Major Works by Southwark Council...should I be worried?

Midivydale, we have just started the process of enquiring about purchasing the loft space from Southwark and have been told to expect to pay around ?500 for the fees and valuation before a decision is made. I have to admit that I'm nervous about how much we'll be charged if they agree at all! Annoyingly as there are only two flats in our converted Victorian house (downstairs is a council tenant) we don't have the option of buying the freehold... -
