Given the 40 starts at Aldgate, I would expect there to be seats. Secondly, most of us cant leave before 5pm. Lucky for those who work part time.
  2. The weather was ok at 6am. Windy, but nothing worse than I have seen before. I am just surprised people werent prepared for the travel chaos after all the warnings. Buses were always going to be busy with no trains running.
  3. Best to stay in Brockley then.
  4. I wonder how many people had the common sense to leave home a little early today?
  5. JMB was the main news story on BBC. Wow! ED is mental.
  6. We know. I've seen this post twice before.
  7. Its a story about a successful business. A good story.
  8. Yeah, so yesterday! How is it dated?
  9. The Overground isnt running at the moment.
  10. I got to work via the buses; and the bus checker was right. However I left home an hour ago ...
  11. If this thread makes 50 pages, Admin should seriously consider shutting down the forum. I'm not a massive Louisa fan by any means, but I couldnt have put it better: "The M&S/Waitrose thing has gone on too long, let's just forget about them." Almost beer o'clock.
  12. Its UK-wide, and London in particular; Its not a SE22-specific issue. Do you read the papers? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/houseprices/10379821/UK-house-prices-hit-all-time-high-of-247000.html
  13. You are legally required to trim your bush so it doesnt grow outside your boundary fence/wall. I have been provided numerous flyers over the years stating you would be fined by the council if they had to do it for you. I am not saying this "vandalism" is right, but it is likely you have pi$$ed someone off by not trimming your bush and they have taken it into their own hands. I am not surprised the Safe Neighbourhood Scheme hasnt stopped by. Stick to the rules, and all will be fine. Zero tolerance to those lazy hedge trimmers too?

The tube is a metro system, and the distances you describe are far more than the distances between most tube stops (Metropolitan Line excepted). As bil said, it would reduce congestion of buses etc in and around Camberwell. > Depending on where you are in Camberwell, I would > think Oval Station, or perhaps even Elephant & > Castle Station, would be relatively near enough. Really bizarre to call GOSH and then strike this person off as a fraud. You can do almost any fundraising event, then decide to donate it to GOSH. As previous posters have said, they are a massive "go to" charity - and could never keep on top of every individual person who raises money for them. This is equally as likely a fraud as someone who is trying to do good in the community. I hope if the latter, this post hasnt stopped money going to a worthwhile charity. Dont jump to conclusions and berate an individual on this forum. Best to remove the name until you can prove for certain this is indeed a fraud. Innocent until proven guilty and all that.
  16. At the risk of being crucified here; I just dont understand why anyone would leave items of value in a car. There has been a number of posts recently where people have had goods of value stolen from their vehicles. Has the world forgotten common sense? Really sorry to hear about your loss arworld; and will keep an eye out.
  17. Based on the OP, I am guessing in the evening.
  18. Weird post. I look both ways regardless of what a little green man says. Until they put down lead barricades at lights, I will continue to do so. One of the first things I was taught in Common Sense 101.
  19. Im with Ladygooner. Whingeing on a forum and taking photos isnt going to get anything done. Unless you have been living under a rock for the last 5 years, you might have noticed we are living in a pretty tough economic climate with cuts to many services. I am sure picking up rubbish isnt on the top of the priority list for councils. I would be more than happy to pick up the rubbish. We all need to do a little bit. I clean up mess in my own street, and I really dont mind helping out the community. Or is this all a bit below the rest of us ?

Another transient suburb full of SAFFAS and > Aussies...nooo thanks. I do like the less > transient saffas and aussies we have now to be > clear ; ) A wee bit racist dont you think? London benefits from its transient population, and to single out Australians and South Africans as such stinks of complete ignorance. Would you know if 90% of ED were transient? Would it really affect you? I am not sure how the tube would actually increase the number of people in ED. Its a mere 12 minute ride from LB (a fairly busy transport hub); and I dont expect towers of flats to be built because of a tube station. Where would they be built? The reason ED is less busy than Clapham is because the terraces are smaller and harder to convert to flats. A tube wont change that. I would welcome another transport option. I think the recent addition of the Overground is a great benefit for areas like Peckham, and more infrastructure options can only be a good thing.
  21. Gutted there will be no chip shop.
  22. Funny how some people feel a Waitrose mean an area is "gentrified". I prefer small independents to a busy high street full of chains. Besides, your "proof" says that nothing has been decided about Brixton anyway. M&S have had "their eyes on" ED for some time. ED was gentrified ages ago, whereas Brixton still has a way to go.
  23. Veralucia: 1. Read the forum before posting. It will avoid multiple threads on the same topic: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1175727 2. Why would you push anyone off their bicycle? Its akin to saying you want to run over a pedestrian who walks on the road. What type of sick person are you?
  24. Sorry to hear about these situations, but I am still surprised at how many people leave valuables in their car - locked or unlocked. I never leave anything of value in a car. Its just asking to be taken.
  25. Great post. People need to also remember the budget cuts that are hitting the public sector, and that the police are stretched more than ever at the moment. A great outcome, and hopefully more thieves are caught as a result of the good work by police and vigilant locals.
