I'm loving it, I would part with some money for one of those tees a ladies t-shirt mind you I don't need another bed t-shirt. I love how you've kept the 'TM' on it, nice. Do it, do it, do it...;-)

Wine Tasting, 2nd round. A bottle of Chinon from Green and Blue.
peckham_perkster replied to Ant's topic in The Lounge
Righty-ho I shall make the pilgrimage to G&B's on Saturday. Are we all going for a Sunday evening slurp again? -
Hmm I only ever got take out from there once, it was dire so I never went back. I'm very fussy about my chips and have found the best fish n chips at Camberwell. The Flying Fish is on Camberwell Church Street and it's fantastic, they buy their fish fresh from Billington market and cook it to order. The guys that run are really lovely and they have a restaurant out the back where you can BYOB. The one on Uplands Road is good as well.

The war memorial at Dulwich Common

(tu):))(tu) Thanks for the vote of confidence Louisa! I shall add more on the thread once I've heard more from the YOT. However I know some of you on here were trying to actually find out about the monument which I would still be interested to know about so hopefully someone will post some more information. I may go up there tonight after the initial WI meeting (eek) and take some photos to send to them. -
Of course I'm in!:))

The war memorial at Dulwich Common

Louisa I don't want to take this over from you as you have clearly done all the work and got us all talking about it. I will totally understand if you don't want the youth offending team to get involved, I just thought it was a really good opportunity for them. Let me know if you don't want me to pursue this further. :-$ Below is what I've done so far but it can all easily have the brakes put on it. I've had a chat with the guy who coordinates the 'Reparation Scheme' which is something I volunteer on with youth offendors. He is really interested in getting their 'clients' as they call the youth offendors, involved in something like this. He is going to go and have a look at the monument and see what needs doing so they can suss out what tools will be needed and any costs involved. As you can imagine they don't have much money but I told them about the Southwark official you mentioned and suggested they should cough up if needs be, it's in their interests to! On the back of this I've also suggested looking into any others in the borough that the clients could work on in case there are more that need some work doing to them in case you don't want them to work on this one. We already do some work with the clients for the British Legion by making poppies, as well as the clients paying back to the community they also learn about the Legion and what it does so this links in nicely. I won't bore you with the details of how the scheme works and the volunteering I do as that would be getting off subject. What I will say is that the scheme works to ensure that youth offendors work on projects that directly benefit the community working alongside volunteers. -
Exackers Bob, entirely what I was trying to get across and apologies for forgetting their re-branding to just 'five'.

Say Hello in East Dulwich

Coolio Ko. I make a point of saying hello and 'thanks' to refuse collectors and street cleaners as I think their job is rotten enough, the fact their clearing up our streets should be appreciated. The cleaners always seem to appreciate the response as well. -

I have an idea Louisa as I volunteer with the Southwark Youth Offending Team, they may be able to help out and get this done, I'll keep you informed but this could be a really good project for them. -
I think some of the furore around this may stem from the change in their mission statement. Has anyone else noticed in the last few years how Channel 5 now looks far more intelligent than Channel 4 which is the equivalent of processed cheese? Their mission statement from 2004 is "Do It First; Make Trouble and Inspire Change". Apart from the fact that there is this footage of the crash has anyone seen what the programme is actually about? It's called 'Witnesses in the Tunnel' and is about those photographers who took photos when the crash happened and what happened to them during and after the crash and her eventual death. My question is simple, they've waited 10 years but did they pay to use the images and footage? If so doesn't the whole programme become completely hypocritical? Let's interview the pap that were there use their footage and talk about what happened to them, urm so it's OK to still make money out of Diana by proxy. "Do it first" - they've waited 10 years "make trouble" - they've ticked that box "Inspire change" - not sure where they're going on this one unless they make references to her sons and how the press have dealt with their lives so far which I don't think this programme is going to do.

Just heard on the radio that people are having epileptic seizures when watching the promotional video or the moving logo. Didn't quite believe it till they had phone calls from people this had happened to and it apparently has also failed a test that to ascertain if it will trigger epileptic attacks. Has anyone seen the alternative logos that are on the BBC site? Alternative London 2012 logos Not that much quality but interesting to see what people think are important elements when putting the logo together. I personally don't think there should be any references to London landmarks, if anything it should feature the new Olympic park being built, if that's possible.

OMG! Has the government suddenly heard about our genius scheme and decided that we're a danger to ourselves?! I'm no conspiracy theory lover but this did make me giggle... Binge Drinking Strategy We're their exact target audience! Maybe we should make sure our slogan is more prominent 'one bottle at a time'. (tu)

I like the idea of a light red as I've never bought one before unless by accident but have always been pleasantly surprised. Aren't light reds supposed to go well with curry? So Ant what will be your choice?

