  1. In a similar vein, I can highly recommend Hamish Lodge I used him to remove a very large tree, and found him to be reasonably priced and very prompt and professional. He's highly experienced, having done a lot of work for Dulwich Park. Very friendly chap, and happy to take the time to explain the work and talk through options. I'll be using him again. Hamish's details: Cut Above Tree Management Ltd. www.cutabovetreemanagement.co.uk 07971055438
  2. In reference to Otta's post, you are of course entitled to your opinion. By the same token, so is James. I'm entirely happy for our councillors to have an opinion regarding the area they represent, and the convinction / motivation to follow it through. In this case he also seems to be representing the majority opinion of the local community, which seems a good thing for a councillor to do! In short - thank you James, your efforts and contribution are much appreciated.
  3. There's clearly a lot of local objection to this application. Worth noting (as is referenced above) that the existing license conditions, and behaviour of the proprietors of the pub, are unreasonable. Should you be disturbed by the pub: - Call the Southwark Noise Complaint hotline on 020 7525 5777. - Email '[email protected]' - Keep a log of the disturbance (times, dates, reasons) Maintaining the volume of complaints to the Council will help to highlight the level of disturbance caused by the pub. The council employees will want a quiet life as much as local residents, so make the Pub's nuisance behaviour as much a part of their lives as ours.
  4. AGAINST: I would really urge all local residents (and sympathetic residents in the surrounding streets) to object to this. Existing problems: Tuesday quiz night with a loud microphone. Bands with drums & brass instruments on Thursdays. Both these issues are compounded by no sound proofing / thin glass in the pub, and leaving the doors open. Loose interpretation of existing licensing hours - no apparent effort to get customers to disperse, and then dragging wooden benches around when teh pub shuts. The proposal would leave the pub open to 12.30am Sunday to Wednesday, and 2.30am Thursday to Saturday. Most people not in the hospitality industry will get up for work between 6-7am - that implies on Friday morning the noise only stopping 3-4 hours before! The owners have already shown themselves to be inconsiderate to the community around them. The fact that they should even suggest this amended licence emphasises this. Not only should we object to this proposal, we should raise the existing behaviour to the council to enforce more considerate practices. I'm all in favour of new establishments in the area, but this has to be within the bounds of decency for a residential area.
