Hello! We are thinking about moving back to the area and would need a secondary place for our child in year 8. The issue we have is you can’t get on the waiting list until you have an address but we don’t have a clue what the waiting list numbers look like and wouldn’t want to move without having an idea of when she might get in. Does anyone know roughly what movement is like on the list for year 8? Thank you.

Hi there, I'm expecting my second mid Feb and would love to meet up.x -
I took my daughter to Blue Tit on Rye Lane for her first haircut and they were fantastic - so patient. I would highly recommend. www.bluetitlondon.com

I am getting really annoyed with some of the nurseries that my daughter is on the waiting list for (some of which at the cost of ?40) who told me at the time the list was 1-2 years long and has now somehow become 3 years??!! This is not on!

Stay at home/part time working mum meet up
laney1 replied to laney1's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi all, Really looking forward to our meet up tomorrow. Have just thought, if it's another scorcher tomorrow might be more sensible to meet under the big tree for some much needed shade? For those that can't make it, I will update this thread if we arrange another one. xx -
Haha - RenF - you and I must be psychic food sisters!

Houmous and oatcakes/crudites, nuts and dried fruit, air popped popcorn, vegetable crisps, fruit salad.x

Stay at home/part time working mum meet up
laney1 replied to laney1's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Great - Have had some pm's from people as well so we should try to arrange a meet up. How about 3pm next Tuesday on the grass in front of the cafe in Peckham Rye park? Hopefully the sun will still be shining! -
Hi forumites, I have a 14 month old daughter and have decided to stay at home with her for a while longer. All my mum friends have gone back to work and I thought it would be fun to arrange a meet up for parents who are around during the day in the area. If this is of interest to any else please reply below. x

You should be OK at 9.15 as the scrum has died down a bit by then - if not, sharpen those elbows!x

I have just visited the Treehouse in Brixton and cannot get over what a great idea it is: http://www.treehouseworkandplay.com/ The creche is better kitted out than most nurseries I've been to with a climbing wall, ball pit, trampoline etc. It is all new and lovely and the staff are so nice. I didn't think that I would find a solution to be able to do some work without being too far away from my daughter but this is just perfect. I'm writing this so more people can go and check it out as they are so new and need support.

Hi there - try www.edtots.co.uk a brilliant website that lists all free and paid for groups in the area.x

Great, thanks! Fingers crossed that works....

I wonder if any of you wise forumites can help me out? My 7 month old has gone from sleeping through the night til 7 to now deciding that 4.30 is wake up and play time. I have tried all the obvious methods - earlier to bed, later to bed, dark room, less naps in the day, feeding her and nothing works. She is genuinely wide awake and ready to start the day. Does anyone have any advice as I can't believe I now call 6am a lie in?!

The Gardens cafe - NOT baby friendly
laney1 replied to nubby'smums's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Otta - I am certainly not using the word 'discriminate' to imply we are suffering from some great miscarriage of justice when people don't want buggies around but it IS a form of discrimination to refuse to serve people with small children. Buggies are a neccessity to transport said small children around. I can only speak for myself but I would much rather not have to have one and have my baby magically walk from birth but that isn't happening. Therefore people could be a bit nicer about them as we are not all crazed power mothers with a sense of entitlement. -
The Gardens cafe - NOT baby friendly
laney1 replied to nubby'smums's topic in The Family Room Discussion
The Gardens has so little going for it anyway - totally overpriced, ridiculously long waits for food and drink and a hostile manager (I was actually about to go in with my friend and our buggies and saw the above incident occur). People should vote with their wallets, there are plenty of lovely child friendly cafe's around that do not discriminate. It's not as if the Gardens is in the heart of the city with hundreds of office workers clamouring for tables - we ARE their bread and butter! -
Just discovered Culturebaby which does fab sounding tours of museums and galleries: http://culturebaby.co.uk/

Hi! For anyone who has responded or is interested - we are having a meet up at the Victoria Inn on Bellenden Road at 2pm on Monday 15th. All welcome.x

The owner threw me out after I politely dared to suggest that there was something wrong with the coffee - after her tasting it and agreeing! Worst. Place. Ever. Oh and stupidly expensive too!

Hey there, I have a little 4 month old daughter and due to a busy summer have been pretty lax at mingling with local mummies and daddies. Without causing offence to anyone, am looking to meet some parents who are interested in hanging out and discussing movies, books, fashion, theatre and mindless celebrity gossip not nappies, drool and school waiting lists (although that has a very important place in the world of chat too!). If anyone is interested let me know and hopefully we can get a few like minded peeps together. x
