  1. well of course yours is a bona fide case and is perfectly within the regulations so there isn't a problem, but a hell of a lot simply aren't. (It is also a criminal offence to misuse the scheme). The Dept for Transport have a simple guide.
  2. afraid not
  3. great first guesses & on the right track civilservant
  4. Was this enigmatic character with conviction fact or fiction?
  5. The blue badge scam is rife. Look at any supermarket car park or high street disabled bays. For those genuine that really do need it like speedbird, there are more who abuse the system. Blue badge fraud is estimated at ?46m a year due to misuse. Of course don't know if the young man was genuine, but the OP has a point. See here
  6. Just lucky. Give me a few minutes (not a clue).
  7. Clarice Starling.
  8. Ms Blueberry wrote: ". . . but it may also be a clever cover for doing more unsavoury business deals. It?s not completely unknown for cars on Lytcott and surrounding streets to be visited by police sniffer dogs. . . " now you're up to speed.
  9. Life Is Beautiful or Ferris Bueller.
  10. You could try the one where you put different topics on pieces of paper and get them to pick one out of a paper bag. They then have to give a speech about it for 60 seconds without hesitation or stopping. Eg, television, summer, or anything that fits into the theme of the course they're taking. There's always giggles etc but this could give them the confidence to take part in a presentation.
  11. Skips? Fly-tipping? If the point of the OP is that a car wash/valeting service 'camped outside your house' on a Sunday is noisy, a nuisance from emissions & equipment, makes a mess and causes increased traffic (the very nature of it one assumes means that cars could be lined up for the service), then that's a valid grievance but to begrudge them if that's not the case is something entirely different.
  12. art project? collector? ocd?
  13. Appreciate the update stephanieod15. When there was a wave of car break-ins one of the local CCTVs provided the evidence needed to convict the scumbag who, according to the police, had a long criminal history & responsible for 80% of the local car smash and grabs. A result. A significant number are serial thieves and known to the police. As is the experience of others, after a crime, we are much more vigilant & try to keep our belongings as close as practical to prevent it from happening again. This is obvious but unfortunately the handbag or jacket put on the back of a chair, or loo floor, or pushchair, or shopping trolley is a prime target for opportunist thieves. Some places do have warning signs but most don't take a blind bit of notice.
  14. Actually, just remembered, it's the Royal Mint, not BofE (they do the notes): 01443222111.
  15. Nurse Ratched (Cuckoo's Nest)?
  16. Try the Bank of England: General public enquiries Email: [email protected] Phone: +44 (0)20 7601 4878
  17. Harper Lee? Scout Finch?
  18. Melanie Daniels (Tippi Hedren's character in The Birds)?
  19. Maya Angelou?
  20. and quite often F precedes cold, as in "It's F cold again". :(
  21. Friend's bag snatched one lunch time inside the Dog (Village) a couple of years ago as we all sat eating. She just arrived from overseas so had her passport, money etc. taken so I empathise, stephanieod15. (Can't seem to locate the pictures on the twitter a/c - have they been taken down?) Btw, we have security cameras and the id problem has arisen before. Unfortunately the quality seems rarely suitable enough for police identification & conviction.
  22. Sounds very Kafkaesque, Foxy. Rather Kafka meets The Prisoner. But I'm obviously not that well read. So I'm out.
  23. Yes, check with the local authority's planning department but also look at the other grade 2 listed properties around yours and see if they've had any such work done. If you find one that has, then things are looking up for you. Speak to the owners and take it from there. Good luck.
  24. Foxhelp Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- Rather walk round there > than vere off of the main road in Nunhead, rather > you than me. Seriously? FFS. Let's just see. . . recent ED recap: muggings, break-ins, thefts from homes/sheds/gardens, handbags stolen in pubs, motorbikes set ablaze, bikes stolen, atm scams, assault in Dulwich Park to jogger. . . -v- recent Nunhead recap: happy clappy church, japanese knotweed & the kujo v white fang epic courtesy of northlondoner Yeah, Foxhelp. Nunhead is so badass. Best steer clear.
  25. (Classic literature so nothing to do with the Mumford & Sons 'The Cave') I think Foxy has it. Cross posts. . .hmmm. I give up.
