Acappella singing group for mothers
matnurse1983 replied to elizamic's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I'm not a mother but would love to come and sing. I work as a nanny. Can carers join too? -
I remember lots of power cuts in the 80s too. Had torch and candles lit. Reading by candlelight was lovely. Contemplating how long it would last and possible food wastage from the fridge - not so much.

Thanks for your suggestion. I've been to a Guy's private therapist for 2 sessions. So far I've had massage to help release a trapped nerve and been given stretches and resistance bands to develop sets of muscles that are pretty non - existent. Decided to go with Guy's because their assessment was 1 hour long (1hr 20 in my case) and quite detailed. I'm getting a referral to the NHS service at Guy's and will hopefully see the same therapist. If not, my current therapist can pass on my file. If done using the choose and book service I should be able to have appointments on a Friday. Here's hoping for a smooth transition...

Hi Dagmar, Thanks for the Info on ESPH. I'm not planning on going private for all of my treatment and definitely don't expect it to be sorted in 2-3 sessions. I just want to make a start as I'm so uncomfortable. So far, Guy's are the only ones available regularly on a Friday so I'll check out ESPH for availability. I'm wondering how easy it is to transition from private to NHS (e.g. referrals and waiting times). I just want to make a start with treatment especially since I'm restricted to Fridays in terms of my own availability. Could be easier if I go with Guy's since it is thr the NHS private service. Hmmm...

Hi all, I'm hoping that someone here can help with advice. I have been having pain in my lower back and in my legs and feet, accompanied by numbness and pins and needles. As the pain has gradually gotten worse I went to see my GP who recommended back exercises and a referral to physiotherapy - this was on October 17. Since then I have had increased pain in my hips (burning sensation when stationary) and can feel a sharp pain and burning when walking (left hand side). I had been prescribed Naproxen but this didn't agree with me. I am now taking co-codamol and using Voltarol diclofenac 12 hour gel when at work (nanny). I have a physio appointment with my GP mid December but it's on a Wednesday and I really can't miss work, especially if I need regular appointments. I'm looking for a Friday appointment since I'm off on Fridays or an evening appointment. I am very keen to start treatment since my work is very active and I it feels like I'm doing more damage while I wait. Sooo... does anyone know a good private physiotherapist I can see quickly? I can probably afford 2-3 private appointments (on a health plan). Thanks D

Looking for removals company recommendation
matnurse1983 replied to matnurse1983's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We used Pavel and AndMove in the end. They were very competitive and super polite. I've never seen people work so fast. They only took a short break for lunch. I would definitely recommend them. -
Wow, congratulations Emily. Paris will be amazing I'm sure. Lucky you. Re meet up, I'm not available on Thursday nights due to choir commitments. Fridays work for me. I do have to babysit one Fri a month so will be free most weeks. I'm moving house next week though so could meet up for one or two on Wednesday. Give me a shout. D

Another newbie here I'm 31, living with my boyfriend and we are moving to ED in a couple of weeks. Would love to meet up with some like minded ladies. I'm big into singing and I joined the Nunhead community choir last year. It's great fun. Watching this thread with interest :D KKjj

Looking for removals company recommendation
matnurse1983 replied to matnurse1983's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Two great suggestions. I will make some calls tomorrow. D -
We have managed to find a flat in ED and now need a removals company.? We would like to use a local company if possible in order to keep costs down.? Its a pretty straightforward move except we need our furniture dismantled and reassembled at the new flat.? Has anyone had an excellent experience they'd like to share?? Thanks,? Delithea

Help! Where can I buy a fan?
matnurse1983 replied to matnurse1983's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I managed to get one fan/air purifier from B&Q and another floor tilting fan from Debenhams (arrived today). I use the purifier in our bedroom with windows open at night (so we don't breathe in too much Old Kent Road muck!) I ordered from Debenhams yesterday but the fans aren't showing up anymore My OH wasn't too bothered about getting them but I don't do so well in the heat. Thanks so much for all of the tips. The chemist sold out before I could get there and I've not been able to get down to Penge. I will keep an eye out for fans for those of you who are still looking :D x -

Non-toxic nail polish - where to buy in London?
matnurse1983 replied to matnurse1983's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks everyone forward all of the suggestions Ianr - you are right, there doesn't seem to be a difference between the two. I am taking a look at Suncoat which has far fewer ingredients: Aqua (water), polyurethane, acrylate, copolymer. May contain mica (CI77019), iron oxides (CI77491, CI77492, CI77499), titanium dioxide (CI77891), ferric ferrocyanide (CI77510), chromium oxide (CI77288), carmine (CI75470). Will have a look at Only fingers and toes right now over a cup of tea :) D -

Brilliant, I'll take a look at cowshed tomorrow. I'm going to Westfield on Friday so can also look there. Somehow, I don't think boots in Peckham will stock it :p Thanks for putting up with my mini stress :) D D -

Thanks Norfolkvillas I usually muck my nails up and have to re-do them :( Having something that's not smelly will really help :) Thanks again! D -
I am sorry to hear about your loss Midivydale. It is good to know that Mr Ivydale is going with you and your son. He will be able to take care of baby Ivydale when you are helping with the arrangements. Take care of yourself and each other. D x

Thank you Chief Jeff, the properties on Keyhold look amazing! To highlight an earlier point - I've just had someone over from the housing association to fix our extractor fan. I waited a month for this appointment and all he did was take a photo of it and order the replacement. I guess I have another month of waiting until we have a working fan. I have now bookmarked Keyhold, the EDF property section and Daisy Lets. Roll on September :)
