  3. Who are these tutting, confrontational, inconsiderate, gasbagging, Jo Jo Maman B?b?d women? Would love to hear their version of events. Any takers? It might go something like this: I was walking down the street just a-having a think, when a snake of a guy gave me an evil wink. . . Oh no, that's the Time Warp. But if Louisa had jumped to the left and Phoebe-Victoria took a step to the right, it would have been sorted. :)
  4. Perhaps the old paths are just not able to accommodate the uber buggies of today. A solution could be the upgrading ie widening of existing foot and cyclepaths providing a wider, firm, stable surface. It will give good access throughout the year for light-wheeled vehicles such as buggies, wheelchairs and cycles, and for walkers, young children and frail and/or elderly - sans mud. However, like most things, it will come at a cost ie reduction of grassed area. But then again, that probably won't stop people misbehaving, buggy fascism and kamikaze bell ringing cyclists so it won't solve anything. Ho hum.

'Potential increase in hours of operation' equates to a nightmare, if the one on the corner of Nunhead Lane & Carden Rd is anything to go by. Cars from all over descend, starting early in the morning right through the evening without breaks - on weekends and weekdays. They don't have regular church service hours but rather an ongoing noisy free for all inside and outside the building with no regard for neighbours. Children left running & screaming in the streets without supervision. No parking for residents - parking across driveways and even in residents' own drives. They leave a load of litter behind in and around the adjoining streets and even when the services are over they hang about for hours shouting. Speaking with them rationally is met with Jesus clap trap. Due to complaints a few put on 'warden' fluoro vests and hang about outside doing nothing. In a word, useless. So much for 'Love Thy Neighbour'. The Council have been ineffective in curbing this.

Just interested to know how you know they're Polish. The ones that we've seen that fit that description are definitely Romanian, though I guess there could be a Polish couple roaming about too. (On Saturday morning there were 2 English men that I've seen around here for years cruising about picking up scrap). The man and woman seem to think that anything that's outside the front door is up for grabs and we've stopped them from helping themselves before though they did us a favour last week and took a door we had just put out. Re: skips - technically whoever owns the skip (or has hired it) owns the rubbish. So if you want something from one you are supposed to ask permission otherwise it could be classified as theft, however unlikely.
  10. Just Google 'Tracy Thier'. It's all there. If it's true that she is working with animals, surely they'd do a background check or a simple Google search. Pretty much all employers (voluntary or otherwise) do these days.
  11. Southern Cross - Crosby, Stills & Nash
  12. What Foxy said but fast forward to circa 1990-ish. I seem to remember it as a cross between an old fashioned restaurant you'd find in any French town and the Fawlty Towers dining room. Never thought about it since. In any event, good luck to E & M.
  13. too easy Dude. over to you
  14. I recall way back in 2007 there was rumour on this forum that Louisa and Margaret of Le Moulin were one and the same. Go figure.
  15. Invest in a mini fridge for their room would be my suggestion.

  23. As others have mentioned, of course you'll find radicals in all religions/sects. Getting back to Woolwich, in an attempt to legitimise such barbaric acts there seems to be a recurring theme of suffering (by proxy) for their 'brothers' in Afghanistan etc. as seen in the Woolwich footage, and the video messages by Siddique Khan (tube attacks) and Bouyeri (Theo Van Gogh's murderer). Perhaps central to all of this is 'radicalisation' (and the threshold from that to 'terrorism'). Radicalisation as the process of transformation doesn't have to be violent. Not all people who are radicalised are. However, imho it's how to deal with those who pose an actual threat to our safety: those who generate & distribute radical material, incite 'jihad', recruit and other such acts that potentially disrupt society and spread potentially violent ideologies. From Choudary, Hamza, Qatada right down to their foot soldiers, this is the challenge. As an aside, it's also interesting that in general, radicals, even suicide bombers, show no signs of mental derangement or psychopathology (eg Crenshaw study).
