  1. Glad to see the writing is on the wall for glitter. Good riddance! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-dorset-42026105/glitter-banned-by-dorset-children-s-nursery-chain
  2. I find Flipboard on the iphone is a great aggregator of news throwing-up articles from a variety of local and international sources.
  3. What sort of time did this happen? I was driving down the South Circular from the Horniman about 7:30 yesterday evening. When I went down the hill to the section that the South Circular turns left, a guy in blue Honda whipped past me on the inside and carried on at speed down Lordship lane. He then took a right onto Overhill where I lost him. I remember thinking at the time that he was heading straight for an accident. Any evidence of blue Honda at the scene?
  4. I went round to Kinleigh Folkard last night but found it to be all locked up!
  5. I'm already well in the office by 07:30 on a weekday morning :(
  6. Shout out for Rye in East Sussex
  7. Just registered in favour of re-opening. The statistics on the link show Southwark's own analysis of increased traffic on surrounding streets. I note Bellenden is mentioned, which with the curve in the road and double parking near the shops can at times be difficult to navigate. It takes less than five minutes to register your views.
  8. I had problems yesterday but now seems to be working fine.

If you can please retweet this so we get > their attention - > https://twitter.com/CllrJamesBarber/status/9096933 > 05864310784 Hi James, did you see the BBC Watchdog investigation into Virgin Media back in July? https://www.telecomstechnews.com/news/2017/jul/05/bbc-watchdog-calls-out-virgin-media-slow-broadband-stores-close-and-staff-voice-dissatisfaction/ The experiences of the people featured are identical to what's happening in ED. In the end the CEO Tom Mockridge intervened to bring additional capacity to the areas featured and people reported vast improvements. Can you make representation for them to do the same thing in our neighbourhood please? This over capacity issue has been around for at least 3 years but yet they still sign more people up.
  10. Hello Harry73. Many threads on this topic including the current http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1861312. In short, Virgin are dire in ED. We switched a couple of years back BT and have been very reliable.
  11. We left Virgin Media 18 months/2 years ago after experiencing exactly the same as described above. Went with BT. TV is rubbish in comparison, just a rehashed freeview with some catch-up capabilities. Internet too is slower on paper, but as mentioned above is night and day more reliable. I'd rather have a steady 45/50 Mbps than pay for 150 Mbps but receive only 1! Since that day I've never thought of or worried about broadband. Never had to phone BT and never had reason to complain. In ED at least it just works, and sometimes that's all people want.
  12. I bought a few things in there last Sunday and the staff were noticeably nonchalant. On the way home I remember commenting to my son about how miserable they were. This news explains a few things. Hope everything works out.
  13. This story sounds so familiar. Not only are they incompetent they're also dishonest especially concerning signing up people to a service they know they can't deliver. They're modern day highway men!
  14. PeckhamRose good point. I have a GoPro that I've had in a draw for years now suspended from my saddle using a special bracket I bought off Amazon for a fiver. Works very well.
  15. Sorry to hear about this. Sadly this is no consolation but I had a similar incident a few months ago. A limo driver swung open his car door as I cycled past in the City. Similarly I was okay but the bike was damaged. Fortunately I was close to a bike shop. I marched the guy over there and he gave me on the spot the ?200 the shop quoted for repair. Had I not done this I very much doubt I would have heard from that guy again. From that day on I've started using a helmet cam. Its very inexpensive, writes over the old footage when the card is full and has an iOS app for easy upload of clips to the phone. I hope I never get knocked off again, but if I do and another party is to blame I have the security of everything being recorded as evidence.
  16. Well well well! Sound familiar anyone? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-40504354
  17. Likely a BAe146 Avro RJ type aircraft flying into City Airport. The high mounted wings on these type of aircraft cause a diving type noise as the flaps are lowered for landing. As this happens on approach and the flight path is over ED this can this can appear loud in the neighbourhood
  18. Back in 2005 I lived on Chandler Way Peckham and had to catch the 343 on Southampton Way to get to work. At the time it was the only option in that part of Southwark and was consistently in the "top" 10 least punctual and most over crowded services in London. Nothing in SE22 remotely compares with that experience.
  19. I clicked on this because I thought it was a thread about Theresa May! I guess I need to broaden my viewing habits.
  20. Virgin Media in the ED area are charlatans. For years they've been fleecing people in our neighbourhood continuing to enroll more customers knowing that they don't have the capacity to deliver the advertised service.
  21. If I see a Foxton's Mini I generally give it the obligatory two fingered salute!

  23. I've always found anyone working air-side at Luton airport to be thoroughly miserable. I think that says it all.
  24. Second for Ken Clarke. His history of the UK in Europe and the case he made yesterday for the benefits we've reaped were very convincing and made me even more convinced that the decision on 23rd June was the wrong one.
  25. Does your TV also have a freeview tuner built in? Youview and an integrated freeview tuner will both use your aerial. If the freeview also doesn't work either it might be an issue with the aerial. If your Freeview is working, check the obvious things with the YouView box. Reboot, check the cables connected to the box etc etc. Out of interest, do the on-demand features still work on your YouView? They of course are delivered via the internet.
