  1. And so the mocking and scoffing begins. Rome wasn?t built in a day, but I think the Fox is onto something with this pedestrianised idea for LL. Buses could easily be diverted down Crystal Palace Road, and cars down Barry. It?s a simple solution which would create a wider space for the majority of people, less congestion. It would also be a safer environment for residents on side roads. The problem would be solved overnight. Deliveries etc would probably need to be exempt. Louisa.

Probably the best idea I?ve heard of for a while. All these so called ?elected officials?, and someone with common sense speaks up and solves the issue just like that. I have wondered for a long time why Lordship Lane wasn?t pedestrianised. Barry Road is the ideal candidate for by-passing the LL, and the Rye is always busy at any time of day. It would free up a lot of space, and provide more room for pedestrians and cyclists. Councillor Barber, any opinions on this matter? Who else thinks pedestrianising Lordship Lane is a good idea? Louisa.

Not sure about bus journeys as they aren?t my first choice of transportation, however they are the types who drive huge 4X4 type vehicles (once only seen in the likes of the Village), up and down narrrow residential roads looking to steal parking spaces from residents so they can pick up their offspring from private nurseries. I don?t wish to turn this into a discussion about yummy mummies and prams, but they ARE part of the wider problem when it comes to poorly laid out pedestrian pavements, and walking two abrest with prams and refusing to move over, or even worse not acknowledging other members of the public. BUT as I say, if the pavements were laid out correctly, this would not be so much of a big issue. Louisa.

