As a then local who spent 3 years with interested parties discussing the prospect of the park being renovated & the sports facilities being upgraded with Ken Livingstones LDA, I'm delighted to hear this news. Boris wasted all these costly, lengthy negotiations & knocked the plan on the head. But he's obviously found a rich pal to revive the the plan. He'll need to get past some strong local opposition, as Bromley council tried to get a cinema complex & car park built there with funding & alleged backhanders from Kuwait without reffering to locals. Very proud to say my 87 year old Uncle was arrested for protesting! It was always said, that if anything was to be built there, it was to be rebuilt in the spirit of the old Crystal Palace which promoted the products, skills & wonders of the Empire, for the education & entertainment of the people. Personally, I would love to see it as a new design,promoting the best of British design,art, engineering & manufacturing, at which we have excelled for many many years. Why else would foreign companies buy up all our top branded manufacturing companies? They appear to have been replaced by the financial industry as our number one earner. It has more recently been thought the fire was started by the underfloor heating breaking through the wooden floorboards. Further, as a biased gardener, I would love to see wonderful gardens incorporated in the park renovations, as it is this countries favourite pastime.

I would like to add my recommendation to the growing list of Andy's admirers. As a landscape designer & builder, he has helped me in areas we are not accomplished at,as much as we would like on more than a few occasions. His work has always been first class & he's a lovely bloke too. He won't let you down, something that I'm becoming more aware of as more of my customers & even myself last year have had tradesmen take their money & not show up!

I have found it useful to recognise that I have a choice to get upset at small or large issues of this type. They are the problem of the people carrying them out. As soon as you get upset, you've made it yours!

Wow! What a wonderful post. And so wonderful to see so many people contributing with their experiences & advice. A problem shared is very appropriate. I also came to a very dark time about 10 years ago, and had a bit of an epiphany! I discovered by accident ( coincidence, I could design & build gardens. So I gave up my job & trained under a master Japanese gardener, I now love what I do, which makes me & the people I work for very happy. I believe the money will follow if you do what you live. I did 2 years counselling to come to terms with my many issues & I took up a thing called practical philosophy. The meaning of philosophy is love of wisdom & has given me reason in my life. It is based on eastern philosophies & uses meditation which allows me to see the movement of my mind & get to choose what I think. I no longer worry about anything, I have saved my relationship with my son, who now works with me. I have learned to deal with depression without drugs & am happy within myself. I am now opening up a holistic centre in Kefalonia using wonderful local therapists to teach yoga, Pilates meditation & healing. We live in a very material outward looking world & I came to the conclusion there are many people out there that have gifts & talents to help us, if we choose to ask. There is reason behind everything. Thankyou again for opening up this subject, I'm sure it will be of use to many
