Hi all, we're due to register our newborn on Wednesday and we have a question regarding her surname. I'm the father and am currently changing my surname, the idea being that I've never liked mine and didnt want to saddle our sprog with a shit last name. I just wanted to know what the legalities of doing this are? Can I simply show up on Wednesday and give the registrar my newly assumed surname to apply to my child and once its down on the birth certificate is that legally binding? Any advice and info gratefully received. M.

I like to think Lori is really dead, easily the most annoying character in the show. You might want to put a spoiler warning on your original post though AM! I watched the first series last year and thought it was ok but soon lost interest in following it. I picked up the 2nd and third seasons after a friend told me that it got better. It did, the characters are infinitely more developed and the plotting keeps you guessing. I thought it was very good.

Walking Dead is worth a watch. The first season is the weakest of the three so far but is only 6 episodes long and acts as more of an extended pilot, the characters are significantly more fleshed out in seasons 2-3. The zombies are a bit of a MacGuffin as it focuses primarily on the collapse of society and an individual groups reaction to it. Its quite affecting watching the main players slowly unravel as the latest atrocity slaps them around the face. Nicely written and not afraid to bump off lead characters. All that and Egg from This Life. Nice.
