  1. Dear Asset!! I always participate in the local culture when I go on a holiday, so I do not intend to take my fancy London ways to Devon with me, I plan on becoming a local... slightly different to the people who move to ED I think!!
  2. I'd be more than happy to be living it up in North Devon. Wonderful food, local markets, reasonable weather, gorgeous scenery, friendly people (all based on years of experience visiting the place).. I love Devon so much because it has a true county identity, and it feels welcoming.. Maybe Plymouth is an exception to the rule but hey.. I would give up ED in a flash if my circumstances were different, even though I love the place and all..
  3. i've seen more labradors (especially chocolate coloured ones) in ED than any other type of dog.
  4. The Village - Afghan Hound North Dulwich - Bull Terrier West Dulwich - Weimaraner East Dulwich - Labrador Retriever
  5. One chilled sparking red wine I often drink is made by Banrock Station. It is actually a real treat, it's like drinking a red champagne, and it's full of a whole host of flavours. Goes great with beef wellington.
  6. Brendan I am with you on that one, rose is a lovely tasting wine, and it comes in some many different varities you are spoilt for choice. I am fully behind it.
  7. No sean I didnt, when hubby returned home we sat in the garden and listened to music. I did ask but he looked a little fragile lol... I am determined to come to the next one, with or without him, though I did get a little toasted on Friday after my early afternoon wine tasting session hehe... Did you have a good evening?
  8. I felt awful on Friday after finishing that bottle off. I fell asleep in the garden and woke up with heat stroke. I'm on the tea today.
  9. I had a giant bag of the free state version of cheese and onion Taytos on the ferry to Dublin last June, and I was disappointed with the taste somewhat. I actually wander if Walkers make the crisps and package the food in Tayto packaging. I remember Taytos being very nice crips, but they are just clones now. Walkers destroyed Smiths over here and contributed to the death of Golden Wonder, as you can tell I am not a big fan of Walkers.
  10. Not being funny everyone, but how difficult is it to fry a bit of meat and stick it between two buns? If you want to guarantee a nice burger, then cook it yourself!
  11. I've just looked and it's a Dom P?rignon from 4 years ago, I cant remember who gave me it, but i'm sure it was a relative of some sort trying to get out of buying me a decent xmas present. Anyhow here goes!
  12. One of my neighbours is a new age hippy type family, they calim to be Welsh, and yet when they speak they sound American. I have pointed this out to them a few times and they never fully explain the bizarre accent. It does bug me though when they speak.
  13. I know what would make a loud noise, let me go and search for a bottle of champagne I was given but never drunk in the back of the fridge somewhere.. I will fizz it up and then open, shout out if you can here it. It must be really icy cold now, should be great!
  14. Goes great with a frozen pizza too.
  15. Sean you are more than welcome to come and join me for a drink - I want to come along this evening but hubby would have to come too otherwise we'll end up in an argument - and I hate that, especially on a weekend. What time is everyone getting to the pub for?
  16. You must have moved here from a fairly affluent area to have a Foxtons as a local agent.
  17. AD, White Stuff is very 'man bags at the ready', and i've noticed half the guys inside were wearing those very trendy thin framed glasses. It does seem to attract geeks. *Bob* I never backtrack - I love my rose wine, it's chilled and refreshing and I know how much youd love to be sat here with me now having a glass accompanied by some banter.
  18. I've slapped on a bit too much of the sun factor cream today MadWorld.. If only I could find a decent man to slap it on for me.. (Mr Louisa excluded).
  19. *bob* are laptops now only for the use of posh folk? Can a 'rough as old boots' girl like me not have a glass of cheap sainsburys rose from time to time? (On second thoughts I better get inside before I scare the neighbours).
  20. Alan Dale I find joshing with folk on here is highly therapeutic, and in seriousness, I do not have a complete hang-up on the idea of an area of London changing or transforming. I as an individual can do little to stop it, apart from continue to shop at places now on the 'at risk register' because the yuppies have a wish list of high end stores they would like to see replace 'a certain frozen food store' et al. I think they have already done a number on us with the pubs, or should I say bars.
  21. I've been sat in the garden on my laptop for nearly 3 hours and I have a lovely tan now. I'm currently sipping on a glass of chilled rose. I love fridays!
  22. Its interesting that ED currently comprises a social housing population of 30%, and in addition probably at least another 30% of home owner but culturally working class people, that comprises well over half of the community. Walk down LL and what percentage of the shops are aimed at people with a high income? I would say well over 2/3.
  23. *Bob* i'm not hard up by any stretch of the imagination, so I have absolutely no reason to be jealous or resentful of their wealth at all.
  24. The aim of the new set isnt to embrace what is already here and live alongside it, these people wont be happy until every shop along LL is transformed into something to suit them.
  25. Yes but the resentment isnt aimed at the individual wealth of a person and the fact that they have it and others do not. It is the way the wealth is used to 'regenerate' or change an existing community to suit the needs of a new one. I do not want the wealth or want to see it changing my ED.
