supporting 277) I then looked at the new planning portal which showed 290 Comments (Objections: 36 Supporting: 251) The portal was only showing 5 comments, the earliest from 23 August. Two questions I asked of the Council were: 1. Can the Council confirm that the deadline for comments will be extended given the issues with the planning portal? 2. Can the Council confirm that all comments submitted on either the old or new planning portal and by email to [email protected] will be reviewed before the decision is taken on the application?
  4. Inthettexas moment thanks. I?ll resend my comments to the email address - I submitted mine on 14 August as the letter we had said the deadline was 15 August
  5. Thank you for the link to the page about the flood alleviation works. That is the information I was hoping for.
  6. It looks like the issue was they were introducing a new planning portal. The application is available online again on the ?OLD? planning portal at https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications-old/applicationDetails.do?keyVal=_STHWR_DCAPR_9583549&activeTab=summary Tomorrow was the deadline given in the letter we received, though the expiry date online is 27 August and as the post above says email comments will be accepted until the start of September.
  7. Thank you jay66 I?ve had a quick look at the information the Friends of Dog Kennel Hill Wood have put together and I?m sure I?ll use some of it in my response. http://www.friendsofdkhwood.org/greendale/respond-to-planning-application-19-ap-1867/. The documents on the official planning site are daunting - over 200, the Friends versions are more user friendly. If you want to respond to the planning application 19/AP/1867 details should be on on the Council?s website https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=_STHWR_DCAPR_9583549 but the planning register is currently down for ?service improvement works?. Deadline for responses is 15 August. The Friends of Dog Kennel Hill website looks worth a look for documents related to Green Dale / wildlife in the meantime. I?m still working through the documents on the website but in case this saves anyone time, given the deadline is Thursday and the website is down so accessing the documents is a challenge if they are not on the Friends of Dog Kennel Hill Wood website, here?s what I?ve found of relevance to various areas and worth reading if it what?s covered is of interest to you - Design and Access Statement Part 1 gives an overview (Part 2 is just plans of the flats) - Statement of Community Involvement shows they?ve engaged with at least some areas of the community and the development will provide improved sports facilities and an Outdoor Gym - Car Park Design and Strategy Part 1 gives details (Parts 2 & 3 are plans of predicted vehicle flows - swept vehicle paths - if it particularly interests you) - Stadium Management Plan includes how they see spectator management and parking impact on match days - Special Needs Case is actually Sporting Needs Case and provides detail on the facilities that will be available to the community / public. Improvements will be made to the indoor leisure facilities 3.8 admits the MUGA is smaller than the current Astroturf but says it will be safer and therefore expected o be used more - Landscape Design Statement parts 1 & 2 have information on how it will look / impact of development on MOL / planned mitigation - bird & bat boxes etc - Transport Statement 1 will be of interest to those accessing the housing estate via Abbotswood Road or who will use the linear park to get to GreenDale / Bessemer Grange School - Transport Statement 6 relates to public transport and PTAL - Transport Statement 11 relates to Healthy Streets and walking / cycling I?ve only looked at things of interest to me and your interests may be different.
  8. Flood alleviation and environmental improvement works in Peckham Rye Common I have seen a notice regarding proposed flood alleviation and environmental improvement works in Peckham Rye Common stating representations are to be made to the Planning Inspectorate by 16 September. I have been unable to find reference to this on the Southwark website and am unlikely to be able to attend one of the libraries the notice states further documents can be inspected during office hours. Can these be made available on the Council website? There is a page about flood risk for the common but it has not been updated since 2017.
  9. Just had a stroll round Peckham Rye Park and saw 5 painted lady butterflies. I'd been getting jealous of friends facebook posts from elsewhere in the country who'd already seen some of the migration
  10. There is a notice on the fence next to the gate as you go into Green Dale Fields. Planning application 19/AP/1867. Details, and responses via the website [planning.southwark.gov.uk] This confirms the deadline for responses is 15 August.