The spot in question has a rubbish bin next to a large road sign and is directly outside the Bishop and Estate Agent entrance. Infuriating. Louisa.
  5. God some people on this forum do moan a lot. They were clearly only responding to the requests of nearby homes? Or am I missing something? Louisa.
  6. Well for a start I think the outside seating area for the restaurant and pub should be removed or at least made less obstructive. They?re hardly used this time of the year, and yet they manage to take up a huge amount of space. We also have bins and lampposts in the most ridiculous places possible. Have you tried to walk along this stretch when a buggy or wheelchair is having to fight for space with stupid deliveroo bikes parked up on the pavement obstructing peopl. Buses are using this stretch, as are cars, and it is unacceptable pedestrians should be forced into the main road. It?s as simple as that Sue. Someone needs to do something. I?m sick of having to jostle for space every single time I leave the house. Also admin, why has this been moved into the lounge? It?s ED specific and important. Louisa.
  7. Encountered some very dangerous walking at numerous times of the day, along various stretches of LL. I am particularly concerned about the stretch between Franco Manca and The Bishop, right opposite the busy junction with East Dulwich Grove. Buses turning right, pedestrian crossing in front of you. Various obstructions including lamp posts, bins, uneven surfaces and large puddles on wet days. It?s causing people to walk out into the road, a busy stretch at that. It?s only a matter of time before a accident happens. I walked along this morning and noticed a man in a mobility scooter was forced to wait whilst others casually walked on through without an ounce of consideration. I really think something needs to be done. Louisa.
  8. I wouldn?t have thought Wetherspoons would be anyone?s first choice anyway? Louisa.
  9. Not only have I experienced ignorant pavement hogging parents with buggies, I?ve also had to pull the self absorbed ones up for not politely acknowledging someone standing back to let them through with their precious cargo. Not everyone wants to hear your screaming child when they?re paying for a service in a local business such as a cafe. I don?t personally see the issue with a parent taking some responsibility and ensuring the shared environment of a cafe is comfortable for everyone. Don?t get selfish people at all. Louisa.
  10. Spirit isn?t always earth bound, it?s a complex area we just do not have the ability to understand. Current thinking from spiritualism is that some souls remain earth bound because of a bad passing or unresolved issues during life. Others believe the soul has already moved to the next phase of existence, but much like a tape recording or film, their energy is continuing to perform acts and memories from their earthly life. A recording frozen in time if you like. Most spiritualists are of the belief that our soul goes elsewhere, to a new dimension where existence runs parallel with earthly life. It?s a complex area, but if you are interested please PM me and I can explain further. I also recommend a visit to Eltham Spirtualist Church. The members are friendly and would be more than happy to explain all of the above, and will also provide a working display of their beliefs. Louisa.
  11. I find interesting how lay people can go on to become experts in other people?s belief systems. Science can only prove what we have been smart enough to learn about the world around us. Anything else, is a mystery yet to be solved. Some research a few years ago went on to prove that consciousness existed beyond the death of the rest of the body. Those sceptics among us are fully entitled to their beliefs and opinions, and I respect that. But mocking someone else who has a strong belief based on personal belief systems as well as experiences which have offered comfort in times of suffering, are pretty low in my estimation. You wouldn?t go out of your way to mock an organised abrahamic religion in such a cavilier manner, so I?d appreciate people respecting others for their belief systems rather than trying to act like scientists with total and undeniable knowledge of the world around them. Patronising to say the least! Louisa.
  12. Not necessarily specific to your former house, but I live not far from Barry Road. I?ve been interested in the paranormal for some decades now and regularly attend a spiritualist church. I?ve come to the conclusion that science and logic just cannot explain everything in this world, however much we would want it to. Numerous properties locally have reported spiritual or other worldly phenomenon in the guise of smells, unusual sounds and creeks, even manifestation in rare cases. Audible sounds without anyone being present are often the most usual reported activity. If you are unable to get specific information on this property, please feel free to PM and I can direct you to spiritualist churches in se London which will be able to guide you towards trying to explain the unexplainable, in as best way they can. Louisa.
  13. So from what I have heard it?s the Maroush, which has a restaurant on the Edgware Road and a few others dotted around North London. They?re Lebanese and specialise in meze type dishes. http://www.maroush.com However, no information on planning portal and absolutely no press releases from the Dulwich Estate, so perhaps we should wait for further information? We all know how rumours end up on this forum. Queue exhibit A, Waitrose Etc Louisa.
  14. Digging holes and putting bulbs in them, cutting back weeds left over from the summer months, the lady even uses scissors to cut the edges of the lawn! I didn?t approach them last night but I shall certainly do so next time. It?s not so much what they?re doing (even though that?s bloody weird), it?s the time of day. I wasn?t sleeping, but if I had of been, I?d be furious now. Louisa.
  15. Just got home from a restaurant meal, tucked into a bottle of sauv left over from Christmas, take a look out the back window and the neighbours are at it again. Gardening. They do the full works, apart from the use of loud equipment. It?s janaury, it just doesn?t seem right to me. Not to mention the antisocial element involved. They have the garden lights switched on too. Should I go and say something? I?m tempted. Louisa.
  16. I thought the whole point of removing Martins was to offer the extra space for a little Waitrose? Louisa.
  17. My god there are some nosey sods in this world. Let?s hope whatever happened, the person is safe and being treated in hospital. Not that we need to know, it really isn?t anyone else?s business. Some awful people in this world, honestly. Louisa.
  18. Neighbours holding parties without pre-warning the people they share the immediate space with. Infuriating. Louisa.
  19. Once some clarity over the Brexit position becomes apparent, we may start seeing the market moving again. Currently there is just too much uncertainty to guarantee stability. If, as I suspect, a no confidence vote emerges from parliament over the Brexit deal, the government could collapse and/or survive on the promise of a second EU referendum. Something big like this has to happen to improve certainty in the market. Louisa.
  20. I was walking here 5 or 6 days ago, swift walk to the Village P.O. is often quicker than waiting around in the queue at the LL branch. I have to say, these so called improvements, are an accident waiting to happen. Turney Road traffic is now having to completely re-route as it heads across the main road into the village, and if someone isn?t a local they?ll quite possibly become confused and miss the correct turning. I was shocked at the pedestrian crossing by how long I had to wait for the lights to change, and court lane traffic was queuing early afternoon! Unheard of previously. A total shambles and if anything, it will make the entire situation worse, not better. Louisa.
  21. I wish you would stop trying to piddle on someone else?s fire. It?s quite clear today?s not about you, and yet you just can?t help yourself. Now, leave me alone etc Louisa.
  22. Yet more forum gold, and this time the fox and myself had nothing to do with it! Louisa.
  23. Biggin Hill or Knockholt areas every day of the week. Within the M25 but also in area of outstanding natural beauty (the North Downs). MUCH cheaper than surrounding areas such as Downe or Sevenoaks. Good transport links into central London in under 20 mins. Open fields and countryside, but also 10 min drive to Bromley shopping centre. Louisa.

Unbelieavable. Louisa.
  25. Abe_froeman Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I guess this means Nando's have given up on the > Londis site on Lordship Lane. To be quite fair to them, Nando?s would suit Peckham fair more than ED- younger population, busier, night life crowds, students etc etc. I think it will do very well indeed down there on Rye Lane. The LL Londis site is better suited to something like a Bill?s restaurant. Louisa.