OK have had a glass or 2 and it's very nice. Rich was a word that sprung to mind and I agree that it was better after being warmed up a bit. I did get the melon and peach smell but I also thought it tasted of melons a bit as well. I liked that it filled my mouth and lingered, I believe that's a sign of a good wine? I also got the Granny Smith thing and it was very fruity. Good choice and a nice way to start my week knowing there is another glass or so left for me tomorrow. I'm looking forward to next week's wine already. One thing I really didn't like, PLASTIC CORK! I prefer a screw top to a plastic cork.(6)

Ooh like it AP good food for thought hadn't actually registered that no sport was referred to but I think that was simply cos I've glanced at the new site and not really taken it all in. I asked my other half in Brum what he thought of it as he does animation and video so would have been able to come up and produce the video they did, here's what he said. "Not bad on a technical front - most parts are nicely tracked and masked. They have definitely employed some of the techniques The Dommo and myself have used, to make sure that the composited stuff 'sits in scene'; 3D tracking, 3D Camera space data conversion - that sort of thing. I like the sparse pointy music best of all! I'm not toooo won over by the visual style, after watching that - I feel like if I pop down to the shops, I will see people wearing sunglasses in the shape of zig-zags, and folk donning puffball skirts." Yep, I don't understand the first part very much either but technically it does the job but again the style is something everyone is picking up on. I've just been listening to BBC London and they are discussing this, someone has already said it looks like Lisa Simpson, they just didn't mention the sex act. Maybe it's a grower I'm up for giving it the benefit of the doubt but would like to see how they use it. I think making it look like graffitti from the eighties is a bit of a mistake, new money for old rope etc etc.

Cripes I had a quick butchers at work but have no sound on my puter so will have to watch it properly tonight. Urm, I don't even know what 'new media networks' means, I'm presuming that's referring to watching the OG on your mobile phone? Is it me or does it just remind you of titles from kids Saturday morning shows? 'Live and Kicking' came to mind straight away, I was even singing the theme tune in my head as I watched it... Saturday Morning TV Maybe it will see the come back of Trevor and Simon, sorely missed. I kind of like the new logo but wonder if it will already be dated by 2012 as the theme they've picked is very 'now'.

*crumples up sheets from the many old newspapers lying around and starts to use them along with soapy water to clean the windows* *yelps once the windows are clear seeing the amount of debris in the place including dead owls, feathers, peanuts and a smashed Pimms jug* *can't face doing anymore after the long walk yesterday* *swigs a pink grapefruit and orange crushes ice thingie as well, yum* *dashes out the door before she gets roped into anymore cleaning*

The war memorial at Dulwich Common
peckham_perkster replied to Louisa's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I am in total agreement and would gladly sign up for this and if anything else needs doing then would be happy to help. I too had relatives in both wars and always feel a pang of guilt and shame when I see war memorials looking forgotten and delapidated. It's all far too easy for us to forget now that these wars were so long ago. I think people sometimes also forget the work the Legion does now which is just as important, especially in light of the recent conflict. -
Gosh I feel like I've been out of the loop for a bit! Anyhoo, I'm afraid to say I didn't get a chance to open my bottle last night due to an impromptu but very lovely walk from Putney to Kew along the river, as you do! By the time we got back we were good for nothing. Tonight I am going to open it up and have some with my dinner and will definitely report back straight after. I've read everyone else's comments so will take these on board when drinking it. Oh, I bought my bottle from Will at Threshers but when I mentioned it was for the EDF wine tasting he said that the discount he gave was a 'one off' so well done DM it sounds like you were lucky! I've no probs with this obviously but it made me wonder if he'd misunderstood how we were doing our tasting by it being virtual rather than all together, though I can't believe he would have thought one bottle would be enough between us. Just thought I'd mention it but no biggie.

7.15 sounds good to me, we shall settle ourselves in the back garden if the weather is good. We don't have to actually be online when drinking do we? Urm, electronics and vino dont mix and I can't be trusted... I'm off to get my bottle of plonk in about an hour and have no shame in asking for a discount B)

EDF Drinks - Friday 1st June at The Gowlett
peckham_perkster replied to georgia's topic in The Lounge
I apologise SM but I'd rather be bad than good, it's easier to live up to those expectations. I'm sure you can handle having a drink on my behalf though. ;-) -
I'm getting through the entire series of the No.1 Ladies Detective Agency and am currently in the middle of 'In the Company of Cheerful Ladies'. The books only take a day or so to get through but are really good commuting reading. I got all of the books dirt cheap on good ole amazon with the marketplace traders.

I'd just worked up the courage and have been given a last minute offer for free tickets for summat down on the south bank. Sorry BB, but I will make sure the next dwinkies is put in my diary once announced. Have a pint of some lovely ale for me please someone. :) -
We already have a motto, brilliant JL. A lot more snappy than those 'drink safe' messages you see everywhere these days. I have the same thing DM if we open the bottles they will great drunk, and us along with it.