  11. We had a letter through to say the planning application (19/AP/1867) has been made. Details, and responses via the website https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=_STHWR_DCAPR_9583549 The letter says the deadline for responses is 15 August which is earlier than the Standard Consultation Expiry Date on the website (not sure what the difference is)
  12. The parking restrictions have gone in for one area (Zone Q). Parking in the other areas always looks heavy. If you can take one of the buses that stops outside East Dulwich station that may be less stressful for you and considerate for those living near the station. All roads around the station will probably be restricted by the end of the year
  13. The approach suggested by sweet girl may sound good but not only might they tow your car and take it to a pound in N8 looking at the Council website there will be extra fees to pay of ?200 plus ?40 a day and I think you have to pay to get the car back and then challenge for a refund. frustrating as it is to have to query every ticket have a reply ready so all you need to do is copy and paste and change the date the ticket was given for each ticket. Send a separate letter, quoting your vehicle registration and permit number asking them to cancel, and confirm, any tickets issued to your vehicle and the expiry date of the virtual permit.
  14. A reminder you have until 22nd JULY 2019 to provide your feedback, positive or negative. You can read more about these plans online or via a display in the Museum - [horniman.ac.uk] This is informal consultation and there will be formal planning consultation but its worth making your views known. The visitor numbers are more than they anticipated so there will be changes and in the main they look ok from my point of view but we all use the museum and gardens. differently. Good point from Angelina about children being managed visiting at certain times or maybe certain areas could be kept child free. The gardens are big enough and people could then chose where / when to visit.
  15. BrandNewGuy thanks for the link. Looks like they are more serious this time - three times as many documents but it took 4 consultations before the CPZ went in. The documents will take some time to digest but the recent exhibition was better than the original application (apparently back in 2010), if not ideal. In anticipation of this I?d been looking at some Council policies, the New Southwark plan has been submitted and is pretty good as these things go around protection for wildlife. There are a lot of documents on the application so in case it saves anyone some reading here is what I found that I thought may be relevant when the planning app came out. The Southwark Open Space Strategy https://www.southwark.gov.uk/assets/attach/1897/3.1.1-southwark_open_space_strategy_jan_2013_low_res_.pdf Dulwich Hamlet is designated Other Open Space OS130 Dog Kennel Hill , OS119 is a Site of Importance for Nature (SINC) and Metropolitan Open Land (MOL) Greendale Playing Fields, OS128 is also a SINC and Metropolitan Open Land Greendale AstroTurf, OS129 is MOL Table 8 in Annex 5 relates to Cleaner, Greener, Safer (I think its in Annex 5 anyway, I made the note some time ago and its not as clear now) 56 Open Space - MOL P58 Green Infrastructure P59 Biodiversity P60 Trees I also see one of the documents is a Travel Plan and the impact on local transport was something I?d noted to look at. I?d noted sections in the New Southwark Plan and Draft London Plan that might be useful New Southwark Plan - amended policy P9 Optimising Delivery of New Homes - account of additional infrastructure needs - public transport, schools, NHS? Draft New LONDON Plan, D6 when determining density of development connectivity - walking an public transport and capacity of infrastructure to be considered This may be a bit early but may help when the time comes to comment. I?m also going to contact the Parks department and express support for Green Dale Fields now the access is better and in my comments on the application refer to using this more and how its developing. Will the development impact this? The Council saw the value and spent money to redevelop Green Dale Fields. How is the development compatible with their plans could be questions to ask
  16. Has the planning application come out? Can you post the link? If the planning application is not out they are trying again but nothing can happen until the planning application goes through and the previous ones haven?t. The exhibition they held made it look better than last time but lacked detail
  17. @ dbboy Thanks for posting. I?ll check out the details. As Worldwiser says they need to adapt to current times and it must be harder and harder to attract and keep people , especially children and although I avoid places when they?ll be busy with children if I can they do need to learn so there is a balance to be achieved, but at least there is the opportunity to review the plans and comment.
