  6. Ps. Atila, I really enjoyed that Prince Buster, too!
  7. Back again - this is totally addictive! Anyhow, I just could not resist this one - even if the lyrics are a bit suspect, the footage is amazing - and I think I was there! How weird is that - seeing a gig you were at in your youth, almost 30 years later on your computer! More later... Black Uhuru, Shine Eye Gal
  8. Oo, another nice one LM, thanks again! Just thought some of you reggae fans might be interested in this event tomorrow at The Crow on the Hill Bookshop in Crystal Palace: the launch of 'Bob Marley, the Untold Story' by Chris Salewicz. There's going to be some music, some drink and some reading, says the website. Sounds good! See http://booksellercrow.typepad.com Til then, here's another tune: Stop That Train:

  13. Just to say, we are having a little open evening at our new shop, Alhambra, tomorrow (Thurs 3 December, 6-9pm). There will be complimentary mulled wine, mince pies, olive oil sampling and some special Christmas price reductions. There's a great range of potential Christmas presents in store: funky Mexican cushions and tea towels, authentic Andalucian pottery and cookware (including our special 'paella kits'), designer lighting, reclaimed and handmade tiles, recycled bags and purses, handpainted porcelain (look out for our exclusive 'cattucino' mugs), gorgeous candles and soaps, and much more, including the rugs, of course! You'll also find traditional Spanish food, including delicious Andalucian mountain honey, organic olive oil and a great range of Christmas delicacies such as turron (made from ground almonds and honey), pralines and almond biscuits. And there is a great exhibition of Spanish art and photography, too! Do pop in if you can. We are at 148 Kirkdale SE26 4BB (a mere five min drive from Lordship Lane) - and everyone is welcome - if not tomorrow, anytime (we are open Tues to Sunday). And for more news and offers, check the website at www.casajarapa.net Becca:)

    Rug Talk

Hello all Casa Jarapa here! Live and well and currently housed at 148 Kirkdale, Sydenham SE26 4BB. I have lots of beautiful handwoven Spanish rugs, made from recycled cotton and machine washable - prices go from ?25 for a 70x120cm closely woven rug to ?165 for a 170x240cm ultra thick and heavy one (the biggest heavy ones are currently reduced in price). All sizes come in a choice of styles and thicknesses. I can order as big as 2m x 3m, and if you would like to order one this size it would be best to do some soon as I am off to Spain on a buying trip this Friday! I've expanded my range now, too - I've now got Spanish ceramics, olive oils, spices, paella pans, terracotta pots, Cola Cao, mountain honey and tons of fun cushions, handpainted china, bags, nice cards, artwork (painting and photography). All kinds of great stuff. There's also a garden tea room at the back of the shop, with rotating exhibitions. There are currently paintings by Jesus Barranco on show and from Friday there will be photographs of Andalucia by Steve Powell. Anyhow, back to rugs - Bob, if you still want a big shaggy bobby rug, please get in touch! I'll be happy to show you what I have or can get. My number is 07817-781501, and the shop is open Monday to Saturday (it will be staffed while I am away). Website: www.casajarapa.net Thanks! Becca
  15. Just to let people know Casa Jarapa is moving from ED Warehouse this weekend, to our new shop, called Alhambra Home & Garden, at 148 Kirkdale SE26 4BB. I just wanted to say a big thank you to all the Forum readers who have shopped with us over the last couple of years, and say please do come and see us before we go (tomorrow) or even better pop over to Kirkdale (it's on the 176 bus route and only takes about 5 minutes in a car). We've got a much expanded range of goods there (fabulous), and a 'secret garden' tea room serving a variety of drinks and homemade cake! The tearoom is available for bookings, too, if you have an event you need to house. Oh, and there are some fabulous antique shops nearby, and an ace Victorian fireplace shop next door. Our website is still www.casajarapa.net for now, so you can still visit us/contact us there, too! Hasta pronto, amigos! Becca
