  1. My family was involved in the refurbishment of the premises after St Anthony's School left the building. My memory, which may be defective, is that all negotiations were conducted with the diocese. Can someone confirm whether it was the diocese or the parish that made this decision? John Kennedy

  3. Thanks Ian, but there's more: =============================== 1. This Act may be cited as the London Local Authorities Act 1990. PART III STREET TRADING 21.?(2) The following are not street trading for the purposes of this Part of this Act:? (j) the sale, exposure or offer for sale or offer or provision of services on any land comprised in a street (not being part of a highway) within the meaning of subsection (1) above by the owner or occupier of the land or by a bona fide employee of the owner or occupier of the land. ================================ It looks like they got challenged because they failed the test at sub-para 21(2)(j). John K
  4. Are you sure, James? I have just double-checked all the 1990-2008 London Local Authorities Acts in force. I can't find the reference (Section 21) you were quoted. John K
  5. More to the point is Southwark Council's interpretation of Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 Schedule 4 Para 1(2)(e)(ii) See here.
  6. Might be a good idea to read before commenting. John K
  7. > I'd be surprised as the pavement has been a right of way for years now. A surprise does not deprive a freeholder of legal rights. An assertion that there is a right of way over a freeholder's land does not make it so. John K
  8. > This will probably stop Blackbeard bakery having tables and chairs outside which is a shame. We started at 52 Grove Vale. The "studs" shown on the map deliniate the divide between the land owned by the freeholders and the land owned by the council. John K

  11. A judge is likely to have regard to Section 2 of the Housing Act 1985 for the definition of "locality".
  12. The maximum age of an attendee youth referred by a YOP or Juvenile Court would be 19 years and 364 days.

Where I went, in this situation of it being such a near thing, you could be granted a viva , or spoken examination, and an external expert would judge how good ones grasp of the subject w Forum: The Lounge
  16. Someone needs to do a sanity check on the Southwark data that Undisputedtruth has provided. John K
  17. You can't see that what East Dulwich men did in the First World War has to do with East Dulwich? Are you the same moderator who moved to the lounge the thread about many East Dulwich men being killed in action on 23 May 1916? John Kennedy

  20. Thanks, PeckhamRose. If StraferJack was moderating today it explains the decision to move to the Lounge my post about the East Dulwich men killed on the Western Front this day in 1916. John K
  21. Please note that I did not place this thread in the lounge. Thank you. John K
  22. The moderator has removed to the lounge the thread I posted that provides further information about the East Dulwich men who were killed on the Western Front this day 95 years ago. See here... John K
  23. I'm surprised that this major re-modelling of Lordship Lane has had little comment here. I note that we are to become the "East Dulwich Corridor". John K
  24. > You could say that ED is fairly demarcated from adjacent areas by the Rye, Goose Green and Townley Road. It certainly has a market. Wrong. John K
