We lived in North London til recently and I still regularly take my 3 year old to Museum of London. It is great for that age - it doesnt have a specific kids play area but lots of it is interactive and aimed at children so that they have the opportunity to eg try on hats or they have a mock prison door with all the keys and locks etc and there is a bit with a train that they can play with. Plus good running around space and a pizza express nearby good for lunch if you dont want to go to the cafe there. There is a playground near Barbican and also the Barbican itself is not a bad place to spend some time either outdoors or in - lots of space to run about and lots of north london parents taking advantage! In terms of getting there - train to Farringdon as above or its only a short bus ride from London Bridge: 21, 141 and get off round Moorgate and walk through If the weather is good and you have time to kill after, thoroughly recommend jumping on a Thames Clipper boat east or West too

I was sorry to miss the meet up today as I had planned to go... but then got a last minute case at work to do. Would much rather coffee in the park! I really hope to make the next one - I am still working on and off until 12 April and we have also had to move temporarily back to North London whilst the worst of our building work is being done (terrible but predictable timing). Therefore not so easy for me to come over during the week although we are commuting with my daughter to her nursery in Peckham Rye! How about another weekend date? Or can I suggest another meet up during the week, maybe Lordship Lane/Bellenden Road or even Crooked Well in Camberwell? I could do a day later next week? Hope you are all well and look forward to coming back to South London (which now feels like home!) Jude x -

Done but still in 3rd place with 25%... Vote! -
In Islington where we were living, my daughter had the BCG done at four weeks! The policy in Islington and Hackney was (and is) for the BCG vaccination to be given ahead of all the others... I think because there is a higher incidence of TB in the area than elsewhere. Interesting the different approaches

Melbourne Tyres sounds really nice over the phone, but cannot come out as he works on his own. The local Kwikfit says they cannot come out - I have to contact the national Kwikfit Mobile Service. And they want details of existing wheel and tyre sizes. A tomorrow job. Sigh.

Thanks for prompt reply. You don't know it's name do you? I need to call them to get them to take the flat tyre off for me.

Can anybody recommend a cheap helpful little garage reasonably near Grove Lane/Dog Kennel Hill Road? I'm visiting my daughter (only recently moved here - she's the one registered on this forum) and the car I borrowed has a flat tyre. the car is not covered by the AA. Thirty odd years ago I would have changed it myself, but at nearly 70 it is beyond me. Frances

Happy to go with 9th and I dont mind afternoon if better for others... though for those of us who might wish to bring their children, it might need to be later afternoon to accommodate naps etc. Let's say the 9th and unless unworkable for the majority, 4pm? All happy with Victoria Inn? And Anita - welcome! I have only recently moved to the area too and only recently found this forum (luckily as it is an incredibly easy way to avoid work etc). There are lots of us in this group (see above for a loooong list) but we are only just getting organised in terms of meeting. Please do come along on the 9th or there is a weekday meet on 23rd too Jude -

Hello, was really good to meet some of you last Saturday at Peckham Rye(though my voice went completely for the rest of the weekend... thankfully I got it back for Monday for work) I said to Vic that I would take the lead in suggesting another weekend date ... so, what about Saturday 9th Feb? Or the 2nd if that better. I was thinking of suggesting The Victoria Inn on Bellenden Road as there is lots of room and they are very laid back (also v child friendly for those with little ones to bring) Of course, very open to other suggestions! RachC - hopefully you will have moved by then and can join - We just moved here and the whole thing is very stressful Not sure will be able to make the daytime meet on 23rd but may well ehem 'work from home' that day... Paediatrician who Specialises in Reflux - Urgent
Piaf replied to theratprincess's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I would also recommend the OCC as an additional support... I went there with my daughter who had terrible reflux for the first 4 mths and who knows whether the osteopathy 'cured' it, or medication, or simply her stomach etc maturing but I found the centre to be great. At the very least you feel you are doing something and I also think it helped that my daughter was being 'handled' by someone with calm and professional presence. I went when it was based in Clerkenwell (near where we lived then) but I believe it has moved to South London. Good luck and it does get better! -

Damn it... Christmas meet up with some friends on Bellenden Road means we are unlikely to make it today unless my 3 year old decides she is not going to nap. Would really like to meet you all tho, especially being new to the area and if cant come today will be there in Jan. also, is anyone doing the birth matters refresher course? Finally, what about the Victoria inn on Bellenden rd for a future meet up? Very child friendly Jude x -

Goodness, I think I am the latest to join this thread... But I would like to and also to meet up We moved from Islington to Camberwell/ed about a month ago and have barely had time to check out the area. I am due end of April with number 2... My daughter is already 3. Still working but it's likely to ease off in the new year (when we start building work eek) I could come on 29th EDT if it's on and otherwise keen to meet in the new year (and maybe do that refresher course ... Forgotten it all!) Thanks Jude (Piaf)
