New Southwark Form to request a CPZ now online
1921 replied to jimlad48's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I do not want a CPZ locally, but should it come to be how can we protect against clever commuters "fiddling" the online to systems as their is not code to ensure you have been anywhere near the meter at the time the parking enforcement commences. I have heard from HH residents that commuters park early and leave their cars all day, then go online from their desks and pay and pay at noon for two hours, annoying but clever. -
Can something please be done about the following as I have witnessed the same thing daily and an accident WILL HAPPEN and very nearly did yesterday. Thankfully it didn't. When driving onto Court Lane, with Harold George on the left and additional set of traffic lights has been put in for the pedestrians to press so they can cross. Car drivers ARE NOT SEEING THEM as they are driving on the green lights that allow them to move in the first place and are driving straight through them. It is lethal, small children cross here without adults, this is an accident waiting to happen. Whoever designed this should be moved to a different department.

Hi James The newsagent was my source for Costa, maybe he is wrong. I do actually like Costa but would prefer something that isn't a coffee shop.
-
The newsagent over the road told me it was Costa as Southwark wouldn't allow an alcohol licence for Nandos. I have nothing against Costa as a business, I just don't think we need one on LL
-
That's lovely to hear, and it was freezing. It's fairly new so good to hear positive comments. 2wans - really?
-
It is a rent argument with the landlord who wanted to double it, such a shame. I am also a bit gutted Costa is appearing where Londis was, we don't need a coffee shop when LL has such fantastic independent ones to choose from.

I didn't see the accident but did drive past just as the ambulance arrived. The motorcyclist has been on my since, if you know them please do tell them I hope they are ok and make a speedy recovery. Thank you -
Dunstan's Rd is a lovely street, but... (ugly bins)
1921 replied to Nigello's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Ashbourne Grove residents use them to protect parking spaces and then leave them on the street which is very unneighbourly and a huge hazard as people end up walking in the road. The bin men we have are very good at putting them back on the correct property. -

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?

Hi James I live on Ashbourne Grove where the properties have space to have the three bins on them, either in front gardens or on the side of driveways. I never have enough room for my blue recycling but do not have room for another blue bin. Am I allowed to keep it on the street or pavement? I am unclear as wheelie bins are often on our road / pavement being used as car parking space savers, I looked on Southwark?s website but couldn?t find any information. I often use Belair Park to drop off my excess recycling but have recently had two punctured tyres due to broken glass so am less keen on this as an option due to the expense and inconvenience of a visit to quikfit. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. L Ellis -

Wood vale cemetery New No flower policy

I am so sorry for your recent loss and this happening to you and your family. Flowers, gifts etc are completely normal on graves, I would understand if very old looking flowers were removed but this is not the case. Personally I would contact your local councillor and ask them to deal with the cemetery on your behalf. You are grieving and most probably have plenty of other things to deal with that sadly happens when a death happens. It is also appalling they have blamed residents that clearly have not been consulted. With best wishes. -
The extended planning consultation period for development ends today. Southwark have not updated their website to show this, although they have been asked to on more than one occasion. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I urge East Dulwich residents to look at the planning application to convert the current annexe into 3 separate houses. The development is very dense and in breach of the idea of keeping East Dulwich suburban. It is also building on what was original a garden of a house on Melbourne Grove, which could establish a trend for such back garden development.

Due to the problems with virgin they have been giving me free data via my Virgin mobile so I can hotspot my phone. It works really well and does reduce the stress a bit.

Is Dulwich Hospital still open for Blood Tests?
1921 replied to oliviaandmilo's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
If you are going first thing, get there 15 mins before it is due to open as they always have a queue of people on their way to work. Mid morning is really quick and they are fanastic. -
I live on Ashbourne Grove and have been looking out for him, it appears we have rather of lot of black or black and white cats on the road, actually their appear to be a lot of cats!! So glad he is home, ours (B & W) got stuck in a garden and was missing for 48 hrs, it was awful, I felt your pain. Louisa at No 50

Hi Mark I am really sorry, I am trying to add photos to a for sale post and can not work out how to as it doesn't have add photos when you edit. What do I need to do. Thanks Louisa

Thank you, we will try Codfellas as it does GF batter. I went a long time ago and collected a takeaway and it wasn't that great when we got home. Most probably because F & C should be scoffed immediately.

Hi Can anyone recommend a fish and chip shop that is a good (or almost) as good as the Seacow on Lordship Lane was. NO1 is away so taking NO2 son out and fish and chips are his favourite but so far we are yet to find an alternative! Thanks

I also had a rather pushy unicef collector. We do give to charity and I explained that I would be happy to consider donating if they left the DD form with us but due to financial constraints I couldn't make a decision until next Month. He then looked at my house (mine is probably exactly the same as every other Victorian House in ED) and shrugged his shoulders as if I was lying and said he couldn't leave the form as it had his details on. I said oh well never mind and he said he could come back in a few hours once I had filled it in, when I said I wasn't going to do that he said something like "go back to your nice life", I just shut the door!
