Natural induction - any tips?
DreaEastDulwich replied to Sarie's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Could your midwife give you a sweep? I had a sweep at 40+3 and went into labour that night. After the sweep I sat on the birthing ball for most of the day and also used an oil burner with some drops of Clary sage in it. I went into labour that night. I've no idea but suspect the sweep was what cracked it! -
Pregnancy classes & ways to meet people
DreaEastDulwich replied to KJ&bump's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hello everyone! Just wanted to say Hi, I'm also expecting number 2 in late June so have been checking in every now and again to see if there is a summer babies thread I can join! Look forward to meeting you all at some point :) -
Gumboots Nursery and reccomendations
DreaEastDulwich replied to larrylandell's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We used Little Fingers on Barry Road for our little one before we moved away because we literally couldn't get him in anywhere else, despite being on waiting lists since pregnancy. We didn't want to go down the nanny/childminder route. The staff and environment are lovely, their admin isn't great though - but to be honest i've found that with a lot of nurseries. They were very accomodating with settling in and also were happy to be called when I wanted to check how he was (after he was upset at drop off etc!). They didn't pay attention to where I had stated on his form that he had an egg allergy though, and then they gave him egg and he had a reaction. Obviously this would be a serious issue if the allergy was more serious! So I would question them on that. It could have just been a procedural teething problem that has been rectified. They were very kind and loving though and our son really enjoyed it there. It's definitely worth a visit to see if you like it. They are quite new, only been open a year or so. -
Gumboots Nursery and reccomendations
DreaEastDulwich replied to larrylandell's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I put my child on the Gumboots waiting list when I was 5 months pregnant. We never got a place, and he's nearly 2! I think because its so popular that maybe the baby room gets filled with siblings of children that already have a place? The other tip I would give you is that once you have found a nursery you like and got onto the waiting list, just keep calling and make a pain of yourself! -

They are donating to St Christopher's Hospice aren't they? They did last year. There is a letter from the hospice pinned up at the site. -
X - mas bonus for cleaners?
DreaEastDulwich replied to Sunlover00's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Yeah I presume you mean ?10 an hour! My cleaner is paid ?10 an hour and last year we gave her an extra ?10 at christmas. -
Definitely get on a list now! Don't think it's too early. I put my son on a list at Gumboots nursery when I was 5 months pregnant. He's now 18 months, still no place! (obviously we made alternative arrangements). We pay ?960 a month for 4 full days for him (in Sydenham, not ED).

Family holiday - Dordogne...?
DreaEastDulwich replied to Lochie's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We went to the Dordogne last year and stayed here: http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk/rentals/lanouaille/307486 The area was great in terms of being near to interesting things to see and do. We went with our 5 month old and the gite owners were very sweet and provided loads of age appropriate toys for him. Its a small cottage and all on one level with open plan kitchen/dining room and a nice big garden. There's two bedrooms so would be big enough if your kids are ok sharing a room? Its really near Lac de Rouffiac which is a lake with a gorgeous sandy beach. We got the ferry and drove but it is a loooooong old drive. We stopped in Arras on the way down and Chartres on the way home to break it up a bit, but we still ended up with about 5-6 hours driving in one day. -
I'm following too! I'm a way behind you guys (9th Feb) but clearly now starting to panic about how much we still have to organise at home..... Had our 32 week scan yesterday and baby is head down though. I'm feeling ok although I have got SPD (symphis pubis dysfunction or something!), which basically means I have too much relaxin in my pelvis which is making it painful to walk now. I'm seeing the guy at Dulwich Chiro clinic who is helping me out. I am sending good vibes your way for your babies to make an appearance!

I hadn't seen anything about this new nursery, and I live on Barry road! (its a long road though of course). I'd be interested in hearing any info that others might have too!
