Hi, I'm just after an update. I visit ED every couple of weeks, and leaving tonight at about 7pm on Crystal Palace Road I was forced to stop the car because of a large, very confused duck or goose walking around in the road. It didn't seem to want to take off, perhaps because of the fog and the dark. A couple who were passing on foot also stopped in concern, and said they couldn't leave it there, and assured me they would call the RSPB or someone appropriate locally. If they're reading this, can they update me on what happened to the poor thing? Most London traffic I get stuck behind doesn't have feathers! Thanks- Serena

Appreciated here too, Green Goose: I'm currently staying in a flat overlooking the signs, and was thinking they were a real eyesore. It's a pleasure to look over the balcony now! I can't offer the same compliments to whoever I spotted turning up with a broom and bin bag to clean the Altima Court entrance steps a few days ago, and who chucked a loose Jackson's sign lying there out onto the pavement, and a largish piece that had come off it into one of the adjacent gardens. Whilst it's great that someone's tasked to deal with the doorway rubbish, littering ED Road and someone's garden in the process would seem to negate the point of the exercise.

Nearly all these garage names, particularly Bristol Street Motors, still coming up on business directory web searches for 31-35 East Dulwich Road, at least 6yrs after the garage was demolished. Shows you how often these directories are updated ... No photos of this part of the road yet, though. Not that a garage would make a particularly photogenic shot!

Eagleken: thanks for the Gordon Garage bit, that will particularly help with a web search: there must be some mid-20th century photos somewhere ...

Brilliant, thank you! The cars on Google Earth make sense now. The image isn't close enough to make out that they're new / on show. I worked for Ford years ago, so almost certainly dealt with the dealership. Small world :)

My boyfriend lives at Altima Court. We've been looking at old photos of East Dulwich, but can't find any of East Dulwich Road that show what was there before AC was built. Can anyone tell us? We know the building's only been up for about 6 years, really old maps show houses but Google Earth appears to show that between then and now there was a large modern (flat-roofed?) building with a car park out the front. Thanks for any info.
