  1. We have just finished using Norwood Roofing for a couple of the properties we manage. We also used him on a property last year where previous roofers had let us down but David took over and solved the problems. He produces clear photos of before and after the work. The work was done on schedule and we are pleased with the high standard of work. He identified a further problem we had not identified on one of our properties so it was repaired before it started leaking. Competitive prices too! His website is [email protected] tel no 0741 2000214
  2. Yes Lordship Lane Carpets are very rude and surly. They slammed the phone down on me yesterday - very, very poor attitude to potential customers. Avoid, avoid!
  3. I moved to South Norwood in 2011 near the Country Park and have not regretted it. Property prices def on the increase in the area. Thameslink due to arrive in S Norwood in the next couple of years (apparently). Check out South Norwood Tourist Board for an irreverent look at SN.
  4. I moved to South Norwood nearly 3 years ago. Got a 3 bed house for same price as a 1/2 bed flat in Dulwich. Yes it is run down, great if you want jerk chicken though! My daughter who uses public transport all the time feels very safe. Great community spirit. Local Harris Academy is apparently joining up with the Upper Norwood Academy which is v good. South Norwood Tourist Board getting rave coverage from national press and had BBC down for a piece on their referendum on leaving Croydon. They even got Captain Sensible over to unveil his commemorative bench - priceless. I really feel it's a great place to buy, certainly worth a look!
  5. Hi, Regarding removing bees nests - we have one in a bird box - address in SE24. Is anybody interested in taking the swarm away? Worried as children in the garden.
  6. Does anybody know whether the woman who gave birth in Dulwich Village yesterday afternoon is ok? Watched by all those at Gails and Pizza Express, she had her baby in a small 3 door hatchback! There was a doctor and an ambulance on scene and she was able to get herself into the ambulance afterwards. Wishing her and her new baby all the best!
  7. Well, just before Christmas I was at North Dulwich Station,I'd just missed my train and decided to sit down for a minute. On the bench beside me I found a plastic bag full of brand new music CD's and PC games. I took them back up to the ticket office which had the blind down. I knocked on the window until they opened up the window and handed over the bag. The lady looked at me as if I was mad when I handed over the bag of CD's and told her they had been left behind. I really hope the owner came back to claim them. I know I felt better handing them over than just leaving them where I found them. It didn't lead to me having a better day or anything but it's nice to try and do a good turn.
  8. My car was parked in Village Way on Tuesday and somebody just stole my passenger-side wing mirror, kindly leaving behind just the wire sticking out. I don't think it was an accident, I really believe they were on the look-out because of the clean way it was taken. So cross!
  9. It might not have been the council who got the tables and the keep-fit sculptures. It could possibly have been done by the Friends of Dulwich Park.
  10. There are also some 'installations' around the road in the park that look as if they are keep-fit orientated. Last time I went around the park they were still bubble-wrapped, so difficult to tell. I hope to see a few 'fit' men embarrassing themselves soon!!
  11. A case of Swine flu has been confirmed at Alleyn's School. Further information on their website. --------------------------- Please find attached the NHS document on Swine Flu for reference and government advice. Should you have any further question it is recommended that you call the numbers given in the attached document (namely 0800 1 513 513) - The Administrator
  12. Yes it is where the new toy shop will be opening. I think it is opening the 2nd Saturday in May.
  13. The fight was advertised on one of the social networking sites as being organised by the Charter School as a snowball fight between them and Dulwich College. Then anybody who likes a bit of fun went as well, bringing the numbers up significantly. I think most of the Dulwich senior schools were represented. Let them enjoy themselves - they're only kids
  14. Its very concerning to think that there may be dog snatchers in the area. My first thought is to inform the Park Warden in Dulwich Park. He can get the local police over very quickly and if they know there may be a problem then it would lead to more policing in the park, which I'm all in favour of. The Park Warden is normally there from 0830. Alternatively, go to the cafe in the park as I believe they also have good contact with the local police. Please tell us what type of dog you have - I walk around the park most days and the jungle telegraph is an excellent way to warn other dog walkers but also to keep people on the alert for this guy.
  15. Where will we go for our girlie lunches now? We even gave up going to town as we so enjoyed our lunches at Springers! We'll see you later for our long boozy session at our regular table today.
