In ED???? Surely not???? Have the papers been notified??? I mean, sod Come Dine With Me - this deserves a documentary all to itself! Can I ghost write the biography?

I'm not sure but I can tell you that > it would be ghastly and tragic for this to happen > to him and some other poor sod yet again. Not necessarily ghastly in terms of state interference, more likely just completely futile if he does not feel motivated to change himself. A few weeks back I was waiting for a bus in Belfast City Centre in the early evening and there was a chap on one of the benches nearby, drunk and drinking, who was in the process of removing a canula and ECG pads from his body. He had just signed himself out of hospital against medical advice folowing an acute admission to A&E and there he was back on the booze again. A few years ago I was on hols in Aya Napa on Cyprus. There was a youngish guy (maybe late 20's) in the same apartment complex as me who had been taken a couple of days before to the nearby poly-clinic for abdominal pains. Doctor told him that he had liver problems and gave him firm medical advice to stop drinking, yet there he was a day or two later sitting by the pool drinking rum and coke.! Tragically, there is little purpose of trying to help someone who is not prepared to help himself.
  3. Perhaps the Nappy Lady who is so incensed about this could start a lucrative business selling nappies for dogs? I am inclined to agree with pbateman that this is a bit of a nothing thread. When I was growing up in a nice neighbourhood the odd wonky pavement and dog turd was more or less par for the course. Nowadays such things are the stuff of irate threads on EDF and demands that the council set up flying squads to carry out controlled explosions on suspect deposits! If your kids come home every day having trodden in and handled dog poo perhaps it would be a good idea to teach them not to walk in the smelly brown stuff?
  4. Or Monica - she is perpetually involved in everything.
  5. I believe there was some dispute as to whether Mr Joyce could actually be convicted for treason as he was of American birth (or something like that). Fat lot of good that did him. I think the Crown's argument was that he had claimed British citizenship or protection and that was good enough. Reminds me of Eamon de Valera, the Irish statesman, who escaped execution after the Easter Rising on similar gounds of claiming American origins. Didn't stop hjim becoming President and Prime Minister of Ireland any amount of times.
  6. East Dulwich lacks a West Side.
  7. Might as well ask why East Dulwich and Peckham are so different. Is the only reason the original comparison is being made because they both have the word 'Dulwich' in the name?
  8. I think libraries are magnificent. They are some of my favourite places to go to access the Internet or borrow a DVD. I understand that they have started to do books as well. A bold diversification away from their core competence, I say, but I take my hat off to them.

  11. Who actually notices these things?????????????
  12. A decent gym. Fusion and EPS or whatever it is are SH**E! A couple of building societies instead of the dreadful Barclays and HSBC. Gun club, brothel and a shop that sells those sharp objects you can scatter on the ground to puncture the tyres of the horrific bugaboos!

  14. Please take a large sample of the offending substance and send it to me for forensic analysis. Place it in a sealed manila envelope and post to: PC Copper East Dulwich Police Station Lordship Lane No postage stamps are required as we will accept postal charges. Snigger!

  17. I saw some on Underhill Road lying in a gutter. Looked like it had been there some time but you could check it out, it might still work.
  18. I guess the moral of this story is that we should all masturbate in the privacy of our own homes, or those of understanding friends. Unless, of course, you are a breast-feeding mother in which case you are entitled to expose any part of your anatomy in any place you please and damn the offense to anyone else.

If you need to go you need to go and there might not have been anywhere else to hand. We all said nothing when Paula Radcliffe gave us a flash of her bits to take a piss in the gutter during the London marathon.
  22. Personally, I would support the school being informed, whether or not they are able to identify the culprit. If I was a Headmaster (no pun intended) and one of my pupils was bordering on being a sex criminal I would want to know.
  23. Really, it's down to the fact that the DMs are a pretty ghastly waste of space wherever they pop up and I am with you Louisa in supporting a cull in their number and a restriction of the alarming spread.

Ninety per cent of Jo Brand's stand up material for the last twenty years has been devoted to mocking her own appearance and fondness for food, booze and fags!

She has her own special carriage with reinforced suspension and its own buffet car. Sorry, that's mean.
