  1. Here?s the planning application, looks as though it will be taking on the Old Mothercare unit of the Aylesham Centre (next to Jones and Higgins fascade). Http://planbuild.southwark.gov.uk:8190/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=externalDocuments&keyVal=_STHWR_DCAPR_9575940 (Sorry not sure how to link it up properly) Louisa.
  2. I will aim to stop posting on this forum at ridiculous hours of the night, whilst partially inebriated. Louisa.
  3. Another fascinating Christmas on planet ED. People fighting over the last chunk of Red Leicester in a cheese shop. I got all my cheeses weeks ago from a lovely garden centre/farm shop in Kent. No one was ?watching me? whilst I was shopping, nor was I craving the attention of passers by so I could be seen standing in line waiting with anticipation for a overpriced lump of matured Gouda. Middle class men and women with wicker baskets craving the eyes of passers by, trying to be more pretentious than the person in front of them. Good grief, get a grip. It?s all going to be open again in a few days, take my advice. Stay home, crack open a nice malbec and watch some Christmas films with a tin of sweets. Merry Christmas everyone! Louisa.
  4. Too late. It was forced out by M&S. sadly. Louisa.
  5. What I find most offensive about this thread is that, taken at face value, a forum member has reported the brutal mugging of a elderly unwell relative who has suffered injury, and despite this fact, it has been clearly taken off topic for trolling purposes by a user with just five previous posts all of which are blatant attempts at trolling, and the regulars on here, who should know better, have fallen for this BS and consequently managed to take a serious topic off into a debate about what is and isn?t a politically correct way of identifying a criminal. Good work everyone. Louisa.
  6. What frustrates me as a driver and as a pedestrian, is not being able to park a vehicle outside your own property because of ?out of town? commuters using my road like a car park so they can travel into town on a train/bus. This is all well and good when you?re younger, but for older and disabled people this can be infuriating. Having friends and family over to visit is almost impossible during the week, if my vehicle is moved for a second to go shopping or to the hospital- I expect to be parking three or four streets away on return. Adding yellow lines to junctions by 7m will exacerbate this problem, unless a CPZ is put in place. I personally would be MORE than happy to pay for the privilege of parking close to my home, to prevent the ignorance of commuting motorists. Louisa.
  7. Very sad news. Great memories of this place going back decades, literally. I know the present landlord has been brilliant at making it a ?proper local? for everyone. Such a shame. How sad to lose another local pub. A famous one at that. Louisa.
  8. Peckhampam Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So M&S nearly 25% cheaper Subject to the above information of course, egg size and quantity and of course are they free range etc. If you don?t mind caged eggs, Iceland sell 10 large ones for a quid. Don?t think M&S could match that. Louisa.
  9. Sue Iceland sell 6 large free range eggs for 0.89p, 12 for ?1.75. Not sure of the size and price of M&S eggs, but 10 for ?1.36 is a good deal if they?re free range and large. Louisa.

Certainly some bargains towards close of play, usually about one hour before. Lots of bakery, fresh produce, cakes and sandwiches are significantly reduced. I?d certainly agree it?s cheaper than co-op for many items and way superior in terms of quality. But then Iceland did some great deals which neither current option can match. Understandably so. Louisa.
  11. I now only use Iceland on the Old Kent Road for big shops. It?s not far, and parking is easy for me. It?s those that don?t drive I feel sorry for, forced to jump buses and lug shopping around. I also miss the convenience of Iceland for bread and milk, other essentials etc. The Co-op is a shambles. M&S is out of most people price bracket for a regular shop. Louisa.
  12. Another money grabbing scheme for a cash rich devolved power. They?ve had it in their grasp to ban polluting vehicles from central London for years now, why are we still waiting? They don?t care about pollution, they care about grand standing and lining their pockets whilst doing so. Shameful. If you care about global warming BAN certain vehicles from central London with immediate effect. Louisa.
  13. KK I will of course shout ?thankyou? rather loudly if I stand back for people to walk through and don?t receive a response. More often than not this is met with an automatic apology, sometimes people are just not aware and if anything it helps them be more thoughtful in the future. A small group of people do not respond at all. They?re the ones who get to me most. Groups of people in large groups tend to be families, maybe the kids are showing mummy and daddy around ED because they're up visiting for the weekend from Hampshire or Sussex. The visitors are in a world of their own looking around at things and so it should be the responsibility of one or two people to shuffle people over so that they?re not hogging the whole pavement. This isn?t rocket science, it?s common sense. If you see a person approaching you, surely you kind of just shuffle over a little to allow them through? I don?t get why we have this issue even. Louisa.
  14. It?s a constant struggle in public places around Dulwich to avoid whole families walking 4/5 abreastalong the street. And casually not thanking someone for standing to one side for them. Makes my blood boil. Louisa.
  15. Foxy be careful what you wish for. If a public vote was anything to go by, those illustrations could easily be you and I in those stocks. Louisa.
  16. Excellent news indeed, but I fear it?s probably an open invitation for a large chain cinema to now bid on the downstairs space as the security of a longer lease beckons. Louisa.

A zoo or perhaps a specialist conservation roundabout, similar to the Eden Project in Cornwall. Butterfly sanctuary, exotic plants and trees etc. Louisa.
  18. I am deadly serious Foxy. Many larger roundabouts have subway access ( the one on the A3 at Putney Hill for example). Metal railings could be out around the outer edge to prevent danger. It?s a complete waste of land. Anyway, some people around here enjoy eating and drinking on pavement seating so I don?t think fumes would be an issue. Perhaps some local councillors could explain why these spaces are not utilised effectively? Louisa
  19. On a serious note I?ve often wondered why GG and other roundabouts (especially larger ones) are not used as public spaces for picnics and exercise. Some roundabouts are beautiful, and it seems a complete waste of land. Louisa.

I was causing no harm to anyone, and only stayed a short while. Leave me in peace! These benches are very important stopping spaces for anyone with a health condition, especially older people. Louisa.
  21. My neighbours are mostly lovely and friendly. Never had major issues, and we all look out for each other. Louisa.
  22. At least with this confirmation board we don?t have to go tedious thread after tedious thread discussing whether Waitrose or Marks will be taking it on. Thankyou whoever put the signs up! Louisa.
  23. Eynella Road sounds horrific, I don't know how people sleep at night in such a rough poverty ridden street. All those fireworks being thrown around. I can see why so many people are now moving out to beautiful market towns like Lewes, oh wait a minute... Louisa.
  24. This has to be the most non-thread I've seen in ages. Kids throwing fireworks around the 5th of November. It happens everywhere this time of year. If not more so in provincial town England. The middle classes are scared of their own shadow. Louisa.