  18. Working outside of London and having lived in East Dulwich for over 20 years during which time I?ve worked in and outside London I can see pluses and minuses to the local transport provision. How busy the buses are shows how much they are used. If I?m at the office beyond 7.30 there is one bus an hour to take me to the railway station. Walking is not an option as there is one part of the route with no pavement and the road goest to the M3 so even walking on the grass verge isn?t particularly pleasant and walking in the road would be a death wish. I can see why there is only one bus an hour, apart from the peak morning commute (0845) when the previous bus had been cancelled I haven?t seen people standing on the bus and there were seats for those who chose to stand if they wanted them. The buses are a service there, here they are a service but used. My commute is better since the Overground came to Denmark Hill, prior to that I had to take the 37 to get to Clapham Junction. If you want to travel from East Dulwich station to Denmark Hill or Forest Hill the bus service is fine. If you want to travel into central London the direct bus journeys are bad enough without the need to change. It took me 45 minutes to get from Waterloo to East Dulwich on Monday evening. Just as I didn?t this time I?ll fill in any future consultation affecting the local area. The outcome might not be in line with my responses but they?ll be logged and who knows I might be the one person who tips the decision one way or the other, no reply no chance of that. We are lucky to have the option to vote / respond to consultations and we should make the most of that even if the outcome is not always what we would choose. Naive maybe but the only other option is to not reply and have no say so I don?t see a choice.
  19. Abe_froeman if I?ve understood correctly the CPZ data publicly available is in the report, Cllr McNash has other data but has not shared it. Its unclear what the final data will be, from experience dealing with Councils I?d say that will depend on the person putting it together. In his post on 1 May (page 13) Cllr McNash said ??I can see why the post from ed_moots (23 April, page 12) made you think that I have shared the dataset with others but I can assure you that all I shared there were the handful of percentages included in their post above. As far as I know, the only people with access to the full dataset are the councillors and council officers.? Looks like there is at least another month before any more will be known. The decision, to go to formal consultation, has been published in the forward plan for July. http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/mgIssueHistoryHome.aspx?IId=50020432&Opt=0 Until the associated papers are published there?ll be no more information available.
  20. I had a quick look at the Council website this morning. There may be more useful information the links as well as what Abe Freeman posted. Southwark carried out a consultation about dog Anti Social Behaviour (ASB) and it looks like they are stepping up enforcement - signs have gone up in a couple of parks / green spaces near us limiting walking of a maximum of 6 dogs with 3 off the lead at any one time. We all know there are good and bad dog owners and the rules have to apply to all. A number of the links on the website page about Responsible Dog Ownership don?t work but might be worth a look https://www.southwark.gov.uk/environment/animal-welfare/responsible-dog-ownership - some common sense / good owner behaviour but unfortunately not all owners are good. The bylaws relating to dogs have been around a while - looks like they were last confirmed in 1975! https://www.southwark.gov.uk/assets/attach/2229/composite_dog_ban_byelaws.pdf As has been said Dawsons Hill is a nature reserve and the rules are what they are. Wildlife doesn?t know one bit of green is a nature reserve and another isn?t so at this time of year it would be good if dog walkers could be aware that disturbance, even unintentional can be an issue for wildlife - not something we thought about when we had dogs while I was growing up to be honest but we live and learn. If you are taking your dog out please keep them on a lead - they may be well behaved and not mean it but could unintentionally scare nesting birds (now until July) and cause them to abandon their nest / chicks. If you are walking in the country the dog may encounter animals its not used to and react out of character. Its just not worth the risk of it getting hurt or worst case shot - not an issue here but traffic is the equivalent here I guess.
  21. Visited the Nature Trail at the Horniman a couple of days back for the first time (I know its been there a while but new to me). Short and nothing amazing this visit but good for a quick half hour in ?woodland?. Entrance to the start is from London Road - up the steps just after Wood Vale and then through the gate on the left. Check the opening hours on the Horniman website (currently 9-4). You go to the end and return. It?s a ?woodland? path so tree roots, steps and could be muddy in wet weather and no dogs. You never escape the sirens but if you are passing its worth checking out.
  22. The handheld scanners had been installed when I went yesterday. Here is the link to the Sainsburys website page on SmartShop https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/shop/gb/groceries/get-ideas/our-freebies-and-competitions/our-freebies-and-competitions/smartshop-app There is also a FAQ page (and FAQs in the app) https://help.sainsburys.co.uk/help/products/smartshop-faq A few comments / questions on this thread are covered: - The app works on iPhone and Android - You will need your Nectar card to pay Downloading the iPhone app was easy - have your nectar card to hand. There are more FAQs in the app than on the website. - You pay at a card only SmartShop checkout, SmartShop enabled self checkout (cash or card was an option last time I used one?) or via Apple Pay - if supported in store, no need to use a checkout This sounds good, but will take some getting used to as self scan did. There are bound to be some teething troubles both technical and user in the first few weeks but if it can improve the queues like yesterday afternoon it will be good. There are more checkouts now than there were when Sainsbury?s opened. Even with every checkout open, and they have been when I?ve been in at busy times, there are queues. If those who want to use SmartShop free up the traditional tills for those who want that option that?s a good thing in my opinion. Time will tell.
