Getting rid of cat 'because daughter wants a dog for Xmas'
-Heinz- replied to The Minkey's topic in The Lounge
Genius. A cat is passed on. Big deal. Ooh no sorry..."people are just so horrible...like" -
Let's look after this guy. He makes the world a better place...sun always shines on North X road.

Meat the future - is it the future?
-Heinz- replied to Tom Micklewright's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Horse meat steak tartare, the tastiest palliation for anemia. -
Saffron, really interesting, it goes some way to answering the imperfections of human disposal as it stands. Are prions not just confined to brain and spinal cords? I understand this subject is a bit morbid and taboo but getting over the taboo for the purpose of discussion brings up interesting stuff like your post (amongst others).

Peckham Rye Zippos Circus & Protest
-Heinz- replied to Tom Micklewright's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Tom Micklewright Wrote > the implication that > animals can be manipulated for our amusement > despite the animal gaining no benefit from the > practice. The benefits an animal gets from being tamed, especially when that animal is prey in the natural order of the food chain is : to not be constantly in fear of being eaten alive by predators, to be fed, watered and looked after for the simple reason that it is a valuable commodity to the tamer....And yes I have eaten horse and were it available in this country would gladly have it again since it is very lean, iron rich and rather good. -
former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
-Heinz- replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Table tennis : yes please, lets have some Olympic legacy on Peckham Rye! There are a few good sheltered spots where it would be great to have them. Not everyone loves football or running. Where there are tables they seem like great fun and are well used. -
Peckham Rye Zippos Circus & Protest
-Heinz- replied to Tom Micklewright's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
In the food chain, horses and goats are prey to animals with eyes on the front of their heads...so I suppose living without the fear of being eaten would be a good enough reason for them to feel as close to happiness as it exists in their minds. On top of that, not being overworked and fed appropriatly, one would be forgiven for thinking that these creatures, if they could voice an opinion, would tell those animal-rights protesters where to go. -
E.P, Maybe you could start a thread asking how belief in God structures behaviour... be prepared to unleash a river or prejudice, some baring commendable traits of behaviour...some maybe not so much. Certainly quite entertaining/interesting. Good luck.

Huguenot Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think it's difficult to have a serious > conversation about God if you're defining it > however you want to define it. Men have been defining God or Gods in whatever way they wished ever since metaphysics, and one could also argue that among believers of the same faith each and every member of that faith has a slightly or very different understanding of this indeed rather large concept. I was only trying to reply to the question posted as : "Is there a God" understood as, the belief in the existence of God...Not it motives. > > Gods have always been moral arbiters and the > personification of supernatural or poorly > understood events. More accurately Gods have been used by man to justify their moral precepts. > > You can't suddenly announce that your definition > doesn't include morality or human characteristics > and expect people to understand you. > Sorry if you don't...

I think the wonder is a very valid reason to suppose the existence of an all pervasive clever order.

It's a good contract type card game that needs concentration, yet can happily be played while having a chat and eating pistachios. Plays 3-4 or 5. Am I jogging any memories and howzabout having a go again ? I feel my chances are slim but hey...

A bigger M&S shop, flats above; a bigger Grove Vale Library, flats above; fewer parking spaces...Will we get the same situation as in Paris were quite a bit of the traffic congestion (and consequently pollution) consists off cars being driven around until lucky enough to find a place to park....already it is starting to happen around here. How green and practical...with the cunning result of demonising cars even more...genius. In the meanwhile thanks for putting a credible alternative in place...now that would be a mastreplan.

Cars today are many times more efficient and clean than a decade or so a go. Progress in that field is constant and I am not sure residents of ED are in any danger of suffering from car induced pollution illnesses... On the other hand, lefty world saving do gooders driving 1960' VW Campervans are as green as a frog in a blender...So maybe we should vote to force them to offset their carbon footprint by digging us "normals" a shiny new underground car park under Goose Green. I recon the ratio of earth dug up, to tonnes of Aquarious free thinking Campervan induced carbon is about 1... So you know it makes sense.

I was not referring to the mysterious or supernatural specifically, just that what surrounds us, up to the crest of our understanding is, in my book awesome enough; I also know you or I have not made it...So whatever clever force has, it is good enough for me to call... God. The moral wranglings humanity associates with this concept on the other hand....Different subject.

Gay marriage? Let's have a referendum
-Heinz- replied to silverfox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Well, that's settled then. -
What if the knowledge acquired by scientifical method were there to prove rather than refute the existence of something infinitely more clever and accomplished than we have ever dreamed...and what's wrong with calling it God?