  23. There are a few places the posted speed limit seems odd but that applies to all laws / regulations - you can never have ?one rule fits all? I frequently get hooted for driving at 20 mph, and overtaken, but how often can you drive over 20 with London traffic? We learn more and things change. I remember my dad saying that when he was younger he would go out with his friends and the designated driver would drink. This was before drink driving laws and knowing the impact on your reaction times he wouldn?t do it now but then they didn?t know. In 20 years time will it be as unacceptable to speed in a 20 limit zone or use your mobile phone while driving so most people won?t even think about it? I?ve been overtaken while sticking to the posted 20 limit only to join the queue of traffic further down the road behind the car that overtook me. What?s the point?
  24. Hopefully the below will throw some clarity on the community council / forum. The Community Forum is on the Council website and the parking zones for West Peckham and East Dulwich Healthier streets are on the agenda for the Dulwich Community Council (rather than the Peckham one) Guess they could only have officers attend one if needed and the agenda item is for West Peckham and Dulwich Healthier Streets. The website has the community council / forum details in a couple of places as peterwlindsay said, so the OP may have missed these. There are also community councils for Peckham and Dulwich and the Council has put this under the Dulwich one - the area does cover both I believe. http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=176&MId=6065&Ver=4 Note that anything to be considered at Council meetings, I don?t know about Southwark and things may well have changed as its a few years since I had to input to any Council Meetings, usually needs to be provided in advance so the attendees have time to read and digest it so its unlikely anything sent as feedback now will be discussed at the meeting on 27 April unless someone attends and brings it up. Questions asked at the Community Council may be answered at the meeting or in writing afterwards. The Community Council can submit one question to the Council Assembly in July 2019. Probably needs someone to push it as it only looks like they can ask one question and there are probably a number of issues residents want raised. ?Any question to be submitted from a community council to council assembly should first be the subject of discussion at a community council meeting. The subject matter and question should be clearly noted by the community council and thereafter the agreed question can be referred to the constitutional team. ? The community council is invited to consider if it wishes to submit a question to the ordinary meeting of council assembly in July 2019? The members of the Dulwich committee can be found on this page http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/mgCommitteeMailingList.aspx?ID=176 The Chair of the Committee is Councillor Andy Simmons Email [email protected]. I recognise a few of the names of other councillors who I guess are local councillors so probably worth copying any email to you r local councillor(s) too. The suggestion to contact Councillor Livingstone is probably because he will make the ultimate decision as parking comes under him and he?ll be looking at the bigger picture borough wide. The councillors on the community council should be looking at the impact locally.
  25. 1921 As has been said a no return rule will stop people paying to park from parking and then setting a reminder as it stops a vehicle parking all day. The same no return rule can be applied to either shared use or paid for bays. The order for zone Q (Dog Kennel Hill) has the following and I?d expect a similar provision in the East Dulwich CPZ order if it?s part day. ?to provide 'shared-use' parking places, in which either:- (i) vehicles which have paid the parking charge of ?2.75 per hour (using 'Pay by Phone') may be left for up to two hours (provided no vehicle may return to a parking place on that same day), or (ii) vehicles issued with a valid residents' permit, valid business permit or valid visitors' permit may be left without time limit, between the hours of 11 am and 1 pm on Mondays to Fridays inclusive, in:? As you can see no vehicle that has paid can not stay more than the two hour limit, I believe someone could park in the morning, call and pay but when the paid for time was up they can?t park any longer in the same place so could not park all day. We don?t live in one of the roads with bays but there certainly was nothing said on here after the zone was introduced to indicate problems with people parking all day. Residents or their visitors with a permit can stay as long as they need. I think that should stop what you ask about.
